Orryn Bucklethorne My name is Orryn Bucklethorne, son of Degryn Bucklethorne, war leader of our clan. The details of my birth and early life are of little consequence here, but to be brief, I am the second oldest of four, and former heir to my father's title. I have trained in the ways of war since my childhood, as my elder brother was too sickly to be considered for the post (he is now an Empath in the Realms). Upon my first day of Manhood, my father sent me to the Crossing to further my training with the Weapon Master Agonar and to broaden my knowledge of the world. The Crossing was quite a sight, and I cannot say if I was impressed by its size or surprised by its mannerisms... either way, I proceeded to find Agonar, and with my father's Writ, begin training. I spent a fair amount of my early career in Zoluren, learning well the ways of combat, till I decided to broaden my horizons, and headed north to Therengia. In Riverhaven I found respite from the annoyances of the rude and bothersome folk that seemed to plague the Crossing, as well as Guildmaster Mo, now my current trainer. Haven was nice, but still not quite what I was seeking in challenges, so I departed there, heading across the lake to visit Therenborough and the surrounding lands. In Theren I found what I had been looking for: grand hunting and people of quality, not quantity. After a year or so of hunting and training in and around Therenborough, I heard of Dunshade Manor being opened up again, and decided to put my skills to the test. My Quest through Dunshade was harrowing, but rewarding in both body and spirit, as I met new people whom I still call friends, as well as one who has become much more, Kasumei Takimura. Kas and I started off on a strange note as both of us believed the other had been flirting and as such, we hit it off rather well, with the help of one of Kas's friends. To be brief, and to leave out rather private details, Kas and I fell in Love and were married a few months hence. During this courtship, I heard tales of a group of people dedicated to the guardianship of Therenborough. I decided then and there that I would make Theren my permanent home, and I endeavored to find these members of the Theren Guard so that I might join their ranks. It should be noted, though, that I had other reasons for settling in Theren instead of my Clanhome... actually, one... Kasumei. Kas is of Elven lineage, but despite this, we have been very close to one another. Unfortunately, my father does not share this open-minded attitude and made this perfectly clear to me when I announced that I would be wedding her. Upon my refusal to give her up, my father disowned me and set my brother Durrynn on the path to succession in my place. Durrynn has been supportive of my decision, but does not openly approve or oppose it, playing mediator as is his nature. It was at this point that I knew where I truly belonged, and made haste to follow that path. I had met up with Madigan prior to our wedding, but I knew even then what my father would do and made my plans accordingly. Madigan is the Recruiting Officer for the Theren Guard and, after some interviews and discussion with him, he became my sponsor in the Guard. Four months or so later, I finished my training and was granted the black cloak of House Hedeon, and inducted into the ranks of the Theren Guard. My duties as a Guard have kept me happy, busy and whole of mind and spirit; I would never give them up, for they represented all I held as good in this world. Alas, all has not been well, for soon after Kasumei became pregnant with my child, she disappeared. To this day, neither I nor any member of the Guard have seen or heard from her, even her closest friends. I do fear kidnapping or the like, but have seen no demands. Where she is and what has happened to her, I cannot say, but I will continue to search for her as long as I am able. My thanks to you, kind reader, for your curiosity and your patience with me and my ramblings. My life may not have been the most glorious, but then, its tale has not yet finished....
