VII. Ranger Magic E. Wilderness Survival 1. Hands of Lirisa: This spell increases your ability to skin. It can be a two-edged sword though. On one hand you will skin better and your skins will be worth more money, on the other you won't learn as effectively if casting it makes the creature to easy to skin. This spell is best used when you're not quite skilled enough to skin something without it. A very good spell overall that gives Rangers even more flexibility in how we learn our skinning but probably not the best choice as your first spell. 2. Earth Meld: (requires Hands of Lirisa) Earth Meld is one of our more useful spells; with enough skill you will be amazed at how much better your able to hide yourself. The effect of the spell fades slowly over time, so it's most useful as soon as it's cast. It can be especially helpful while ambushing critters or just when you don't want to be seen by anyone. Useful while young and will grow with you. 3. Mesmerize: (requires Earth Meld) This spell will attempt to calm beasts, stopping them from attacking for a short time. If you attack it while it is mesmerized, it will be infuriated and attack you back. The spell does not work on more intelligent creatures, nor does it work on exceptionally hostile ones. Not a good choice for younger rangers to choose as their first spell. 4. Blend: (requires Earth Meld) This is another fantastic spell, definitely one of our best. It allows us to blend into our surroundings and be pretty much invisible, as long as we don't move. Blend can be a real lifesaver, especially when your getting swarmed by critters, just blend and let yourself recuperate. This spell requires some magic skill to use well; I would suggest this as a choice later in your rangering career. 5. Breathe Water: (requires attaining your 25th circle in the guild) The Breathe Water spell allows you to breath water like it is air. This spell is complicated to use. When you first cast it you will be stunned for quite awhile as you get used to breathing water, when you surface again you will be stunned once again. The spell lasts for approximately an Anlas. Before it wears off it WILL give you a warning, if you do not heed the warning there is the chance that you can die. This is a spell that is best chosen late in your ranger career as it is a difficult spell to master. |
