VII. Ranger Magic D. Animal Abilities 1. Wolf Scent: This is the other great teaching spell, it can also be chosen as your first spell choice, and is a good choice if you intend to follow the Animal Abilities route. Its effects are also most beneficial while you are young and not able to find all the different herbs. If your the type of person who doesn't like the added burden of a full stock of herbs, but like to hunt in places Empaths don't frequent it can also be a very useful spell allowing you to the chance to find herbs in emergency situations when you would not have been skilled enough without it. 2. See the Wind: (requires Wolf Scent) This spell is useful to archers. To young archers it can be a great blessing, allowing them to fire with more accuracy and hit much more often then they would normally. It also grows with the Ranger, as the creatures get harder. 3. Spider Climb: (requires See the Wind) This is one spell that Rangers who have it constantly use because in the higher hunting grounds there are still places they are not skilled enough to climb without it. It can also help you drag corpses over obstacles you normally would not be able to. This is a very limited use spell, but when you need it, your very glad you have it. It can also be cast on others, which makes you useful in a team. 4. Cheetah Swiftness: (requires Spider Climb) This is a held mana spell that affects your reflexes and agility. This is a spell for a skilled Ranger-Mage. Held mana spells can be tricky if not used properly. 5. Bear Strength: (requires Cheetah Swiftness) This spell is well liked by many elder Rangers. It can give a significant bonus to your strength and eventually (with enough skill) to your stamina as well. It is also a held mana spell like Cheetah Swiftness. It offers a lot of room to grow into, so even while your young it can still be useful. |
