Rischelieu As you enter the room, you notice a young Elothean female with dark hair seated at a table, her chin cupped in her hand, staring pensively out the window. Without turning, she says, "You know, my father used to be a farmer." In the window's reflection you see her smile slightly, indicating the fields below. "He was a very poor farmer, though. About all he ever managed to grow were weeds. My mother worked as a maid for one of the wealthier residents of the town, and she usually managed to sneak some food out to us." She looks briefly away from the window, raising solemn silver eyes to meet yours. "When I was thirteen, my mother became very ill. I was forced to care for my mother, father and three year old sister. I tried to fill my mother's place as a maid, but I lacked the strength to perform many of the tasks. Eventually I found work running errands for others. Quite often on my runs, I would pass a bakery or fruit stand, so I ate rather well." She winks at you, a mischievious sparkle in her eyes. "Even when my mother recovered, I continued to run errands, my little sister tagging along. One day, however, I was caught, and we both were arrested. Our parents, trying to keep us out of trouble, sent us to live at a distant school run by Moon Mages. Though I learned to read and study the skies, I had no aptitude for magic, except for disappearing on occasion." She giggles. "I was eventually, um, released from the school, following a stunt involving Telekinetic Throw and the headmaster's underwear." She works hard to suppress a smile, but ends up grinning anyway. "He did look funny, though!" She laughs. She absently gazes out the window again, but suddenly exclaims, "Oh my, it's after sunset already! I'm late!" Glancing outside, you notice it is indeed dark, but when you turn back to the girl, she is gone. |
