| II. BECOMING
A WARRIOR MAGE F. COMBAT WITH WEAPONS AND MAGIC Heavy Thrown weapons are usually also Pike weapons. They can be used similarly to blunts, as they just have two main moves to increase balance and position, both of which cause damage... but Pikes require jabs and thrusts instead of draws and bashes. Like blunts, they are also usually very tiring weapons. Halberds are a bit more esoteric than the other weapons. They can hit at pole range, so a Warrior Mage can alter the timing of attacks to allow for this, or even fight the entire battle at such a range if pole range can be maintained. The maneuvers of choice for halberds are jab and thrust, just like the moves for Pike weapons. Non-targeted spells are a bit more flexible in their timing. Just prepare them when you have a spare moment (keeping in mind your balance, your position, and the evasion penalty for doing so) and cast them when you're ready. The beginning Warrior Mage should now have enough information to choose the paths that their combat training will take. Weapons and magic are ours alone of all the guilds to command with equal ferocity. Use them both well. |
