BARBARIAN GUILD GUIDE
MAULEM SCORESBY

IV. Titles, roars and other abilities.

Ok, I've rambled on quite a bit here. I'll give you a moment for all this to settle in before I start talking about abilities. I will mention titles, though. Titles come before your name, and add a sense of character. You can select your first title at circle four. TITLE PRE LIST will give you a list of titles currently available to you to choose from. You will gain more title options again at 10th circle, and at various stages after that. You can choose to display a title, or you can choose not to, it's up to you.

Barbarians have three main abilities available in your first ten circles in the guild, Berserking, Roaring and Dancing, which have various effects in and out of combat. In addition to this, Barbarians also resist magic spells that are targeted at them. This comes natural to us Barbs. Our resistance to magic, with the right stats, can fizzle most spells before they leave the mage's fingertips. My own motto is to trust only in steel, and never in the words of magic. Magic resistance will come natural to you from the day you join the guild.

At 2nd circle, you can ask your Guild Leader about skills, and they should teach you about the Berserk ability. When you are in trouble, hurt, outnumbered by critters, stunned, etc., you can type Berserk once you've learned the ability. While you are berserking, you are extremely focused on only one thing, kill every critter in sight! You will have a nice bonus to strength, and to stamina. But be wary! Once your berserk wears off, which it will after a bit of time, you will be left stunned and vulnerable on the ground.

You will be able to learn your first roar at circle five (ask < guildleader > about roars to see which roars that leader can teach you), and then every ten circles after that. There are lots of different roars and battlecries to choose from, each with slightly different effects. This is a good listing of all the roars. Check out the list there and see which roars you might like to use. A word of caution, though! Roaring inside of the town walls will get you arrested by the local law personnel. You'll get thrown in jail, and have to pay a fine to get your stuff back. Both the Crossing Guild and the Haven Guild are considered IN TOWN, so make sure you try out your roars while hunting critters OUTSIDE the city walls.

You can learn your first dance at level 10. Dances are learned in Dance Pits, the locations of which are closely guarded secrets among the Guild. However, if you are in Crossing, you can ask Rushleel, the bartender in the Barbarian Guild Pub, about dances, and, if you are ready to find the Dance Pit, he'll point you in the right direction.

Dances also give different effects and they use up your Inner Fire. Inner Fire is what helps us Barbs not only to Dance better, but also to Berserk. Inner Fire also helps us resist magic being targeted at us. You can check your Inner Fire by meditating on a flame. (you'll need to either find a flame, or start something on fire, ask some of your guildmates for a few pointers on this.)
