Meshsenloft
Call me Mesh. My full name you ask... Meshsenloft Sankalite of Elanthia. At the time of this writing I am 37 years old and a moon mage, who spends most of my time in the city I now call my home, The Crossings. My childhood was a rough one. I was abandoned by my parents when I was very young, too young to know what was really happening at the time. My father, well the Dwarves of Stone Clan who raised me as one of their own, have told me that he was a pleasant, humorous Dwarf. My mother, well she, they say was beautiful, as Dwarven women come. I understand it was hard for them to give me up but that they couldn't afford to take care of me as my father was not making a lot of money as a Bard. They say he was a storyteller and a comic of sorts. I guess that's where I get my sense of humor and storytelling ability. They decided to travel to find more work for my father, so I am told. I spent most of my early life in the Stone Clan, helping where I could and doing what comes naturally to a Dwarf... DRINKING ALE! Ah, just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I guess that's why I don't recall much of my younger life as a result. But I do remember the gathering of Dwarves and the Stomp. A great dance performed by the Dwarves... But I digress from my story... When I turned twenty, I asked the Dwarves, who took care of me all those years, if I could travel to try to find my real parents. I had saved up a little money doing this and that and I felt I was ready to find my folks. The Dwarves had shown me how to protect myself from some of the beasties that inhabit Elanthia and told me to run from the rest, so I was feeling brave. I didn't get to travel much when I was young so I didn't know where I was headed, but the Dwarves pointed me in the last direction they saw my parents head, towards a city they told me was called The Crossings. I made my way to The Crossings. I saw many things I had never encountered before growing up in the land of Dwarves, like other races. It is also here that I learned of training for various professions. At first, I thought about following in the footsteps of my lost father and become a bard. But then I thought about it and realized that that was what got me here in the first place. I looked into the Clerics but with all the relverie of being a Dwarf, I wasn't accepted. I looked into empath but couldn't see myself healing people all the time since I knew I needed to travel to find my parents. Barbarians, well I've never pictured myself as the barbaric type, especially with my short stature. I spent a long time investigating the various opportunities in front of me. I figured that if I was going to travel I would need a way to make some money to pay for the trips. I knew my skills at the time weren't going to help me out. That's when I met Tonika. She became a mentor to me. She taught me how to live and survive in the city. I think that it's partially due to her that I did end up chosing to become a moon mage, although the thought of being able to use magic and see the future were very appealing to me. And so I became a moon mage. I had to talk to this man, Kssarh, who poked me and yelled at me while telling me I wasn't capable of being a moon mage. I told him that I could and that he should at least give me a chance to prove myself. He told me what I needed to do to prove my worth and to this day he still tells me what I need to work on, and I have a sense of accomplishment at what I have become. I know you are wondering about my parents, well I still haven't found them. I was told they may have been killed during the war with Sorrow, which was one of the first majors things I have been a part of in my life. Growing up in the Stone Clan I was taught to help where I could. Well, being so inexperienced as a mage, I did whatever I could do. I watched Tonika and others fight, meanwhile, I helped drag dead people. It was really an eye-opening experience for a sheltered Dwarf. I felt so bad that I couldn't take part at the time. I am now a citizen of The Crossings. I help defend it under attacks. This led to the next major thing to happen in my life away from the Stone Clan. I was standing in the academy library when a white dog came in. I thought it was odd but then it got even odder, the dog talked to me. I had been witnessing various strange things happening around town and a group, The Silent Guardians, heard of my ramblings. They sent the dog to invite me to meet with them. I had to travel to Riverhaven, to a place called the Zaulfung Stones. They told me about the Standing Stones and the history there and of their task to guard the stones. I spent many months working with the Guardians after travelling back and forth from The Crossings to Riverhaven, assisting where I could and acting as a liason in the south. They asked me to be their official Diplomatic Speaker, a title I still wear today. Working with the Guardians led me on many quests and adventures. One of which I will tell here. I was talking with Pathian and Ravennesque outside the gates of The Crossing when Pathian sensed that Tethia was stirring about. When he located her, he found she was in the palace in Throne City. We immediately set forth to find her. Pathian was worried that some may try to kill her. Tethia, of course is the same from the prophecy and the events on Taisgaith. Well when we found her, she was in the library of the palace at a metal grate. She wanted us to help her get into the vault, which she said was behind the grate. Well thinking of the riches inside, we helped not thinking about the consequences. After a few spells, and a little magic... The grate flung open. We followed the path down to the vault where we found two Y'shai Guards guarding the vault. We tried everything and to this day I still don't know exactly why the guardians opened the vault for us but they did. There was a moongate we could not pass through, and some other artifacts. Then Tethia changed. She laughed at us for helping her into the vault and called us fools. Then she went into refractive field and we say the moongate ripple. We know she went through the gate but she never came back. The door to the vault started closing and we scrambled to get out. I had never dreamed of encountering such adventures when I was young. Today, well I continue to learn the ways of the moon mage. I am always seeking a new adventure. Unfortunately, I still haven't found my parents or proof of their death during the war with Sorrow. As such, I continue to wander Elanthia searching for my family. I can tell you that I have met many people in my travels, some of whom I now call my brothers and sisters, eleven to be exact. Not all blood relatives, but rather a family by lack of family. I do have two brothers I have recently come to know as well. |
