Shadoedove says, "Scrolls often have low level healing spells, such as 801, which replaces 10 points of blood loss. Those who belong to the societies have signs and symbols available to help, too. Certain herbs can be foraged but usually we don't have much success with that unless you have the knack to do so like the rangers do. Training in perception is good for foraging. The more trainings you have, the more success you will have when you forage."
Shadoedove says, "But our main source of healing ourselves without empathic spells, lies in the healing reagents we have available to us in each town and village. "
Shadoedove says, "On Teras, we find the famed healer and brewer, Agarnil Kris, who offers ales to heal. They come available in flagons or barrels. The barrels weigh about 2 pounds each. The ales are listed in order on his sign as to which empath spell they replace....so ale #6...Bloody Krolvin Ale...would replace spell 806, which replaces 60 points of blood loss. This is not available in any other form. It's not found in an herb form. Other things available here are Dead Man's Pale Ale which is an ale that acts as lifekeep cleric spell 305. Another is the Dragon's Blood Porter which raises the dead, replacing Cleric spell 312. A Special note should be made here that this last ale requires 102 mana share to work correctly without failure and is also useable only on Teras."

Also, Bearheart Brew, which is a potion reportedly found here that raises the dead. Again, this only works in Pinefar and the 102 mana share would be necessary to assure its success."
Shadoedove says, "however, unless, Bearheart Brew is a backroom item, it is no longer available."

Shadoedove says, "In IceMule, we have the Dabbling family's bakery. Ma Leaftoe's Special Tart doesn't appear to be available since the IceMule Invasion. This was to heal minor nerve scars. There are a variety of healing reagents here including tarts, potions, feathers, blubber, meat pies, soups, and porridges. All with incredibly yucky names that only a warrior or ranger would find appealing."

You say, "It has become clear to me in the past year or so that one of the main problems that everyone has about empaths is that we are 'vultures'. The problem I have with this name-calling is that it is just derogatory, a part of the problem if you will, and not a part of the solution."
You say, "One of the things I have learned in life, and my basic philosophy is that you have 2 choices in life. Be a part of the problem, or a part of the solution. With that in mind, I have been listening to the gripes of you non-empaths about how we vulture our patients. One thing you need to be mindful of is that our empathic term 'vulture' is different from yours."
You say, "Empaths call vulturing stealing each other's patients or script healing a patient clean before anyone else gets a chance to help. From what I've heard, you non-empaths call us vultures simply for noticing that you're wounded and healing you. Mainly, when we haven't asked you."
You say, "To my mind, there is a difference. To yours, maybe not. But keep in mind, there are things that you can do to avoid us being 'vultures' to you. You can avoid standing around in the main healing areas. Here in town those areas are the North Gate, TSC, Voln courtyard, the AI office, and the crypt in the Graveyard. I'd mention the ledge of Shadow Valley, but that's almost always empty these days."

You say, "If you do want to be healed, just go stand in any of those places, especially NG or TSC, and without asking, you will be clean in a matter of seconds. If you don't want to be healed, run thru them. Or hide, go invis or whatever."
You say, "I know, you say we should be nice and ask. But you know what? The guy right next to you, at the same time you are yelling at us for not asking, is yelling at us for waiting and asking, meanwhile letting him die from loss of blood. You see, we are put between a rock and a hard place here. On the one hand, we can heal you and earn your wrath, or we can heal you and earn your respect. Think about that one for a while."
You say, "And for those of you who want us to be remember not to heal certain parts of your body for hunting purposes...yes, I know. That is something that most healers have to learn in their own time. I know I have been forgetful more than once and healed the broken and bloody hands of a moon hunter. And we will be going over those kinds of things for the empaths when we do our 'Empathing 101' lecture."
You say, "Most empaths, not all, but most...want to be helpful and live and work in and among the community. We are empaths because we care. We also care that you use the term vulture in a derogatory manner. It would be like empaths calling warriors murderers because they are doing their job killing critters. We heal to learn."
You say, "Try to remember that. Not all of us can hunt. Some because they rolled up an empath before they knew what all the stats meant and they keep at it because there is something that they can do to learn. (Not to mention names or point fingers, but Lavinnia is one of those. ::cough::) I can hunt when I need to, but I'm so bad at it, I try once then give up. The last time Truekillr took me hunting on the isle, I died more often than I learned anything from it."
You say, "And some of us can't hunt because of our ages. Once even the good warpaths get to a certain age, they have a hard time hunting. I'm also at that age. So, healing, at the moment is the only way I can learn. But I have learned from you who call us vultures, and most of the time, I will wait to be asked before I heal someone. No, not all the time, but I try to. However, when I'm at the voln courtyard, or NG, I will heal everyone, most of the time. Even if they yell at me."

