Autumnskye

Autumnskye looked at her cabin in the woods and thought “I sure have come far from my home”.

What I remember is a warm Autumn day, my parents lying on the ground next to me, a field of blood. Clerics by profession, strange for those from a nomadic clan who tend to be rangers, were attacked by marauders. I was left for dead, Mother had wrapped me up so well that I looked like a bunch of tattered rags...I dared not make a sound till the marauders finished their looting of my parents meager possessions. After they left I peeked out of the wrappings. A terrifying sight filled my eyes. A cry filled my throat but no sound escaped.. I crawled to my parents, begging the gods to save them but alas there was no one to help so their souls departed to walk the starry road forever.

I sat for what seemed an eternity...Watching the sky change into its beautiful autumn hues. The wind blowing against my face, my hair flowing in the breeze. I thought I saw elves in the grass, walking towards me but their clothing matched the grass and their hair matched the sun...The feathers and beads they wore on their clothing made a light clicking noise as they walked. They saw the carnage in the fields and began to look for evidence of who could have been in charge of such a massacre what they discovered was me. I sensed they were there to help so I stood up. A female elf who seemed very intimidating approached me and held me for what seemed an eternity. I could smell the fall in her hair as I wept...She whispered her name in my ear...Bright is my name and from now on you shall be named Autumnskye..for when we found you it was autumn and your eyes are the color of the autumn sky.

I was adopted into the Wind Elf clan as of that day. I decided on my profession as a healer the second I saw my parents fall. After my training as an Empath was complete, as complete as one’s never-ending training goes...I ventured out of the clan and into a city known as the Crossings. I met many new and different people of all races even found I had a liking for Elven spiced bread and tea! In the city I ran into an Aunt I didn’t know I had. Her name was Summerr and from that point on I called her Mom.....

My travels continued through Haven, Shard, Ratha and Aesry and back again to Crossing learning all I could about the culture and the history I had missed living my life in the Clan...

Stepping back from the cabin...Autumnskye said to herself...”I still have a long path to travel...may the wind always be at my back and the sun in my face”.
