You recite:

"THis is a very relaxed competition

We'll be voting on how the performance entertains

If you keep in genre."

You recite:

"Mostly... it'll be judged on how well the judges like it!"

You recite:

"If y'all will sit down, and quit the wriggling

I'll continue."

>Dremerie smiles sweetly.

You recite:

"Ok. Songs SHOULD be your own works."

>You say, "You CAN tell stories instead."

You recite:

"If you want, I'll be in the lands tomorrow

And will be glad to tell you how to better your piece

If you really want a critique."

You recite:

"Please... try to keep your pieces to less than 10 minutes.

I do need to eat sometime tonight!"

You recite:

"Judges for tonight are: Lord Quivaheart... errrr... Quivalin."

>You wink at Quivalin.

>Quivalin chuckles.

>Quivalin says, "Yeah, all the ladies' hearts quiver.. uh huh...."

You recite:

"And Lady Ylandra, Queen of the Isles!"

>Ylandra blinks.

>Ylandra asks, "isles?"

>You wink at Ylandra.

>Ylandra asks, "I thought I was High Bardess?"

>Thaerin says, "As long as you're not the official Bardlette, we'll be

fine."

> You say, "You still got a palm frond hanging from your hair."

>Ylandra laughs!

>Ylandra gibbers incoherently.

>Phoenixsong says, "Take whatever title you wish, Lady Ylandra."

>Ylandra pokes you in the ribs.

>Phoenixsong says, "No one will oppose your choice."

>Ylandra begins chuckling at Phoenixsong.

>Ylandra nods to you.

You recite:

"I'm just the Purple Bard."

You wink.

>Quivalin says, "Nothing rhymes with purple"

>Gravena says, "Verple does."

>Gravena cackles!

>Serrelynde says, "Nurple"

>Serrelynde says, "As in purple nurple"

>Phoenixsong says, "Churp l'il bird."

>Thaerin says, "Slurple, which is slurred and supple."

You recite:

"Let's be quiet now and we'll get started!"

You recite:

"Lady Thaerin has a special song to open the competition up with."

You recite:

"This is not a competition piece."

>Thaerin sings:

"Raise your voice, young man

Raise your voice and sing

Let us hear your joy

Let your soul's song ring."

>Thaerin sings:

"Sing to me of sorrow

Sing away your tears

Let it be shared in music

Lessened by all who hear."

>(Thaerin continues to tap the sticks, the sound rising to the tent's

canvas.)

>(Gravena finds herself bopping to the beat of Thaerin's song.)

>Thaerin sings:

"Raise your voice, young lass

Raise your voice and sing

Let us hear your love

Let your heartbeat ring."

>Thaerin sings:

"Sing to me his promises

Sing to him your fears

Let them pass in music

A duet sweet to both your ears."

>(Thaerin raises her arms wide apart and faces you, singing the last

verse a capella.)

>Thaerin sings:

"Raise your voices, young bards

Raises your voices and sing

Let us hear your song

Let it be everything."

>(Thaerin lowers the sticks and bows.)

>You beam at Thaerin.

>(Thaerin climbs back into the audience.)

>You exclaim, "Thank you Thaerin!! That was wonderful!"

>Dremerie smiles as she dumps a pile of torn and folded pieces of

parchment into her pouch.

>You remove a silver beaded lavender silk pouch from your belt.

>You say, "Ok... got all the names in here..."

>You tap a silver beaded lavender silk pouch.

>(Dremerie reaches deep into the pouch, stirring all the parchments.)

>Dremerie smiles as she pulls the first parchment out.

>You say, "First up...."

You recite:

"Just a reminder... Please, no wriggling, giggling or talking during

the performing."

You recite:

"First up is...."

You recite:

"Nevrek!"

>(Dremerie drops the parchment into Quivalin's lap.)

>Nevrek stands up.

>Nevrek cracks his knuckles.

>Nevrek says, "This.. story slash song is something I wrote two days

ago."

>Nevrek says, "Tocciata and I bet eah other that ve vere better

songwriter than the other, so Ylena gave us a task."

Nevrek says, "Ve had to compose something referencing a rock, a

serpent, and a glass of rum."

Nevrek says, "This.. is vhat I came up vith."

Nevrek just opened a black gold-buttoned pack.

>Nevrek slings a dark elven warshield emblazoned with shadowy runes of

the house of Faendryl over his shoulder.

>Nevrek recites:

"'A Drunk Serpent's Rock' ..a quickly composed prose by Nevrek

Araknathalin.."

>Nevrek recites:

"Once upon a time, I say this as

It's how many stories start,

A coppery serpent crawled through the grass,

A serpent cute, yet not too smart."

>(Nevrek stares off with a vacant look on his face.)

>Nevrek recites:

"As the serpent crawled about one day,

One day, I say, as is the typical time,

The serpent came across a glass on her way

Of course, To her most favorite vine."

>(Nevrek bobs his head from his left shoulder to his right, slinking his

arms about in a wavy, serpentine manner.)

>Nevrek recites:

"'Oh dear me' said she as she peeked into the glass.

'Smells tasty, I think..yes, tasty I'm sure.'

'This is a nice thing, a drink I cannot pass.'

The serpent drank heavily of the rum in the glass

and her mind slipped into a blur."

>Nevrek smiles like a drunken fool.

>Nevrek recites:

"As the rum took through her veins,

She giggled and said 'I've got no legs!'

Then after several more silly claims,

She laid down and said 'I should lay some eggs!'"

>Nevrek sits down.

>(Nevrek nestles his rear end onto the floor, then huddles himself up

into a ball.)

>Nevrek recites:

"So she coiled up real tight,

All happy and hopeful,

She prayed through the night,

Yet nothing was fruitful.

But out of the sky like a bird or a fly,

Fell from a cliff a singular stone,

It hit her on the head, oh no!

She twitched once and fell with a groan."

>Nevrek falls over.

>Nevrek groans.

>Nevrek recites:

"And the snake did awake late on the morrow,

She glanced around and frowned,

Felt nothing but sorrow.

No egg had she, for this she cried,

but as her eyes cleared she quickly had found..."

>Nevrek searches around for a moment.

>Nevrek beams!

>Nevrek recites:

"..The rock, and a glorious stone it had been,

Not as good as an egg or yummy mouse to be killed,

The snake was not happy, but looked and started to grin,

For the rock was no rock, only a disquised emerild."

>Nevrek removes an emerald from in his gold-buttoned pack.

>Nevrek raises his emerald skyward!

>Nevrek recites:

"The serpent stared deeply into the bright gem

Lost in its facets she gazed.

Then her surroundings darkened as she heard Him,

'The voice of a spirit!' said she, amazed."

>Nevrek sits up.

>Nevrek stares off into space.

>Nevrek recites:

"The spirit manifested, chuckled and spoke,

'For the emerald, for of it I beg,

If you give it to me, as I hope,

I'll give you something, even an egg.'"

>Nevrek gasps.

>Nevrek clasps his hand over his mouth.

>Laila appears to lose some confidence.

>Nevrek beams!

>Nevrek recites:

"The serpent beamed and quivered in cheer,

Said she 'Take it, an egg for the gem!'

The spirit smiled and cast at the gem, made it disappear,

Then he dropped the egg and said 'Do take care of him.'"

>(Nevrek extends his hand and stares into his palm at nothing in

particular, then mimes setting something behind him.)