You ask, "And since this is a dialog, there is something that I think we empaths need to learn from you about 'vulturing'. I've never had anyone tell me WHY they don't want us to heal them. I know about the hands, that's been answered, and I do respect that. But what I don't understand is the rest of your body. Why do you want us to not heal you, other than you don't want us to gain experience?"
You say, "Now, I haven't gone over too much here, on purpose. I did want you to understand that we have 2 different definitions of 'vulture' here. And not all empaths, or for that matter any profession, will care that they are doing things that are not conducive to game harmony. I hope you understand that as well. I don't like it, you don't like it. But it seems to be a part of Elanthian life that we have disruptive people in the world."

And as fer tips I think as a rogue I know about tips, like when someone is deciding to give me 1/4 1/3 or 1/2 of there boxes contense. If an empuff wants to seriously be tipped they should try to give good service. As for being healed when you haf a bleeder, I only minimize what I say if'n i'm REALLY hurt and going to die, in which case I still try to be polite, or I am sure to say "Ken someone heal my <kind of wound><body part> pray(please)?""
Despan asks, "I also think that there is no tip too big, and I hope the empaths know that their is no tip too small. A tip shows yer appreciation, and some people tip small because that's what they ken afford, now isn't that better than no tip at all?"
Despan says, "I use to have a lil' halfling empath who would mainly stay in Icemule Trace which is a very nice place for healers. Well it used to be, I am not so sure it is the nice town I once knew, but if the healers are nice and the patients are nice the healer gets a nice tip and a new friend. I try to make highlights of most empuffs that heal me."
Despan asks, "I do also think that healers should be less applied in making a black list of people other healers say to put on the list, because it ken just be a specific quarrel only having to do with the healer and the patient and the healer is trying to take advantage of their position. It is similar with some pickers I know, they tell me not to pick fer certain people because they don't tip, now how would people feel if empuffs didn't heal fer anyone who didn't tip them?"

Despan says, "There body is mauled, but this is Elanthia and in Elanthis you ken move and haf some sort of speech."
Shadoedove says, "I liked what Piriotessa had to say about it...if their group is open she assumes they want fogged"
You nod to Despan.
Danay nods to Despan.
Despan says, "O'course my group is always open because I feel special when people drag me off or do something like that."
Despan grins.

Dimwitt says, "Pardon me but here is what I have to say."
Dimwitt says, "I am an empath and have always been an empath. This body is not that old, only 22 trainings old however I empathed since before Lord Strom became a legend."
Dimwitt says, "I see lots of empaths train up to level 10 and learn all 10 empath healing spells and then switch over to the spirit circles and forget the empath circle spells. I personally think that's a sign of a vulture empath instead of empaths that honestly want to heal."
Dimwitt says, "All items I buy are mainly for the purpose of helping others. weapon and shield, armor (when I get enough coins saved) and all others will be used for others."
Dimwitt says, "I consider myself a true empath that can and will heal anything that comes my way (in fact I keep trying to heal them tree spirits). I consider a dead person to have no rights and in times of an invasion, the first priority is to get the person back on their feet. we can argue about it later."
Dimwitt says, "You want to call me a vulture even when I keep training in the empath circle of spells even though there are no more spells I can obtain at the moment then so be it."
Dimwitt says, "All I want to tell you is watch the individual empaths and see for yourself if they truely ARE vultures or if they are simply trying to help."
Dimwitt says, "I've been the only empath outside Voln for 5 hour stretches with dead being brought in all the time and I ALWAYS examine the bodies before healing them."
Dimwitt says, "By the way, most empaths really LOVE headaches or migraines so mana is a real great tip if you feel you need to tip something. Healing takes a lot of mana."
Dimwitt faces you, closes his eyes and begins chanting. Suddenly, a small bolt of energy arcs between the two of you. You gain 66 mana points!

Shadoedove just hugged Dimwitt.
Dimwitt says, "sometimes I'm tempted to die just for that reason but I simply can't bring myself to that"
Danay says, "I will disagree with you about dead people having no rights by the way."
Dimwitt asks, "and how so?"

Danay says, "Just because a person is dead does not mean they are no longer a person. They deserve respect and consideration."
Dimwitt asks, "ok mister dead person, do you want to stay dead or be alive?"
Dimwitt says, "can't RP much while dead"
Danay says, "I will always prefer remaining dead over being treated like a piece of meat."
Dimwitt says, "First, I stay where the dead are brought in and don't fog to the dead"
Danay says, "I know not everyone agrees with me on the matter, but did want to say I disagree with you."
Dimwitt says, "if you were brought in and the clerics ask me to heal you, I heal you"
Letisha nods to Dimwitt.
Danay says, "I was just discussing your philosophy."
Dimwitt says, "however my first priority is empaths and clerics to get healed and raised first but that's my personal opinion"
