"With practiced hand I do weave, the
fabled spells that you perceive."
My life began when I was but a boy of eight. I say it began at this
time, for that was when I became an apprentice to an Arcane Lord. My
Master, as I was instructed to call him, was not the most generous of
men, but he was not overly cruel either. He was however, a strict taskmaster,
and according to him I was far too curious a young boy for my own good.
Regardless of his stance on that though, I strongly believe that is
also what caused him to take such an interest in me. It was thus that
I spent nine years studying under him before being given the chance
to prove my worth in the Realms, and to persue my own studies. Those
long years spent with him would serve me well in the years to come.
Once released from my Master's Tower, I quickly made haste for the Observatory
that I had discovered stood near a city called Crossing. The journey
would prove to be the first step down a road with limitless possibilities
for me. I had known for quite a while that my destiny lay in the weavings
of the stars, however, I was not prepared for the surge of power and
awareness that would come to me after being made a student of the guild.
The future spread before me, unknown yet shapeable, and thus I plunged
heart and soul into it.
I called upon the teachings of my Master in those early days. Choosing
to seclude myself from the masses, training and researching on my own
the ways of the Moon Magi. In this time, my knowledge grew immensely
through trial and error. I remained in such seclusion for many years,
keeping away from the guilds as much as possible. However, the years
passed, and the time where I could no longer learn effectively on my
own drew quickly near. A friend counseled me to frequent the guild more
and perhaps teach that which I had learned. Thus it was that I returned
to the guilds, and the Magi that gathered there. With the hope that
not only would I share the knowledge I could, but also learn more in
the doing.
I do not profess to be the most scholarly of mages, but I do possess
an inquisitive mind that is ever seeking the answer to whatever question
presents itself to me. In the time since I began to frequent the guildhalls
more, I have expanded my knowledge tenfold, as well as enlightened others
to different paths of thinking. The exchange continues to prove beneficial
to all magi involved.
As a magus, I have chosen to adorn myself in black robes, an homage
to the scorched moon Katamba. I draw strength from the tragedy that
befell it, looking to it as my patron Moon. I also have a tattoo upon
my chest that depicts the World Dragon with wings outstretched, spanning
behind a black-robed magus who is juggling the four moons of Elanthia.
I bear this tattoo not to show devotion to the Wyrm, but to show respect
to the danger it represents. Whether it is myth, or reality, the World
Dragon serves to remind Elanthians that there is always a price to seeking
power, and to beware, lest in the end it consumes you. |