>Nevrek recites:

"For a week and a half the serpent leaned back

On the egg, hoped its hatch would soon quicken.

Then one day with a hideous crack,

Out from the egg came a chicken."

>Nevrek blinks.

>Nevrek shrugs.

>Nevrek recites:

"'Dear me!' said the serpent 'You're not a snake!'

'Cheep cheep!' said the chick,

'Cheep cheep!' is all it spake.

Then out came a hawk, egads! It ate them up quick!"

>Nevrek hiccups!

>Nevrek says, "The end..."

>(Nevrek bows with a sweep of his cape in true roguish fashion.)

>Nevrek put an emerald in his gold-buttoned pack.

>You hug Nevrek.

>Nevrek just closed a black gold-buttoned pack.

>Nevrek winks.

Nevrek says, "Hope you all liked it..and I hope I didn't go too fast."

>Dremerie smiles slyly as she reaches in her pouch and pulls out another

slip of paper....

>(Ahmeuseng looks rather distracted, small beads of perspiration forming

on her upper lip.)

>You exclaim, "Someone spit on this one!!"

>Nevrek smirks.

>(Demerie opens the paper with two fingers as though it's going to bite

her...)

>(Quivalin takes the last parchment from his lap and places it in

Dremerie's, all most properly, assuredly.)

>Norgina stands up.

>Norgina curtsies.

>Norgina smiles shyly as she does her best to compose herself.

>(Dremerie drops the gooey parchment into Quivalin's lap.)

>(Norgina stares off wistfully.)

>Norgina recites:

"I see the moon each night that I can,

And to the stars I pray with my heart,

And make wishes to each star, being who I am,

Suddenly from behind me came a great start..."

>Norgina recites:

"I turn around to look what is there,

But all I can see are dark shadows,

After a moment's watch of hard stare,

I turn back around and saw a great battle..."

>Norgina recites:

"I noticed a great beast, with weapons and arms,

And saw what appeared a great sorcerer,

Who suffered great harm,

Wondering what happened, wondering what occured..."

>Norgina recites:

"I ran out to his aid,

And found no wounds on him,

Seeing that the battle's price was paid,

The beast had collapsed and the sorcerer dimmed..."

>Norgina recites:

"In a moment he disappeared,

Not a trace left behind,

And I was left in wonder,

Of him I surely saw no sign..."

>Norgina recites:

"He seemed to have protected me,

From that great, horrid beast,

It was hidden, and much to hard to see,

He was greatly handsome, to say the least..."

>Norgina recites:

"Thinking back now, I wonder who he was,

I wonder what he was about...

Whatever he says and does,

Him, this great man, I'm still searching out..."

>Norgina gazes heavenward.

>Norgina smiles faintly.

>Norgina curtsies.

>Norgina curtsies.

>Norgina sits down.

>(Dremerie sticks her tongue between her teeth as she reaches into her

pouch.)

>Dremerie smiles as she pulls out a purple colored strip.

>You exclaim, "Someone's trying to bribe the judges!"

>Ylandra gawks at you.

>Arpeggia gasps.

>(Dremerie waves the purple parchment around.)

>Ylandra says, "well its purple, not green"

>Ylandra says, "so they aren't doing a very good job"

>Ylandra smirks.

>(Dremerie opens up the slip....)

>You exclaim, "Flyn!! You silly! You're up!"

>Flyn stands up.

>Flyn just pinched himself!

>Flyn says, "well..here we go"

Flyn cracks his knuckles.

>Quivalin recites:

"Next up is Flyn

She said with a grin..."

>(Flyn closes his eyes, focusing his elemental powers into the room,

garthing the moisture in the air into a light fog. Taking a deep breath,

he opens his eyes and begins)

>Gravena laughs!

>Flyn recites:

"Oh the darkest spirt it does ride

carrying the curse of a foolish pride

once a lover, once a man

now he carries his fate in hand"

(Flyn glances about, almost fearful that someone or something will hear

the tale. Flyn kneels, staring at the ground as if in memory )

>Flyn kneels down.

>Flyn recites:

"It was one night, black as pitch

He saw the woman in the ditch

cold as ice, eyes glazed in pain

she moans aloud as if insane"

>(Flyn strengthens his voice, the words ringing through the room

mimicing the sounds of battle..then it softens once again into a mornful

tone)

>Flyn recites:

"The man stop, horse stomping in fright

who would have expected a banshee this night

Her eyes glowed bright of undead might

the warrior sure he could win this fight."

>Flyn recites:

"He drew the blade of the purest metal

He leaps toward the fiend to see her torment settled

The bansheed screamed as the warrior swung

he was sure of the battle to be won "

>Flyn recites:

"But banshee was stronger, his faith wavered

she moved forward and bite the flesh she savored

The fighter's soul was lost, his eyes grew dim

a result of fighting on a whim"

>Flyn recites:

"Now he must wander, as one of them"

>(Flyn leans glances at Tarlina, fear in his voice)

>Flyn recites:

"Undead and tormented by light so dim

"

>Tarlina smirks.

>(Flyn draws the light in the room into himself, creating an eerie glow

as he moves close to Ylandra's face to finsih the verse)

>Flyn recites:

"When you walk the graveyard and see thier faces

remember, one foolish step and your will switch places."

>Flyn gestures and utters a phrase of magic.

>Flyn gestures at Ylandra.

Flyn hurls a surge of electricity at Ylandra, causing a crackling halo

of static to swirl about her head, standing all her hair straight on

end. How silly!

Ylandra's hair suddenly stands straight up!

>Flyn winks at Ylandra.

>Ylandra chuckles.

>Flyn bows.

>Flyn blushes a nice shade of off-pink.

>You ask, "Are we ready for another?"

>Ylandra nods to you.

>Dremerie smiles at the room.

>Quivalin says, "Lockerbrew, please"

>Quivalin asks, "oh, you don't mean drinks?"

>Quivalin peers quizzically at you.

>Ylandra begins chuckling at Quivalin.

>(Dremerie slowly slides her hand into the pouch, rummaging around until

she jerks her hand out with a gasp!)

>You gasp.

>You exclaim, "This one bit me!"

>Quivalin furrows his brow.

>Ylandra gawks at you.

>(Dremerie glares at the parchment strip.)

>Quivalin says, "heh, mousetrap"

>Ylandra asks, "someone sabotaging the contest?"

>Ylandra gibbers incoherently.

>Quivalin asks, "Toemain, you leave yer false teeth in there?"

>Ylandra begins chuckling at Quivalin.

>(Dremerie opens the parchment with a viscious twist!)

>Gravena exclaims, "He did!"

>Toemain grins.

>Toemain sticks out his tongue.

>You exclaim, "Toemain!"

>(Gravena puckers up to Toemain and finds Lord Gabby Hayes there!)

>You ask, "You didn't poison this, did you?"

>Gravena says, "Ew."

>Toemain laughs!

>Toemain pokes Gravena in the ribs.

>(Dremerie shakes the strip in Toemain's face.)

>Gravena cackles!

>Quivalin sings:

"It was the cleric Toemain

whose name did remain..."

>You raise an eyebrow in Toemain's direction.

>Gravena sings:

"His name will always be

What happened to me!"

>Toemain grins.

>You exclaim, "Toemain ain't the one on the strip!"

>Ahmeuseng gazes fondly at Toemain.

>You exclaim, "He's just the one poisoned it!"

>Ylandra blinks at you.

