| IV. ADVANCING
IN THE OUR GUILD B. ATTITUDE AND DISPOSITION - ROLE PLAYING Role-Playing a War Mage How you choose to present yourself is your decision entirely. How your character impacts on others and their enjoyment of this shared world is your responsibility. Bear this in mind when you are interacting with other players. Staying in character is one of the best ways to do this. Nothing is more disruptive to a shared fantasy than to overhear conversation which is blatantly out of character for the time and place in which the game is set. If you are in company with friends and wish to discuss "real world" matters, do so in whispers, or in a private place. Not only will this make the game experience more pleasurable for others, but it will enrich your own play as well. Role-playing is an ongoing process - the longer you play your character, the more your experiences will form him or her. You will meet other players, develop connections, learn skills, all of which will affect your view of yourself. In this sense the creation of your persona will always be a work in progress, its complexity limited only by your own preference. As a War Mage, you are a member of an old and honourable Guild with a long history in the Realms. Remember that tradition in your role-playing. Above all else, remember - you are here to have fun. Enjoy the experience! If you wish to read more about Role-playing, refer to the files available though the Dragonrealms website. There you will find a useful essay on the topic, "ROLEPLAYING IN DRAGONREALMS", with some very helpful suggestions and observations. |
