Camielia smiles up at you with beautiful violet eyes, pausing briefly before she begins to speak. Her voice is soft and silken, and her inflections have an almost lyrical quality. She curls up in the large, comfortable armchair, tucking her long elven legs under her as she settles in to tell her tale. "This is known to very few people, to those I call my family and to those most dear to me, but I am a foundling. I do not know who bore me and gave me life. I have few memories of being a child. A faint image of a mother's smile, a man's laughter.....perhaps my father, I truly do not know." "I was found roaming about in the wilds, not much more then a wild animal-child. A young 'Tog spotted me late one night. He had noticed small bits of food missing from his meager camp and stayed awake into the wee hours pretending to sleep. Being a most ingenious 'Tog, it didn't take much for him to devise a means to entrap me. A simple honey cake was sufficient bait, a quick grab, and he popped me in his sack and carried me back to his home." "Now, in his 'Tog-like way of thinking, he believed I would make a nice pet. Luckily for me, his dear mother explained that young elven children cannot be kept as pets, no matter how wild and untamed their appearance. His family did keep me, raise me and civilize me as best that 'Togs could, until I came of age to care for myself. I shall not relate the stories of my adjusting to society, or 'taming' as my family chooses to refer to it. They are comical, but most embarrassing. My 'brother' does still tell them with a certain amount of glee and good-hearted teasing." Camielia cannot hide the hint of pink blush that rises in her cheeks. She quickly resumes the telling, hoping you didn't notice. "As I grew, I found myself a young elf with a desire to see what will be. I believe this desire grows from my lacking the childhood memories most people have that bind them to whom they are. I began to believe that Time is but a current, flowing forward and back, past into future. The present is only the place in the movement where we currently stand. To predict is simply to read the ripples and waves of those currents guided by stars that look down on us, all-seeing and eternal. I can not look back, so I took up studying how to look ahead." "I have learned that home is where I create one, and family is only those I love dearly enough to let into my heart. In the Moon Mage Guild I have found a home and my family continues to grow daily." "I am sorry, I have stayed much longer then I planned." With these final words, Camielia raises her arms chanting. At the slight gesture of her hands, the swirling vortex of a black Katamba moongate appears before you. She touches the shimmering surface and is gone. |