>Gravena blinks.

>Gravena giggles.

>Karanaya grins.

>Ylandra asks, "well who is on the strip?"

Ylandra gives you a good pinch!

>Quivalin exclaims, "An imposter!"

You recite:

"Next up... Gravena!"

>Gravena blinks.

>Arpeggia beams happily at Gravena!

>Arpeggia applauds.

>Arpeggia becomes solid again.

>Arpeggia applauds.

>Gravena exclaims, "Oh, my!"

>Karanaya applauds.

>Ahmeuseng applauds.

>Arpeggia smiles.

>Ylandra says, "Please give Gravena your complete attention. Thanks."

>Gravena asks, "Might I have a sec to prepare?"

Ylandra smiles.

>Quivalin recites:

"Twas Gravena the Mages

whose name graced the page..."

>(Dremerie drops the strip with a disgusted glance at Toemain and grinds

it into the dirt with her stiletto heeled boot.)

>Quivalin exclaims, "er Mage, that is.. hmm, a slur, I must be drunk!"

>nod gravYou nod to Gravena.

>Tarlina just left.

>Kamerie's offer to you has expired.

>(Gravena closes her eyes to summon the essences for her song.)

>Ylandra says, "Quivalin, you are a drunk, that's true."

>Ylandra smirks.

>Quivalin asks, "Do I look drunk, Dremerie?"

>Toemain nods to Quivalin.

>Quivalin stares at you.

>You exclaim, "Quiv, if I answer that, I'll rue the day til sunday!"

>You say, "Gravena, how about I take another... I know I kinda shocked

you with the poison routine."

>Gravena says, "Works for me, Dremerie."

Ylandra says, "that's what I thought"

>Gravena says, "Thank ye."

>Dremerie smiles as she reaches back into her pouch fishing for another

name.

>(Dremerie blinks in wonder as she pulls out a gold encrusted slip.)

Quivalin says, "Isn't the sun out everyday? Well, except on that day

after Saturday. I go out drinkin', I come home. I get up.. and there

ain't no sun... I go back to bed. I get up, and it's time to start the

workweek."

>You ask, "Now, who would waste gold like this?"

>Quivalin exclaims, "Gotta be a mage, they filthy rich!"

>Ylena says, "Heh."

>Ylena says, "I would."

>Ylandra nods to Quivalin.

>Ylena grins.

>Ylandra says, "filthy something"

>(Dremerie carefully opens the strip over her money pouch so she won't

lose a single atom of it.)

>Ylandra giggles.

>Ylena says, "I applaud the taste of that person."

You recite:

"And the next vic... er performer is

Phoenixsong!

>Jhernish says, "Stop eating people Ylena"

>Phoenixsong groans.

>Quivalin recites:

"And then Phoenixsong

does come along..."

>Phoenixsong says, "This piece has something of an introduction that I

have done in prose, rather than rhyme and verse."

>Phoenixsong recites:

"Since the day I first came into existence, I have been under the

influence of the great spirit Wanderlust."

>Phoenixsong recites:

"In fact, my parents have told me stories of how I disappeared from

my cradle days at a time as a young child with naught but a toy drum in

my hand!"

>Phoenixsong recites:

"Thus, it was rather evident that I was destined to become a

musician, a traveler...a Bard."

Phoenixsong recites:

"But after I left home, I spent a long time pondering just what I

should do with myself."

>Phoenixsong recites:

"And the path of the Bard converge with that of the philosopher."

>Phoenixsong recites:

"I began a song that I knew was destined to be my life's work, and

will never be completed, not until I am."

>Phoenixsong recites:

"And so, I give you the culmination of my life's experiences, my

beliefs, and my faith in the Path of the Bard!"

>Phoenixsong sings:

"All things were put on this world for a reason

And for every soul a purpose and a season

To search the earth and the heavens eternal

From the highest cloud to depths of the infernal."

>Phoenixsong sings:

"My purpose no one can ever be sure of, but I have made my stand by

the song

And chosen the path of Bard's adventure, beautiful, mysterious, and

long.

In my heart of hearts I can feel the song, in the darkest night it

drives me on

It rides the wind like the mischievous sprite, and I rest assured

it will always steer me right."

>Phoenixsong sings:

"Like the blade forged from the finest hammer

True as the North Star's brilliant glimmer

My song holds steady across the lands

The notes flow as silk like Time's sands."

>Phoenixsong sings:

"My melody is one of laughter, my tempo racing ever faster

My harmony is the breath of the land

My grand instrument is my soul's hand!"

>Phoenixsong sings:

"I journey on, along this path

Never fearing the aftermath

My fate is mine, the dice not cast

Until I decide, and breath my last."

>Phoenixsong sings:

"And thus my message I do deliver

Across plain of white and shining river

Hold your soul up to the light

And see which path for you is right!"

>Phoenixsong smiles and wipes his brow.

>Phoenixsong grins.

>(Dremerie glances in the pouch to be sure Toemain didn't put another

poisonned something in there....)

>Toemain grins.

>You glare at Toemain.

>Ahmeuseng nods.

>(Dremerie reaches into the pouch, grabs the first strip of parchment

her fingers touch...)

>Dremerie smiles with relief as she pulls out a clean, neatly folded

piece.

You exclaim, "Now THIS is how the papers should be!"

>Quivalin says, "if it's clean, toemain has never touched it"

>(Dremerie opens the paper up...)

>You exclaim, "Next up! Joshie!"

>Joshie gasps.

>Joshie says, "Only reason it's clean is cause I had Dremerie write mine

for me."

>Quivalin recites:

"Joshie is the next to sing

and do that entertaining thing..."

>You exclaim, "I didn't write it! Psionix did!"

>Ylandra says, "no he didn't! I did"

>Ylandra pokes you in the ribs.

>You chuckle at Ylandra.

Joshie recites:

"The Ballad of Joshie Squashy."

>Joshie clears his throat.

>Joshie says, "La la la la la."

>Joshie sings:

"In a small port town, not far from here

There was a dwarven lad

His ego size was very large

The citizens called him bad."

>Joshie frowns.

>Joshie sings:

"This dwarven lad, who we'll call Josh

He loved to have good fun

There were some other people though...

Who liked to hit and run."

>Joshie scowls.

>Joshie clenches his fist.

>Joshie sings:

"There was an altercation once

Involving lots of biting

Josh sporting his rolton costume

The foe dressed up for fighting."

>Joshie taps a vicious rolton costume.

>Joshie smirks.

>Joshie sings:

"The rolton leaps from hiding!

Its teeth sink deep and true

The wizard is not at all pleased

A magic phrase pursues."

>Joshie fidgets.

>Joshie sings:

"The rolton gasps and screams in pain

The ground begins to boil!He flails and coughs and shrieks and gags

His pants he may have soiled."

>Joshie blushes a nice shade of off-pink.

>Joshie sings:

"The dwarven lamb resists the spell

And collapses to the ground

As he awakes, he blinks and stands

The wizard? Nowhere to be found."

>Joshie clenches his fist.

>Joshie sings:

"The dwarf sheds his sheep's clothing

Equips his battle gear

He creeps into the darkened shadows

And cowers there in fear."

>Joshie cowers.

>Joshie sings:

"After what may have been minutes or days

The wizard again returns

He sits to rest his weary bones

The ground is red with burns."

>Joshie clears his throat.

>Joshie sings:

"The dwarf leaps from hiding to attack!

