IV. ADVANCING IN THE OUR GUILD
B. ATTITUDE AND DISPOSITION - ROLE PLAYING

Dragon Realms is a role-playing game, first and foremost. There is no other more important task, as a player, than to create a history and persona for your character. We come here to play make believe, in a shared place where at any given time we may easily find ourselves in company with a thousand or more people who are also engaged in the business of re-creating themselves as they wish. This is simultaneously one of the main pleasures and principal challenges of the game - everyone who enters here has the freedom to make themselves over as they wish, subject only to the terms of play and the duty of courtesy which is owed to our fellow adventurers.

Dragonrealms will accommodate almost all personal preferences in terms of role-play. If your interests lie mainly in challenging yourself and advancing your persona as rapidly as possible, there is room for that. However, some of the greatest pleasure to be gained in a game such as this lies in the creation of your own alternate persona, and the in-character interaction with others.

Essentially, you begin this process before you even enter the Realms, in the Halls of Choosing where you are first "born". Deciding upon a name, a race, and choosing an appearance - or allowing chance to do so for you - are all steps in the creation of your new self. From there, you are free to imagine your character's family background, past life, likes and dislikes, habits and preferences. The more you understand what has formed your new self, the easier it becomes to act and react in character.
