Allyn Lyrstrummer

Name: Tale Singer Allynn Lyrstrummer Race: Elothean Guild: Bard
Gender: Male Age: 43 Circle: 24
You were born on the 31st day of the 3rd month of Lirisa the Archer in the year of the Iron Toad, 319.

I was born on the 31st of Lirisa in the year 319. It has been a tradition in my family for the first born son, always named Allynn Lyrstrummer, to become a Bard. Since I enjoyed the music of my father, also named Allynn Lyrstrummer, I didn't go against tradition.

As a young lad some of my fondest memories were listening to my father play and watching my mother, an Empath, heal those in need. Although some of the wounds were nasty I was still allowed to watch the whole process. My father's enchantes aided my mother's healing for the worst cases. I think my parent's influence may be why I like helping others.

My mother taught me of healing herbs and my father taught me the basics of weapons and instruments. I will never forget the time we were practicing with real weapons and my sword was jarred from my hands when I parried my father's slash. His sword continued with it's momentum only slightly reduced and caught me on the upper right arm. He immediately dropped the weapon and took me to mother. This was the first time I needed her touch for more than minor scrapes and bruises. It also made me wary of the sight of my own blood. I have a tendency to get my bleeders healed soon even though I know I should practice my First Aid skills. Needless to say we never practiced with real weapons again.

When I left home to come to Crossing I went straight to the Bard Guild. Joining the Bard Guild was one of the happiest of my memories. Ever since you could find me either at the Bard guild or the Empath guild when I wasn't hunting. I made friends with some elder Empaths, Wilcrest and Sonjaa to name two, and learned my way around the mainland.

I spent most of my time in Haven, even though the Bard guild hadn't opened there at the time, and came to Crossing mainly to advance in the guild and to meet my fellow Bards at the guild. At the time that the War Mage Guild was destroyed I had a couple friends who belonged to that guild, Kissara and Mirlynn, so I decided to contribute to the rebuilding fund. Probably wasn't a good idea since I was usually short of funds, but at the time I had a few platinum in kronars and figured I'd be able to get more later. Oh well, it was a good deed.

When I reached my 30th year I declared myself senka'i neir and I'm determined to remain without footprints until I tire of adventuring. At that time I will settle down and get married. I will probably join the house my wife belongs to at that time.

I have actually helped to keep a man from dying. I was at the bottom of the shaft in reavers with a Ranger when someone who was trying to climb down the shaft fell. Needless to say they were bleeding in several places. I started to play the Lilt while the Ranger tended what he could. And I told the Ranger what herbs to give him to heal the rest. Between the two of us we kept him alive until the he could handle the wounds himself.

Below is a song about an ancestor of mine, the spreading of the tale is the reason that the first son in my family is expected to become a Bard. I carry the longsword mentioned in the last verse.

Allynn recites:

"I shall now chant "A Tale of a Dragon's Honor" as written by my ancestor Allynn Lyrstrummer the First about his father Alvyn Silverblades"

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"Long, long ago in the misty days of yore
When dragons still roamed Elanthia's shore
A paladin sent on a gruesome chore
To avenge a village Alvyn Silverblades had swore."

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"Alvyn wore burnished mail with silver gilt
And carried a greatsword with a golden hilt
His polished tower shield was sturdily built
He look like he had seen much blood spilt."

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"Alvyn came upon the village ruins at noon
As he passed he honored it with a mournful tune
He prepared for battle, he knew it would be soon
He saw the dragon at the rise of the red moon."

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"The dragon was blue of scale and white of claw
His monstrous size was enough to inspire awe
His head was mainly a many toothed maw
And a piercing gaze from eyes the color of straw."

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"When the combatants met both were hearty and hale
The dragon fought with tooth, claw and tail
Alvyn defended with greatsword, shield, and mail
The battle raged until the greatsword fell."

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"The next blow from the dragon broke the shield
Alvyn realized he would have mortality to yield
To his utter astonishment the dragon kneeled
'Why did you attack me Sir Knight?' the dragon pealed."

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"Alvyn wavered, 'Did you speak Sir Dragon?' he stammered
He removed his great helm, 'Or has my head been hammered?
To think that I have met a dragon more well mannered
Than some members of my guild that are knights bannered.'"

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"'I do speak Sir Knight, now tell me why we had to fight'
The baron of these lands put out a call for a knight
He said that a dragon had attacked yon village for spite
He asked me to come and see, then to slay you by my might.'"

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"The dragon was wroth, 'Tis a lie!' he thundered
'I am not the evil scoundrel that plundered
Yonder village that has been completely sundered'
Now Alvyn knew that someone had blundered."

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"The dragon roared, 'This evil deed was done by man
A group of mercenaries with your baron in the van
Flying overhead, I saw them destroy the last bridge span
To kill me and take my treasure must have been his plan.'"

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"'I will spread word of your honor to the guild Paladine
And honor your memory through out my descending line'
Alvyn told the dragon to keep his greatsword as a sign
To show to other knights that he was not malign."

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"Alvyn watched as the dragon flew with greatsword dangling
And thought on the baron's deeds and how he was angling
To capture the dragon's gems and golden spangling
For destroying the village the baron would receive a mangling."

Allynn chants in a countertenor voice:

"Alvyn drew his gleaming silver longsword and was on his way
Again swearing to avenge the village as well as he may
The rest of the story shall be saved for another day
The baron's life would be short suffice it to say."