His axe tears through bone

The wizard crashes to the ground

Out seeps a final groan."

>Joshie raises his fist defiantly.

>Joshie sings:

"The onlookers aren't pleased at all

They web and sleep and stun

And bind and blind and all that junk

The opposite of fun."

>Joshie frowns.

>Joshie sings:

"And so that day, they kicked him out

The dwarf trudged north in pity

So now, I live in the town of Rone

And this now ends my ditty!"

>Joshie stands up.

>Joshie bows.

>Joshie sits down.

>Joshie says, "Well, it was a true tale.."

Joshie shrugs.

>You nod to Gravena.

>(Dremerie slips on her gloves and picks up the poisoned paper once

again.)

>You glare at Toemain.

>You grumble.

>Toemain gulps.

>(Dremerie looks at the paper.)

>You gasp.

>You exclaim, "The name changed!!!"

>Gravena glances at you.

>You glare at Toemain.

>Toemain grins.

>Tava blinks at you.

>You ask, "What kinda magic you doing?"

>Quivalin says, "it's not really poison, it's just that Toe's sweat is

toxic.. smeels like poison, though...."

>Toemain just nudged Quivalin.

>You exclaim, "Name on this got changed to Falisene!"

>Tava gazes in awe at you.

>Falisene says, "oh my"

>Falisene stands up.

>You ask, "Gravena, did you change the name?"

>Falisene smiles neversouly

>Gravena says, "Aye, Drem."

>Quivalin recites:

"And now Lady Falisene

will endeavor to cause a scene..."

>Gravena says, "Falisene just has a great song."

>Ylena says, "I would have used serene."

>Ylena leans on Quivalin.

>Falisene says, "I first have to give credit for this song/story to

Toemain with help from the lady Sarina"

>Lemandria ducks her head.

>Toemain beams happily at Falisene!

>Falisene recites:

"Long ago I was young

I laugh at the things I used to say

And what I thought was worthy

It all doesn't seem to fit today"

>Falisene recites:

"I thought love was something only felt

Not something that lived and thrived each day

And grown in some mysterious way

Binding us together in its magical belt"

>Falisene recites:

"Days dawned brightly when first we met

Love seemed to glow about us

And the time we spent together

Made the glow blossom like a flower"

>Falisene recites:

"Days so long and golden

Even in the winter's overcast

Spent with you in pleasure's bliss

Two strangers that become one"

>(Falisene searches in her burlap sack and pulls out a rusted water can

and pours a red liquid into her pewter drinking cup.)

>Falisene recites:

"And this is the song we sang:"

>Fasco just arrived.

>Gravena glances at Falisene.

>Gravena blinks.

>Falisene sings:

"When the sun sets, and the moon does rise....

Eyes, skies and I surmise..."

>Falisene sings:

"Life is met with uncertainty

Until you find your destiny"

>Falisene sings:

"Sunset over uncharted sea

Leaves me wondering just what might be

Gazing out over pink reflected waters

Wondering what might be next

Because I met you"

>Falisene sings:

"Wonderment gives way to thoughts

Leaves me thinking of the things that might be next

Wondering as the moon shines silver over the hills

Thinking what might be next

Because I met you...."

>(Falisene takes a long sip from her pewter drinking cup.)

>Falisene sings:

"When the sun sets, and the moon does rise....

Eyes, skies and I surmise..."

>Falisene sings:

"Life is met with uncertainty

Until you find your destiny"

>Falisene sings:

"As the evening sun sets and the bright stars light

Moonlight reflections sparkle and dance

Like the sparks I've seen in your eyes

Of electric pulses of blue

Because I met you "

>Falisene sings:

"As the moon sails high across the darkness

Pouring her silvery light over us here below

The light reflects from your eyes and catches mine...

Who knows what might yet be

Because I met you.. "

>Falisene sings:

"When the sun sets, and the moon does rise....

Eyes, skies and I surmise..."

>Falisene sings:

"Life is met with uncertainty

Until you find your destiny"

>Falisene sings:

"Just the slightest of pink brightens up the sky

The dawn bringing thoughts of you

And the life we might share

Starting anew with you

Because I met you "

>Falisene sings:

"Night makes way for dawn and she comes stealing

Revealing things about you I could not see before...

The clear light of morning bathes us in its glory.....

And we see together what might be next....

Because I met you."

>Falisene sings:

"And our eyes spied, and met

And we knew it was destiny"

>Falisene recites:

"Ahh, such sweet romance we shared

Sitting close together staring out over life

Knowing what our life would be

Such sweet love as never seen before"

>Falisene recites:

"And in truth it was so sweet

We joined together then

Hands touching, reaching

Finding acceptance within our grasp"

>Falisene smiles softly as she opens her silver charm and gazes on the

images inside.

>Falisene recites:

"And this is the song you sang to me:"

>Falisene sings:

"The rain splatters near us

As we sit beneath the tree

Gentle beads of moisture

Appear upon your hair"

>Falisene sings:

"We sit there secret smile

We both enjoy the weather

A chance to snuggle near

To be with my dear"

>Falisene sings:

"Hand in hand, we giggle

Passionate rain drenched kisses

Our hearts pound loudly

Silly spring romance"

>Falisene sings:

"Our love has blossomed fully

Like the tulips in the field

Flowering at night

Waving proudly in the light"

>Falisene sings:

"Stroking rain soaked hair

We sit there silently

The rain begins to stop

But the glow remains the same"

>Falisene sings:

"You called the lightning

The storm it was brief

But the love we share is endless

For your lightning struck my heart"

>Falisene smiles as she touches her charm, rubbing it gently between her

fingers.

>Falisene recites:

"We married in the summer

Thought never to part

I still dream about those days

Not fading from my mind"

>Falisene recites:

"Life was song and merriment

Cares we both lifted away

And the kisses and passion that filled us

Kept our love growing every day"

>Falisene recites:

"And with passion comes babies

And love found new meaning

In every one we had

It was then I knew how much more love could be"

>Falisene recites:

"And at night when the shadows came

And the darkness seemed to surround

We'd share our voices with love

And scared away the fears"

>Falisene recites:

"And this is what I sang:"

>Falisene sings:

"Cuddle up close and close your eyes

Let me kiss your cheek and make you smile

Sleep will come, peace for just a while

And let me sing you this lullaby"

>Falisene sings:

"Snuggle here, next to me

The darkness comes and covers thee

Sleep will come, her gifts bestow

Rest ye while the sun is low "

>Falisene sings:

"Hug you tight before you sleep

To let you know the love we keep

Teary eyes rest, tomorrow anew

And I'll keep watch over you "

>Falisene sings:

"In your warmth I'll slumber deep

While the stars watch with you keep

Dream of days together yet

And days gone by we won't forget "

>Falisene sings:

"When morning doth touch your sleepy face

Another day more to play and race

So rest the rest of childhood

Before those days are done "

>Falisene sings:

"Cuddle up and close your eyes

Love of mine, sleep safe and sound

Wake with the sun when it arrives

And live another day new-found"

>Falisene recites:

"Arms and legs and noise

Ahh what beautiful music

Shouting, fighting, playing

Making house and writing on walls"

>Falisene recites:

"Didn't think I'd make it through those years

Wouldn't have without you

To hold me close and comfort me

Using love in its many forms"

>Falisene recites:

"But too quickly, much too quickly

The days went by like flashes in the night

Dark locks turned silver

And shown pale pink in the setting sun"

>Falisene recites:

"Carrying us ever onward with the sunset

And life changed too much for me

Slower, grayer but wiser

But still the heart of a girl"

>Falisene smiles as she gathers her crocheted shawl over her shoulders.

