(Anlise leaves her post by the other empaths and slowly crosses to the middle of the stage.  You notice a large buldge beneath her skirts.  She stops and smiles at you, placing one hand protectively on her rounded abdomen.)



Anlise says, "Good evening.  My name is Anlise Lightshadow and I'm six months into my pregnancy."

Dromond blinks at Anlise.

Dromond falls over.

Anlise smiles and waits for people's reactions to die down.

Anlise exclaims, "How am I doing this?  Well, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the wonderful world of how to role-play your empath.  Does any of you think all you can do with your empath is sit and heal?  Well, you're wrong!"

Florine smiles an pats Anlise's tummy softly.

Dromond sits up.

Anlise says, "How do you learn to RP well?  Well, to start with you have to have a past in order to have a future.  I was born 28 years ago outside of Shard, the youngest of four sisters.  My father was a moon mage and my mother a paladin.  I grew up in a secure, loving home and from an early age tended my father and mother when they would get injured during the hunt.  That is how I became an empath."

Dromond glances at some healer's firewater.

Anlise says, "That is Anlise's history.  Actually, the very tip of it.  So much more has happened in the eight years I have been in Crossing.  I am also known as an empathic bard because I kept switching back and forth between empath and bard."

Anlise giggles.

Lillybelle grins.

Vivianna giggles at Anlise.

Anlise says, "Every action I do shapes Anlise's personality.  Sometimes her fellow empaths see her as haughty.  That is a reflection of my mood at the time.  Try your best to be consistent with the mood of your character and you will see how other people percieve you."

Vivianna says, "right there with ya babe"

Anlise says, "One of the best role players I know is really a nice person IRL.  But in the realms, he is a grouchy ole thing.  But we still love him."

Anlise says, "Or even..."

Dromond gazes at Anlise with a sympathetic look on his face.

Santaz says, "roleplay"

Anlise says, "All of these things draw people to you.  Also, do you talk to your patients?  One of Anlise's best traits is that she is a good listener.  People are not afraid to talk to her because she will always listen.  Be like that with your patients.  Listen to them and their problems."



Johin clucks his tongue and shakes his head.

Anlise says, "It is even as simple as asking how did they get hurt?  Patients appreciate this because they know you care"

Anlise says, "And this comes down to tips as well.  I make sure to let the people know I appreciate their tips.  But if all someone has for me is a few coppers, a goblin skin, or even no way to tip, I be sure to give them an extra special hug.  Many of the people here in Crossing are young and do not have much money.  If I recieve a goblin skin or any other pelt, I am sure to praise the skinner.  It really does make their day at times."

Vivianna nods.



Anlise says, "Which brings me down to tips.  I know it is some empaths policy to always demand a tip.  Sorry, not mine.  I may gripe and moan and groan in private about it at times, but I will never force anyone to give me a tip.  I am not here to make money, I am here to help people."

Esgaroeth smiles.

Anlise says, "If you are looking to be in this guild to make a lot of money, I'm afraid this isn't the place.  Many empaths are well off.  Look at me.  Much of this stuff are gifts from family and friends.  I'm not here to make money, I'm here to help people.  Hopefully, that is why you are here too."

Anlise says, "No medicine except for that you can make using herbs.  Oh, and the medicine being sold in one of the tents at the fest"

Vivianna says, "wart remover"

Elynden gazes thoughtfully at a lavender glass bottle.

Anlise says, "Many common diseases of the time are tuberculosis, the plague, and syphllis.  There are no AIDS here, just remember that."

Nikure chuckles.

Elynden puts her bottle in her silk backpack.

Anlise says, "I have seen both TB (also known as consumption) and the plague around.  It can be done!  However, syphllis is a lot rarer than the others.  After all, this is a family game."

Anlise smiles.

Vivianna giggles at Anlise.

Dromond lets out a long sigh of relief.

Loraul grins.

Lillybelle covers her mouth with her hand.

Florine blushes a bright red color.

Anlise says, "Now I come to pregnancy.  For me, role-playing pregnancy has been one of the most satisfying things I have ever done.  And yes, empaths can be pregnant as well, which is one of the hardest things to pull off."

Anlise says, "Anlise is going to be a single mother when she gives birth in three Elanthian months.  I have never seen a single mother give birth in Elanthia before, but there is no reason why I can't be single either."

Anlise says, "I just want to cover some basic dos and donts in Elanthian pregnancy real quickly.  I feel it's important for empaths to know something about pregnancy in Elanthia because as the healers in the realms, you maybe asked in one time or another to assist in a birth or miscarriage."

