| IV. ADVANCING
IN THE OUR GUILD B. ATTITUDE AND DISPOSITION - ROLE PLAYING Role-Playing a War Mage Choosing the War Mage Guild defines your character further, establishing him or her as both magic wielder and warrior. Within those broad margins, however, there are very few limits on how you might choose to play. The history of the Guild indicates that War Mages are guardians and defenders of the lands and those who live on them, which provides a framework to react to or against. You might want to decide what brought your character to choose this Guild - was it a childhood dream? a wish for power? did you feel called to serve the lands? a desire for revenge? was it planned, or did you drift in to it? Perhaps it is a family tradition, or a rebellion against tradition. There are as many ways to role-play a War Mage as there are War Mages in the realms. In addition, War Mages have other areas available to them to explore for role-playing possibilities. Some War Mages develop elaborate personalities for and relationships with their familiars, which can give rise to many intriguing opportunities for play. Others experiment with their magic abilities, developing magical routines, incantations and effects to enhance their actions. The Act, Smile and Ponder verbs allow players a great deal of latitude to express themselves non-verbally. |
