| III. FAMILIARS C. DEATHS OF FAMILIARS As familiars are magical creatures, they do not need to be fed, watered, housed or bathed. They do not have a 'life cycle' in which they will grow old and die. A familiar may be killed however, so great care must be taken that they do not linger in front of S'lai guards, or be sent on perilous missions during quests. If your familiar is smaller than a Fir familiar, do not let it visit with a Fir familiar as the Fir familiar may consider it a nuisance and eat it. If your familiar is killed, you will be stunned as the shock of it's death resonates through you. Once the stun wears off, wait for approximately five minutes, and try to resummon your familiar. You may or may not be able to resummon your familiar from death. There is no guarantee it will return. You will also lose your familiar if you lose the talisman. If you find a talisman on the ground, pick it up and focus on it, and see if you can tell who the talisman's owner is. If you are stunned trying to focus on the talisman, give it to someone who has more experience in the guild as they may be able to see to whom the talisman belongs. If you lose your talisman, hopefully someone who is skilled enough to see your name within your talisman will return it to you. Another way to lose your talisman is to cast an attack spell on your familiar or target your familiar with a spell. If you cast an attack spell or target your familiar with a targeted spell, even in jest, your familiar will abandon you. Not only will the talisman for the familiar you just attempted to cast at or target explode, but every other talisman you own, regardless of its location at the time. So do not cast at or target your familiar as doing so will destroy every talisman you own, leaving you without a Warrior Mage's best friend: a familiar. |