>Falisene recites:

"And this is the song I sang:"

>Falisene sings:

"I made my nest so solid so true,

Built it with smiles, tears and fears,

With heart and love, walls so strong,

Nothing could break them down "

>Falisene sings:

"Our little duckings follow near,

So funny the way they walk,

But following ever so close

Never too far from the nest"

>Falisene sings:

"Butterfly girls swirling,

Floating on air,

Dancing the dance of childhood,

Until those days are done"

>Falisene sings:

"We packed the nest with twigs and mud

And all the essential things

To protect us against a rainy day

And then watched as the water fell"

>Falisene sings:

"And then one day it happened

Not all at once, not in a flash

Our duckings don't follow so near

Don't watch the water coming down "

>Falisene sings:

"Butterfly girls swirling,

Floating on air,

Dancing the dance of childhood,

Until those days are done"

>Falisene sings:

"The nest we built so long ago

To keep the weather out

Was never strong enough

To keep our ducklings in"

Falisene sings:

"And now like the caterpillar

Has turned into butterfly

Our nest is all but empty

Cast away with the rain"

>Falisene sings:

"Butterfly girls swirling,

Floating on air,

Dancing the dance of childhood,

Until those days are done"

>Falisene recites:

"And off they flew away

Leaving only me and you

To deal with the quiet left behind

And a piece of our hearts unraveled"

>Falisene recites:

"Not so long ago you left too

As time always has its way

And now I know all about love

And the many forms it takes"

>Falisene recites:

"And how I can still love someone complete

Still alive only in my heart

We thought our love was endless

And perhaps we weren't wrong"

>Falisene recites:

"For it endures within me

In its very many forms

And now I pass it on

To you and all who'll hear."

>(Falisene lifts her chin and gazes off into the distance before meeting

the eyes of those gathered.)

>Falisene recites:

"Keep the ones you love

Alive always within you.

And thank you for allowing

Me to share mine with you."

>Dremerie smiles lightly as she reaches into the pouch pulling out a

greenish colored parchment.

>You exclaim, "This one looks like someone wiped their nose on it!"

>You wrinkle your nose.

>Quivalin exclaims, "Toemain!"

Toemain coughs.

>(Toemain wipes at his nose)

>Toemain sniffs.

Gravena says, "Must have been Toe, Drem."

>Gravena's face turns slightly pale.

>Gravena says, "I really do try to teach him manners."

>You say, "And the name I read through the yuck is...."

>You exclaim, "Jhernish!"

>Jhernish stands up.

>Jhernish recites:

"Actually that slip is a halucinegeic moss, I grow it for only

medicinal purposes"

>Quivalin recites:

"Sing for us now, Jhernish

if that be yer wish!"

>Jhernish raises his hand.

>Jhernish recites:

"Well, it seems that ego and opportunity have converged

I have just written this piece for this contest - never heard by

anyone outloud .. including myself"

>Jhernish sings:

"Bard's are the salt of the earth it is said

We spice up most any occasion

We make up the ditties that roam through your head

And we speak with fancy loquacion"

>Jhernish sings:

"Now I am a Bard of limited means

I grew up in west Shantytown

As a child my first instrument was made from beans

The music came once eaten down"

Jhernish sings:

"Now my mother was not known for wisdom you see

As my eldest brother Ratdar has said

He never trained twice in oe'r two whole months

He spent most in the catacombs dead"

>Jhernish sings:

"Now my brother's retired, sword on its rack

And my path's different from him

I hunt with the wind behind my back

I figure my stench could incapacitate them"

>Jhernish sings:

"I once fought an ogre with an old rusty fork

Needless to say that I lost

But the ogre had utensils to eat me with

Then he used my belt when he flossed"

>Jhernish sings:

""Empath's friend" is the name by which I'm known

My wounds are both large and impressive

Just stop up in Pinefar to see my insides

My searching for death is obsessive"

>(Jhernish waves his broken right hand about)

Jhernish says, "The pains, I put myself through to entertain"

>Jhernish sings:

"Now my dear friends I appear before you

With these tales that I just composed

Some tales from my life, most decidedly true

Writing a song so fast is harder than I supposed"

>Jhernish bows.

>Jhernish sits down.

>Ylandra asks, "Who's our next contestant?"

>Lynda stands up.

>Dremerie smiles as she quickly reaches into her pouch, pulling out

another slip of parchment.

>You sniff.

>You exclaim, "Ooooo! Violets!"

>You say, "And the next contestent is..."

>You exclaim, "Aemergin"

>Aemergin smiles.

>Aemergin stands up.

>(Aemergin walks to the front of the room.)

>Quivalin recites:

"The performer is Aemergin

Aemergin, I say ag'in!"

>Aemergin says, "Let me introduce myself for those of you I haven't met

.. or sung for."

>Aemergin recites:

"I am the son of Poetry.

Poetry, son of Reflection.

Reflection, son of Meditation.

Meditation, son of Lore.

Lore, son of Research."

>Aemergin recites:

"Research, son of Great Knowledge.

Great Knowledge, son of Intelligence.

Intelligence, son of Comprehension.

Comprehension, son of Wisdom.

Wisdom, son of Jastev, Cholen and Tilamaire."

Aemergin places a hand over his heart.

>Aemergin bows.

>Aemergin says, "I am Aemergin, the bard."

>Aemergin says, "My song tonite is about a bard, being as how we're all

bards gathered here."

>Aemergin smiles.

>Aemergin clears his throat.

>Aemergin grins.

>Aemergin sings:

"A long time ago, in a land most far away,

There stood a peaceful village which might still be there today,

This Town had a bane, The Jester was his name,

He had a band of men and terror was his reign."

>Aemergin sings:

"No one could ever equal him at throwing words or puns

He terrorized their village, raped their daughters killed their

sons,

He stole their crops and burned their homes and none could shed a

tear,

For the jester made them smile while his company made them fear."

>Aemergin sings:

"O the grown men would run and the children would hide,

The women would faint to the ground,

He had bells on his shoes, a baton at his side,

And they feared when the jester came to town."

>Aemergin sings:

"With his eyes shining dark, the jester made his mark,

He'd a face white as death all around,

He'd a wit sharp as knives and they'd run for their lives,

For they feared when the jester came to town."

>Aemergin sings:

"One day there came into the town a man with a sash of black.

He had a song in his voice and a harp on his back,

A traveled man from far away his road was long and hard,

But he'd stood it well though he'd been through hell,

And he called himself the bard."

>Aemergin sings:

"The Bard performed a juggling show, Those balls he made them whirl,

'Til the jester interrupted by insulting a young girl.

The bard he made a snide remark, and thus he sealed his doom.

For the jester said, "You'll face me in a punfight at high noon!""

"Next morning bright and early, the bard was nowhere found,

The town was quiet as a church, no one dared make a sound.

The jester rode into the town, no one dared even think,

He stopped into the tavern, and he got himself a drink.

At noon the jester stepped outside, the sun was shining bright,

The jester said, "I knew he'd run, this town is mine tonight!""

>Aemergin sings:

"My noon it seems is higher than yours, rang out in a voice so

clear,

So the jester stopped and turned around, and he then began to fear.

