Valentien De Les Oceannes

I am known as Valentien De Les Oceannes, and I would introduce myself to you if I may. I am from a place that is several days hard journey away in an area as yet mostly undiscovered by the folks that live in the known regions here. Where imposing mountains graced with snow-capped peaks stand a silent watch over a fertile valley, nourished by the pure water rushing down the mountainsides into a wide river that wends its way along its length. It is extremely lovely and peaceful there.

I have a lovely family there, which I visit on as often as I can. Regretfully, father was killed in battle ages ago, but my mother and grandmother still live peacefully in the valley, prospering in their chosen ways. My mother is a healer of some renown, and my granny an alchemist with a hobby in brewing the finest spirits.

As a child I watched with envy as many from our village left to seek their fortunes beyond our mountains, including my older sister heading to the Crossings to seek out training in the guilds when she was 39. Several years later with my family's blessings I decided to do the same. However, I didn't follow in the footsteps of the other members of my family. I wanted to be able to earn the coins to enable me to give them some of the luxuries they so richly deserved. And so, I decided to become a trader.

Trading has been good to me. I have made many wonderful friends and I earn a very decent living here. I lived my life alone, not dating any one particular person, as my poor sister had had her heart broken several times. I actually had thoughts of taking applications for a Male Harem. Unfortunately there were all too many jumping at the chance to apply, and that put me off a bit, so I decided it might not be such a good idea after all.

For a long time I worked alongside a dear friend, also my teacher in the ways of the guild, never seeing quite how deeply I'd come to care for him. We both came to realize that we were meant to be together and married. His name is Badtooth Bateson and we've been together many years now.

It came upon me as I watched the younger of the guilds around me seeking assistance, that I would like to do more to benefit those here in the Crossings. I was received warmly into the mentor fold and help others as much as I can when I am not on the road trading. Now I have friends, family, wealth and purpose. I have it all and happy that this is so.
