Divada
Divada Verssshii comes from a long line of proud warriors.
She was born to Marielanna and Jaspenal in the quiet I'Pernian town of Skymount, deep in
the volcanic territories of the Gorbeshi people.
Her mother died when she was six, and her father only taught her and her other four
sisters that they could only count on themselves. He was a bitter man from that day forth,
and the sisters grew up with only each other's company.
When Divada was still very young, the dissent amongst her clan began. Little did they
know, it was a herald of civil war amongst her people. When all was said and done, the
Gorbesh had fragmented into two tribes. The Gorbesh remained in the homeland of their
ancestors, and the other tribe set out to find a new home, and a new way for their people,
the Kaldarans. Divada lost two sisters in the conflict. With the loss of her mother, the
neglect of her father... she could no longer bear the path her life was taking. She longed
for new sights, for new horizons, and so she set out, determined to become a great
warrior, and a sorceress like her mother before her.
She headed for the Crossing, a place she heard to be the hub of the races, and a jumping
point for adventure and deeds for those seeking them. Along the way, she met her best and
dearest friend, Azuinn Fyiorr. Though a Prydaen, they became fast friends, and vowed to
travel together for the greater good.
Once they reached the Crossing, it wasn't long before Divada knew exactly where she
belonged. With the help of a wise and kindly mentor, Serennade, she was able to find her
path. In no time at all, she had swore fealty to Gauthus and joined the Warrior Mage
guild. During her early adventures, she earned her living singing in local taverns at
night, singing the songs her mother had taught her late into the night. Azuinn became a
Paladin, and they soon began their quest to help others.
Along the way, she found many teachers to help her on her quest for betterment. Zusas
Tamanien, a wise and powerful Moon Mage, guided her in all things and taught her to be a
great warrior, and an enchantress to be reckoned with. Wyldedracon taught her the furthest
reaches of the heart. And Rashiid Diabl'cora, a thief no less, bound himself to her in
love as her companion and guide and protector.
Together, with Azuinn and Zusas and Rashiid, they adventured, helping others on a journey
of discovery about themselves. Along the way, they often found themselves being helped
more than they were giving. And so they were both Students and Teachers.
Divada learned that there was more to life than just adventure. She learned of friendship,
and that those bonds mean more than anything. She learned of love and loss. She learned to
be thankful for the things that others gave to her, and gave up for her. And she learned
to give and sacrifice as well.
In her quest to better herself, through chivalry and magic, she found the companions she
never thought that she would have. Seldom did her thoughts turn back to the home she left
behind. For she had found a new home.
One night, as she lay awake under the stars, she held the locket her mother had given her,
and she wondered if her mother would be proud. She looked to the bed rolls that held her
sleeping friends, her family, and she looked to the stars... And she realized what it was
all about.
No matter what she had learned... No matter where she had gone or who she had met... No
matter what adventures were still to come... The greatest lesson of all was... She had
learned that you never stopped learning. That's what it was all about. As her mother used
to say... Al voyeu eterna... The eternal voyage. The adventure would continue. |