The bard jumped lightly to the ground, the subject had been set.

So the jester steeled his voice, and he said, "A bet's a bet.

I have a sage to visit about your comment on the thyme"

The bard replied, "Let's spice things up." In a wicked sounding

rhyme."

>Aemergin sings:

"The jester shot back quickly, "Are those cloven hooves you wear?"

Why no, but if you're interested, there's a rolton over there.

The bard thus scored the first real blow, and he thought he might

have won.

But the jester said, "I wooldn't" and the pun fight had begun."

"From rolton the subject went to war and continued towards the

night.

From knights came swords and armor, in a truly glorious fight.

Fighting went back into war, they wore out subjects, true.

But truth itself it was no match, for the vice they had to screw."

>Aemergin sings:

"The bard nailed that one on the head, and this the jester saw.

It's hard to ware a subject when your throat is hoarse and raw.

But the mane pun of the evening, from the tale up to the head,

Was a triple pun and when 'twas done, The jester lay there dead."

>Aemergin smiles as he slows down the tune a bit..

>Aemergin sings:

"So the punfight had been won, and the town owed their lives,

To a skill with words unmatched, for which every true bard strives,

So the bard finished up his show and he sang well into night,

For the people of that town threw a feast as was his right.

Next morning the bard rode away, and the people said goodbye,

And the lass who'd been insulted asked with a tear in her eye,"

>Aemergin recites:

""Have you any words to leave with us before you go milord?""

>Aemergin recites:

"Remember lass, the pun is truly mightier than the sword!""

>Aemergin grins.

>Aemergin sings:

"O the grown men would run and the children would hide,

The women would faint to the ground,

He had bells on his shoes, a baton at his side,

And they feared when the jester came to town."

>Aemergin sings:

"With his eyes shining dark, the jester made his mark,

He'd a face white as death all around,

He'd a wit sharp as knives and they'd run for their lives,

For they feared when the jester came to town."

>Aemergin smiles as his voice trails off.

>Aemergin places a hand over his heart.

>Aemergin bows.

>Dremerie smiles softly as she glances into her pouch.

>(Dremerie reaches in and grabs out a parchment that's covered in

musical notations.)

>You give your eyebrow a little workout.

>Dremerie opens it up...)

>Ylandra asks, "someone stuck their song in your bag by mistake?"

>You exclaim, "Arpeggia!"

>Arpeggia gasps.

>Arpeggia's face turns slightly pale.

>Arpeggia says, "oh my"

>Arpeggia grins.

>Arpeggia stands up.

>(Vivecar pushs Arpeggia forward)

(Arpeggia walks to the front of the room.)

>(Arpeggia straightens her cloak and brushes all the wrinkles out. She

smiles at the audience and tucks her hair behind her ears.)

>Arpeggia recites:

"Not so very long ago I was brought to these lands with very little

information about who I was and from whence I came.'"

>Arpeggia recites:

"I was lost and alone, and quite frankly was feeling sorry for

myself.'"

>Arpeggia recites:

"I mustered up the courage to go hunting. I always thought it

strange that during a battle, I had an overwhelming desire to sing. I

never knew what to sing, but the thirst in my throat for a drink of song

was unbearable. It frequently left me feeling empty.'"

"After one of my fruitful adventures, I settled into my favorite

spot against the crate right outside the entrance to the catacombs. I

could feel a heaviness weighing on my lids. "

"My eyes began to close...hypnotically...and just before I fell into

a very peaceful sleep, I saw a sparkle of light about two feet in front

of me. I would swear that I heard it calling me by name, luring me to

join it. It was so comforting. I immediately sensed that this was

something familiar to me, but I was beyond return. I closed my eyes and

set out on another adventure, of sorts. "

>Arpeggia shifts her weight.

>Arpeggia recites:

"Once consumed by my slumber, I was greeted by a radiance. A light

as beautiful as the one that had lured me into sleep. And, again, i

sensed familiarity. Nothing I could grasp...just a feeling. I reached

out to touch it, and as my hand approached this celestial light, it

transformed into this beautiful woman......more beautiful than anything

I had ever imagined. "

>Arpeggia smiles softly.

>Arpeggia recites:

"She began to speak to me. And the thirst in my throat returned.

The words flowed from her mouth, trickling over her lips. Her spoken

voice was as musical as a song. A sweet, soothing lullaby that held me

close. "

"I didn't understand her. She spoke to me, but her words were not

familiar to me, as if she were speaking in another language. Yet with

every breath she took

with every sound she produced, my once parched throat slowly

became quenched. I felt her words extinguishing my fire. And my desire

to sing returned again."

"She became quiet and looked at me, searching beyond my eyes. And

as our gaze met, I became overwhelmed with joy. For the first time I

felt like I belonged. Here. With her. But I still did not know who she

was and why she was here with me. Only that she was familiar. She

smiled at me and raised one finger to her lips. "

"She reached into her cloak, and carefully removed an ornate and

intricately crafted, gold filigree harp

Finer than any I had ever seen. Her love and adoration for this

harp was apparent, for she seemed to cradle it in her arms, as if it

were one born of her. "

"I watched in awe...unable to speak

and with great eloquence she nestled her harp under her arm. She

began to strum. Her fingers barely touched the strings, but the sound

was powerful

and as the light glistened off each string, I heard a single voice

intertwined in perfect harmony with the melody. I thought it was she,

but as I watched her face, her lips did not move. "

"It was beautiful. Her music spoke to me. The words flowed through

my ears, but she did not speak. Yet, I understood. "

>Arpeggia smiles.

>Arpeggia recites:

"She never faltered in strumming her harp, and the sound, tho made

up of many strings, seemed one. I listened for a long time. I was

captivated by the music. I did not want it to stop."

"After what seemed like an eternity, she opened her mouth. Words

again flowed from her lips. But this time, they were not spoken ...

they were sung. Her lyric voice was even more beautiful than the melody

she so eloquently played on her harp."

"She finally revealed her name to me in her song, and like magic, it

was inscribed in my mind.....every note, every word. I will sing it for

you now."

>Arpeggia removes a dark ebonwood lute from in her modwir lute case.

>Arpeggia wraps her fingers around the neck of her lute and strikes an

ecstatic chord.

>(Arpeggia cradles the lute in her arm as she saw her mother do her

harp.)

>Arpeggia clears her throat.

>Arpeggia smiles tenderly to the heavens above.

>Arpeggia sings:

"My sweet, little Arpeggia, the twinkle of mine eyes

The lands you doth mean to me

Although I am gone, I'll sing you this song

And will try to put your mind at ease."

>Arpeggia sings:

"I was known long ago as a maiden of lore

Muspian was my chosen name

I want you to see, where this grand legacy

Will take you, and what may lie in store."

>Arpeggia strums the lute's lower strings, adding a heart-trembling low

rumble to the melody.

>Arpeggia sings:

"I can not reveal all the ancestrial gifts

That will be shown to you over time

You must seek out the truth of who you are

And remember of my voice sublime. "

"You must continue creation of the gift of your song

That I have bestowed upon you

And know when you sing, I'll be right by your side

To guide you to know what is true."

>(Arpeggia drops her head momentarily and wipes a tear from her cheek.)

>Paying studious attention to her lute's strings, Arpeggia begins

layering major seventh chords as a foundation to a song of inspiration.

>Arpeggia sniffs.

>Arilyia just arrived.