Anlise says, "Miscarriages do occur a lot and very rarely do children live beyond infancy.  Expect a high mortality rate, especially when it comes to babies.  And twins very rarely survive."

Anlise says, "Do not be afraid to RP your empath as pregnant.  Anlise has been pregnant three times, twice as an empath and once as a bard.  The first baby she had a miscarriage because she did not take care of herself.  The second baby did survive pregnancy, but did not get beyond childhood.  As for this one...only the gods know what is in store."

(Anlise rubs her abdomen)

Anlise says, "It's a fact of life.  But I suggest if you want to convincingly RP your empath as pregnant, do NOT take abdomen wounds!  The only reason I have swelling on my abdomen is to represent the baby.  A creative way to use a wound.  There are other creative ways to use wounds as well such as blindness."

Florine rubs Anlise gently.

Vivianna nods.

Anlise says, "As for giving birth, allow the mother to coach you on what she wants done.  Converse with her in whispers.  Does she want a boy or a girl?  Survival or stillborn?  Be sure to work with the mother to pull off a birth because she has this planned out in her mind."

Anlise says, "Also, survival rate is higher when the baby comes from two parents of the same species.  My ex-husband and I were both Elothean, so our baby had a higher chance of survival.  A child of let's say Gor Tog and Gnome blood doesn't."

Anlise says, "As for gestation, I set an Elothean's gestation period at 9 months, the same as a human.  You may want to try something different.  Just make sure you don't declare yourself pregnant and in eight days a baby pops out.  Those babies are the ones who do not survive."

Gambra sighs.



Anlise says, "There are a number of aids out now to assist you with your baby: baby blankets and baskets, and various stuffed toys.  I've got them all awaiting my little one.  I can't wait until he..or she gets here."

Artianna says, "Hello, my name is Artianna and I would like to speak to you a bit about working with clerics through the preparation of dead patients for resurrection. "

Artianna says, "First of all, there are very few places that have good life mana in the same place as good holy mana.  So when you prepare the patient to be resurrected, you may need to drag the patient to better life mana or, travel back and forth as you heal.  This can be difficult as well as a bit dangerous.  Ask the Cleric if they mind if you move the patient to a better life mana spot.  "

Artianna says, "If you need to move back and forth between rooms to heal, let the cleric know that it will take a little longer to heal the patient.  Be very careful how you take the wounds.  Make sure you break the link with the patient if the wound is a difficult one, and move to the better mana spot to heal it.  Please keep aware of your scars when you heal the patient and then yourself.  More empaths die from an accumulated scar than they do from healing the wound itself.   "



Artianna says, "It is very important that you prepare the body as quickly as you can. Taking only the major wounds and scars needed before resurrection. You can always finish the healing after the cleric raises the patient.  The longer it takes to heal the body, the harder it is for the cleric to restore the patient's memories.   Remember, the patient cannot have any internal bleeding and can only keep external bleeders if they are tended and watched carefully.  "



Artianna says, "Some times, a devastating scar, both internal and external, can prevent a patient from being raised as well such as a mangled and malformed head, complete body paralysis, and painful breathing."

Artianna casually observes the area.

Florine shudders.



Artianna says, "Many Clerics will watch closely to see if the body is ready to be raised.  Sometimes they may begin to raise or drag the body to a better holy spot before the body is ready.  Speak up and let them know the body is not ready and you will inform them as soon as the patient is ready.  Most clerics would prefer to be safe than sorry and will appreciate your letting them know. "

Santaz shivers.



Artianna says, "If you are healing a patient in a hunting area, then you need to either guard the patient or the cleric after the resurrection.  They are both vulnerable right after the raise.  If you are unable to guard, or there are not enough people to guard, move the patient to a safe area.   At this time assisting with the vitality can help the patient get on his feet so to speak.  Red flowers, as well as the zephyr rune can assist with raising their fatigue. "

Artianna says, "During times of invasion, clerics often will rejuve rather than raise.  Bodies will be piled high and chaos fills the air.  It is better for empaths to focus on the living to prevent further deaths.  There will still be some resurrections though.  Whisper to the clerics who are working and ask them which bodies they plan to raise.  This will give you some idea of where to begin healing."

Vivianna says, "I am SO not kidding"

Artianna says, "Clerics and empaths will usually develop a strong and friendly working relationship.  As a result, often the cleric will go out of their way to assist an empath in need of rejuvination and/or resurrection.  Likewise, Empaths tend to not take tips from clerics as a result of that sharing of services.  However, this is a personal choice and not a rule. "
