This was a day trip taken to observe construction of the new US-67 western bypass of Jacksonville.

The old 2-lane connection of US-36 from Illinois to Hannibal, MO was replaced with a 4-lane extension of I-72. This trip observed the construction progress of this road.

The new US-67 alignment west of Jacksonville is visited in this section. Construction will continue for the next few years on new routings north and south of this section.

A trip across eastern Iowa in 2001 observed the Avenue of the Saints.

This trip included field spotting of the big Iowa highway decommissioning that took place on July 1, 2003, and also observing the progress of the US-20 freeway construction in central Iowa.