>Arpeggia sings:

"I'll forever be with you in thought and in song

And will lend you guidance as I see fit

For you are my beloved one whom I cherish and adore

And my daughter whom I shall never forget."

>Arpeggia sings:

"So now I must leave from your visual realm

And continue my quest for harmony

In both lands of old, and songs of lore

Keep song, and you too shall be free."

>Arpeggia smiles.

>Arpeggia sighs lovingly.

>Arpeggia says, "After her song ended she returned her harp to her

cloak. I noticed that a tear had formed in each of her eyes. She

reached out and held my hands and as she gave me a final smile, two

tears fell from her eyes and into my hands, one on each. My palms began

to tingle and she disappeared. "

>Arpeggia performs a series of vigorous strums that uplift the spirit in

their powerful sound.

>Arpeggia says, "And I awoke."

>Arpeggia shifts her weight.

>Striking a final vibrant chord, Arpeggia allows the song to fade into

silence.

>(Arpeggia tilts her head to the air, as if she were intently listening

to something. )

>Arpeggia rubs her chin thoughtfully.

>Arpeggia says, "I sometimes hear a melody.....a wondrous tune, and each

note speaks a different word to me. It is like my mother's voice, and

it comforts me. It tells me that she will come again. And when I sing,

I feel an unusual tingling in my hands. "

>(Arpeggia smiles brightly.)

>(Arpeggia clasps her hands together and rubs her palms against each

other. )

>Arpeggia says, "She is here with me now. She loves to hear me sing."

>Arpeggia smiles once again to the heavens.

Arpeggia curtsies.

>Arpeggia smiles.

>Arpeggia asks, "can i breathe now?"

>Arpeggia scratches her head.

>Arpeggia wipes the sweat from her brow.

>(Dremerie shivers as she sniffs the air, smelling an impending meal...

she quickly stuffs her hand in the pouch, and pulls out...)

>Lemandria exclaims, "A turkey!"

>Lemandria ducks her head.

>Quivalin asks, "A pretzel?"

>Ylandra begins chuckling at Lemandria.

>Falisene grins.

>Joshie says, "A tart with a name on it."

>Dyrkyn says, "If it's a turkey, it's gotta be me..."

>Ylandra says, "a banana."

>Dyrkyn chuckles.

>(Starsnuffer looks around for a halfling contestant.)

>Ahmeuseng says, "A menu for dinner."

>Dremerie smiles with delight as she see a mongrel cockatrice feather

stuck in the folds of the parchment.

>(Dremerie she opens it...)

>Pablo exclaims, "a feather!"

>You exclaim, "Ahmeuseng!"

>Ahmeuseng exclaims, "Oh, no....after all this!"

>You raise an eyebrow in Lorissia's direction.

>Ahmeuseng says, "I'm so nervous."

>Arpeggia rubs Ahmeuseng gently.

>You exclaim, "Not to worry hon. You'll do fine!"

>Ahmeuseng says, "Well, okay. Let's see if I can remember..."

>(Ahmeuseng clears her throat...)

>(Ahmeuseng appears nervous. She looks beseechingly at her friends...)

>Ahmeuseng says, "Please, no whispering..."

>(Ahmeuseng looks at Arpeggia)

>Ahmeuseng says, "of plans to trip me up"

>Ahmeuseng winks at Vivecar.

>(Ahmeuseng chuckles)

>Ahmeuseng says, "I'd like to begin with a short rhyme or two...just a

brief introduction..."

Vivecar pokes Ahmeuseng in the ribs.

>Vivecar sticks out his tongue.

>Ahmeuseng says, "then I'll follow that with..."

>Ahmeuseng says, "the serious stuff."

>Ahmeuseng giggles.

>Ahmeuseng says, "I hope that plan suits everyone. If it doesn't, I'm in

a vat of witches' brew already."

>Ahmeuseng removes a rosewood mandolin from in her feather cloak.

>(Ahmeuseng flicks a couple of her corkscrew ringlets out of her face,

takes an unusually deep breath, and squints as if trying to remember

something very important.)

>Ahmeuseng recites:

""I'm AHmeuseng of Swallowtail, my quest is joy and laughter.

with silly rhymes or lilting song, it's fun that I am after.

My mandolin, though oft untuned, is versed in several styles,

Twill strum your mood from sad to glad, and paint your face with

smiles."

>Ahmeuseng recites:

""Come, share with me your silly tales, there's meat for happy

joking,

and you could be the victim of the fun that I'll be poking.

I love to sing and dance and rhyme, it sets my spirit flying.

Be happy, smile with each new day, life's fun. There's no

denying."

>(Ahmeuseng straightens her always-cockeyed moonflower crown. Then,

looking quite flustered...)

>Ahmeuseng says, "oh, dear. I must..."

>(Ahmeuseng drops to her knees and bows her head in prayer.)

>Ahmeuseng says, "Great and good Cholen, my prayer begs your patience,

understanding and guidance, and if it be not too much to ask, your

blessing on my quest to bring some laughter and joy to all gathered

here."

>(Ahmeuseng rises from her knees her mandolin ready. She strikes up a

lively but brief fanfare, sounding only one or two rather sour notes.)

>(Ahmeuseng reddens noticeably, and glances around with an embarrassed

smile, then chuckles...)

>Ahmeuseng says, "You are about to hear...*A Jolly Tale*"

>(Ahmeuseng resumes her strumming with a marching beat for a measure or

two...)

>Ahmeuseng sings:

"Oh-h-h-h....

The..."

>Ahmeuseng sings:

"Gathering of the family, for joy and drink and funning,

Can't beat the thrill of setting out to do the daily hunting.

With shields and swords, with herbs and spells, the group joins up

for fighting,

Then off they go, so merrily, just hoping for a sighting."

>(Ahmeuseng stands and begins a comedic march, stepping around or over

whatever is in her path...)

>Ahmeuseng sings:

"Rashaina leads, (though some say -- pulls), Arpeggia*s bouncing and

singing,

Lord Vivecar, he shakes his head and mutters something stinging.

Belize, Melize, the chattering sibs, dance happily down the trail.

Where*s Ahmeuseng? It*s no surprise...she bringeth up the tail."

>(Ahmeuseng continues her march, her moonflower crown more askew than

when she began...)

>Ahmeuseng sings:

"Well, on they go, this merry band, in search of nasty critters.

They wander through the forests green...(Ahmeuseng getteth

jitters)

Melize, Belize, Arpeggia, too, their weapons at the ready,

Attack the beasts while Rashie casts, good Vivecar stands steady."

>(Ahmeuseng halts her march and repeatedly, rhythmically, thrusts her

mandolin at imaginary foes...)

>(Ahmeuseng breathlessly resumes her singing...)

>Ahmeuseng sings:

"The beasts fall fast, black blood runs free, the merry band is

fending.

*Good job*, shouts Viv, and Rash applauds. The battle goes,

unending.

But, Ahmeuseng, now where is she? All turn around to find her.

Oh, there she is, dead as can be, her shield still slung behind

her!"

>(Ahmeuseng regains her breath and some of her composure.)

>(Ahmeuseng nudges her moonflower crown back up off her nose and, with a

sweep of her feathered cape, curtsies frightfully low.)

>Ahmeuseng says, "thank you. Thank you all. If you had a little

laugh..."

>Ahmeuseng says, "I've been well rewarded."

>Ahmeuseng curtsies.

