Evrath Draecia
[Eyes of the Thirteen, Damaris' Shrine]
Walls draped entirely in black silk fill the length of this platform with shadows that shift from ebon to
deep azure as light falls from the dome of midnight-blue glass above. Barely silhouetted in the gloom is
the lithe form of a life-sized obsidian panther depicted in full stalk, the great cat seeming to lead the
way towards the room beyond. Someone has placed a garland of scarlet nightshade around its neck, the
blossoms gone fiery against the dark, glassy stone of the sculpture.
Also Here: Brother Evrath who is kneeling
Evrath bow his head and prays.
Evrath slowly raises his head and smiles.
Oh, hello, I did not hear you enter. My name is Evrath Draecia. I am a humble servant of the gods and
friend to all those who lead an honorable life. I suppose you are here to hear the as of yet unfinished
story of my life.
Well I was born on the 11th day of the 7th month of Moliko the Balance in the year of the Amber Phoenix,
332 years after the victory of Lanival the Redeemer near the city of Langenfirth. I am but one of several
children that were born to my parents.
My parents were simple woods folk and were quite happy with their lives but aspired for something greater
for their children. On my sixth birthday, my parents decided to send me to the Crossing for a proper
education and to broaden my horizons on what the world had available to offer me. "Always remember that
you choose your own path," was the last thing my father said to me before I was taken to the Crossing by
a trader who was a friend of my parents.
Once we reached the Crossing, the trader left me in the care of the scholars at the Asemath Academy where
I began my scholarly studies. Upon my tenth birthday the headmaster of the academy advised me that I had
to go forth and learn what books could not teach me and to pick up three loaves of bread from the bakery.
I believe he wanted me to learn what life outside of those halls was like. So with a handful of bronze
kronars and a pat on the back I made my way.
My first lesson was all too soon in coming as I was pick pocketed of all but two of my coins. I stood
there distraught at my predicament and indecisive of what to do when a person dressed in a hooded cloak
passed me dragging the corpse of a dead female elf. Curious as to where this person was going I followed.
I soon came upon a door that led into a Guild Hall. Upon entering I stood before the High Priestess Tallis
who looked down upon me and advised that I was a bit too young to join the guild. Being an inquisitive
child I had many questions and she patiently stood there and answered all of them. I returned to the
Academy forgetting all about my task of purchasing bread for the Headmaster. I thank the gods that watched
over me that night that the Headmaster forgot that I was supposed to purchase some bread.
Upon my twenty-first birthday my parents sent word that they would be coming to celebrate my graduation
from the Academy. Alas my happiness was short lived. A paladin arrived with news that faenrae reavers
along the Northern Trade Route had ambushed my parents and that they had been killed.
On that day I realized what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to vanquish all that was unholy in the
world. I returned to Tallis and joined the Cleric Guild. I have spent my life wandering the lands fighting
the unholy where ever they should rear their hideous visages.
Upon my travels I met an elven cleric that has come to captivate my heart and soul. I found myself no
longer able to wander aimlessly without her by my side. Celanna and I professed our love for one another and
we were soon married before family and friends. You can still find me wandering the lands but now I always
have my love, Celanna, beside me, sharing in the adventure that is called life.
Evrath smiles at you.