>(Ahmeuseng is really sweating.)

>(Arpeggia finds an old piece of cloth and offers it to Ahmeuseng to

wipe her face with.)

>(Dremerie glances into her pouch.)

>(Ahmeuseng wipes her face with Arpeggia's old cloth.)

>Dremerie smiles as she reaches in, grabs a parchment and quickly

reads...

>You exclaim, "Next up!"

>You say, "Karanaya!~"

>Karanaya says, "and mine is short"

>Karanaya blushes a nice shade of off-pink.

>Karanaya stands up.

>Karanaya smiles shyly as she does her best to not look too scared.

>(Karanaya clears her throat and says, "This is my adaptation of an old

love song.' and lowering her voice breathlessly whispers and my very

first performance... )

>Karanaya removes a rosewood mandolin from in her black hooded cloak.

>Tava beams happily at Karanaya!

>With a twinkle in her eye, Karanaya begins a jaunty melody on her

mandolin.

>Karanaya sings:

"My heart is like a singing bird

Whose nest is in a watered shoot"

>Karanaya sings:

"My heart is like an apple tree

Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit"

>Karanaya sings:

"My heart is like a rainbow shell

That paddles in a haleyon sea"

>Karanaya sings:

"My heart is glader than all these

Because my love has come to me."

>Karanaya begins building a complex, upbeat melody in a major key, her

fingers lightly springing over the strings.

>Karanaya sings:

"Raise me a dais of silk and down

Hang it with vair and purple dyes"

>Karanaya sings:

"Carve it in doves, and pomegranates

And peacocks with a hundred eyes"

>Karanaya sings:

"Work it in gold and silver grapes

In leaves and fleur-de-lys"

>Karanaya sings:

"Because the birthday of my life

Is come,... my love is come to me."

>Putting a variation in her strum, Karanaya runs through the verse and

into a catchy chorus that will stick in your head for days.

>Kamerie stands up.

With a final jaunty chord, Karanaya stills the strings of her mandolin.

>Karanaya blushes a nice shade of off-pink.

>Karanaya bows.

>Arpeggia beams!

> Dremerie smiles as she reaches in and pulls out a crumpled slip...

>You say, "Dyrkyn"

>Dyrkyn stands up.

>Dyrkyn nods.

>Dyrkyn recites:

"This work is constantly being updated,

In fact, I just rewrote it for the 21'st tiem tonite."

>Dyrkyn recites:

"This song is written especially for weddings,

Simply because I'm single,

And I get called to stand up for them...

All too often."

>Dyrkyn mutters something about groomsman..

Dyrkyn grins.

>Dyrkyn picks up his mandolin and strikes the opening chords of a joyful

tune.

>Dyrkyn sings:

"It's about time you spend together

And time goes of forever

But the traces of this time you've spent

Together in your merriment."

>Dyrkyn's harmony dances about the melody, intertwining about it with

pure, shining notes.

>Dyrkyn sings:

"Have faded of to memories

But the memories never fade away, with you."

>Dyrkyn smiles as he plays a short instrumental.

>Dyrkyn picks up the pace of the song slightly, fingers modulating

between chords in a happy major key.

>Dyrkyn sings:

"I bless the day you met

And I bid you don't forget

The love you share will stand forever true!"

>Dyrkyn walks his fingers up the neck of his mandolin, making a bright

run into the sunny chorus.

>Dyrkyn sings:

"It's about time you spend together

May both your days go on forever

May the time you spend have meaning for you two!"

>Dyrkyn finishes the verse of the song then begins the next, further

embellishing the melody by adding an ecstatic moving harmony.

>Dyrkyn sings:

"If the world should stop it's turning

May your love not stop it's burning

And may all your wants and dreams ..."

>Dyrkyn smiles and pauses his playing, just for a moment.

>Dyrkyn sings:

"Come True!"

>With a final joyous flourish Dyrkyn stills his fingers on the mandolin,

allowing the final bright chord to fade into silence.

>Dyrkyn bows.

>(Dremerie glances at Quivalin as she reaches into the pouch and pulls

out a slip folded so tightly and thin that it's near invisible.)

>(Dremerie opens it up...)

>Ahmeuseng giggles.

>You exclaim, "Tava!"

>Tava just kissed Kamy.

>Tava wrings her hands.

>Kamy smiles lovingly at her twin.

>Kamy smiles at Tava.

>Tava says, "All right... this was given to an ancesstress of mine long

ago, and handed down to me... it's very special, it was a love poem to

her"

>Tava says, "This is the first time it's been performed"

>Tava blushes a nice shade of off-pink.

Tava bites her lip.

>Tava recites:

""Never Tell A Bard That Something Is Not Beautiful""

>(Tava holds up a sapphire and a ruby, turning them so they sparkle in

the light)

>Tava shows a blue sapphire her star ruby.

>Tava recites:

"The Sapphire saw the Ruby's gleam

And wished its fire to learn

And offered up its azure hue

So it might brightly burn."

Tava raises her star ruby skyward!

>(Tava lifts the ruby up above her head, the sun shining through it and

sending a red spark dancing around the room, touching briefly on

everyone standing there)

>Tava recites:

"The Ruby flashed its crimson sheen

And laughed its darkest shade

"But you are lovely, be you true

For perfect are you made.""

>Tava raises her blue sapphire skyward!

>(Tava raises the sapphire to join the ruby so that its color touches

her blue eyes, making them glow intensely)

>Tava smiles as she sets the two gems gently aside.

>Tava recites:

"The yellow of the Sun did see

The dark of earthen brown

And wished its richness as its due

Instead of its true crown."

>Tava kneels down.

>(Tava runs her fingers through the soft dirt, letting it trickle

through her fingers)

>Tava recites:

"The Earth did smile in simple glee

And bid the sun recall

"'tis Gold that's rare and does imbue

Our life from Spring to Fall.""

>(Tava lifts her face to the sun, its glow touching her golden hair and

giving her a halo of light)

>Lustra renews her song.

>Tava sings:

"The Sapphire blushed, Sun hid its beams

In modesty to hear

The telling true of Gold and Blue

And how 'tis well worn... there."

>Tava smiles and bows her head so her hair falls down over her face into

shadow, her eyes hidden by the long curtain of hair.

>Tava stands up.

Tava blushes a nice shade of off-pink.

> You say, "Only one slip left..."

>Tilarium clears his throat.

>You exclaim, "Tilarium!"

>Tilarium stands up.

>Tilarium says, "eve'n all, I shall keep this short"

>Tilarium removes a speckled silvery toy halfling from in his blue

spidersilk greatcloak.

>Tilarium raises his silvery toy halfling skyward!

>Tilarium recites:

"Everyone gather 'round

Meet little Tart who follows me around

To remind of a old friend who don't come around"

>Tilarium recites:

"Of this friend that I miss I'll now recite

Just alittle bit that I hope will be to your delight

Win or lose I do not care

Just that you enjoy the poem I'm about to share"

Tilarium recites:

"For any halfling I so make mad

Please remember that this is not to make you sad"

>Tilarium recites:

"For it is just of of my lost friend

With that said let me recite of my friend I shall not forget till

the end"

>Tilarium recites:

"I am a halfling, short from head to seat

I have hair on top of my head, and on top my feet

I'm weak but fast

Can't swing but can steal your silver last

I'm cute and cuddly..."

>Tilarium recites:

"Thought some will say I'm ugly

I am a halfling</
