Mustafo recites:

"I have asked to have assembly called because of all the people here"

>

*** Jinesse is hushing everyone. ***

>Jinesse says, "Good evening! It's great to see you all here."

>Jinesse beams!

Jinesse says, "I'd like to start out by briefly mentioning what it is mentors are exactly."

>Jinesse says, "We're an order of Lorekeepers and our roots extend back to the Arkati. Some Arkati took special interest in the elves who were one of the most highly developed races of the time, and actively sought to help them."

Jinesse says, "The Arkati passed on their knowledge, and as the years saw dimished Arkati involvement, still some continued working with select groups of elves willing to learn."

Jinesse says, "And it is here, amongst this small group of elves, that the Legacy of the Lorekeepers began."

Jinesse smiles.

Jinesse says, "Over the centuries, the order has grown and extended into different lands and peoples."

>Jinesse says, "Our goal being to help promote and spread knowledge and lore."

Jinesse says, "And it is in this spirit that we've called this gathering tonight, in hopes to learn from each other."

Jinesse beams!

>Jinesse says, "So without further ado, allow me to introduce our rogue mentors present this evening:"

>Jinesse says, "Sitting to my right is Colbrand."

>Jinesse beams happily at you!

>Jinesse says, "And to my left is Margrettha."

>Jinesse beams happily at Margrettha!

>Jinesse says, "To the left of Margrettha there is Nyte."

>Jinesse beams happily at Nyte!

>Nyte says, "Greets, All"

Jinesse exclaims, "Alright! Let's start out with some rumour control!"

>Jinesse says, "We're here this evening to discuss lockpicking, and Mustafo has graciously accepted to be our guest speaker."

Mustafo says, "um"

>Mustafo says, "no one told me"

Nyte just nudged Mustafo.

>Jinesse exclaims, "Now!"

You glance at Jinesse.

>You frown.

Jinesse says, "Please keep initial questions contained to lockpicking questions."

>Jinesse grins.

You say, "Tisk, tisk.... I punish you later"

You give Jinesse a good pinch!

Jinesse begins chuckling at Mustafo.

>Jinesse exclaims, "Also!"

>Jinesse says, "This is a mentor event."

>Jinesse says, "We don't have information concerning the guild or anything along those lines that most folks don't have access to."

>Jinesse says, "For those that don't know, we do have a new guru, Aldrek."

Jinesse beams!

Jinesse says, "And as always, the best place to get recent information is from the message tree."

>Jinesse exclaims, "I'd like to introduce Mustafo!"

Jinesse says, "His is a name most of you will have heard I'm sure."

>Jinesse grins.

Mustafo flails his arms about.

Jinesse beams happily at Mustafo!

>Mustafo asks, "um start now? now? with everyone here?"

>Mustafo says, "well ok"

>Mustafo says, "Welcome everyone to the gathering we have here. I hope everyone will find this to be usefull"

>Mustafo says, "What i plan to talk a little about tonight is the picking profession and maybe other areas concerning rogues"

>Mustafo says, "I also want to thank the Mentors for choosing a wee elf such as meself to address those gathered there tonight"

Mustafo says, "A little outline for the evening...Ill be starting on the topic of Picking Etiquette and what all that means to you and me."

>Jinesse smiles at Mustafo.

Mustafo says, "Along this line i will be giving my views and this is my view only, though its shared by others, is about scarabs"

Mustafo says, "There are a lot of different philosophies on scarabs, mine is but one of them but maybe it will clear up some questions you might have."

Mustafo says, "After i make a lot of you mad about the scarab issue <cough> we will jump into the finer points of picking and hopefully by the time i talk about this, ill know the finer points."

Mustafo says, "I have someone whispering them to me as we go."

>Mustafo says, "Once we have finished with the picking issues, ill open the floor up for some general questions and my skirting the issues with the answers."

Mustafo says, "Once all questions have been answered, there will be the chance for everyone here to break into smaller groups if need be and we can take other questions not asked."

>Mustafo says, "Now before we get started, i would like to announce this room is not teef proof. I trust no one brought coins."

>Jinesse says, "Unfortunately, it IS teef proof."

Mustafo says, "er guess it is now aint it"

Jinesse says, "And here I asked everyone to bring silver."

Mustafo says, "So much for getting paid"

>Mustafo says, "I would like to tell all of you what you are up against as far as picking goes to start with. By that i mean the top ends of locks and traps."

>Mustafo says, "To date and to the best of my knowledge, the highest lock manually picked, in teef lingo, is a -1150 by Lord Rayzor who is the best picker in the lands."

>Mustafo says, "The hardest trap there is as of now, in teef lingo, is a -260 and i've heard of plans to make them to -400 one day. Some of you can see there is a long road to go to get a -400."

>Mustafo says, "Course, no one knows if and when traps will really get that hard, im merely giving you an idea of things."

>Mustafo says, "As it is now, the hardest lock you will ever find in my opinion is from the Soul Golem which lives on Teras Isle. There are other locks that for some are harder, but the golem lock is unique."

Mustafo says, "If you dont know what i mean by this, let me just say that stick with picking and one day you will know."

Mustafo says, "There are locks in the rift that can go as high, in teef lingo, up to -1200 from what i hear. Then again i dont know anyone who has picked manually this high."

>Mustafo says, "Picking locks is more than a skill. Its an art that is becoming slowly lost in favor of magic."

Mustafo says, "Im here to tell ya, magiking a box produces none of the thrill that manually picking does. Also it is a lot more dangerous since a lot of rogues forgo the training needed to work boxes."

Mustafo says, "Often they die from it as well as many straight magikers. Traps can kill you and your best defense against that is good disarming skill. Magic will never replace it fully."

>Mustafo says, "There have been rumors of traps getting a lot harder than they are now. Last time this happened many were cought by suprise and paid for it."

>Mustafo says, "Many had stopped when they could get the hardest traps before the last changes.I would adivse anyone to not let this happen to you this time if they do get harder. And i believe they will."

Mustafo says, "As far as training in picking and disarm, i always reccomend at least twice per year in each skill along with perception."

>Mustafo says, "The world of locks tend to go along with a hardness of those who double in training each year. I dont see this ever changing."

Mustafo says, "If you wish to be well known as a great picker, able to get most anything as you get older i would advise tripple training in said skills."

>Mustafo says, "One of the topics that was decided i would discuss tonight is Picking Etiquette. Soon as i figure out what that means ill discuss it."

Mustafo says, "Till then, ill give ya what i think it means and what it should mean."

Mustafo says, "Etiquette goes hand in hand with professionalism. This is a large pet peeve of mine. Today, professionalism is greatly lost and those older know it to be true."

Mustafo says, "Etiquette, defined by many, means mannars, acting properly in a given society. We certianly have a society here though nothing like it was years ago."

>Mustafo asks, "And dont ya hate it when people always try and tell you about the way things used to be?"

>Mustafo says, "Anyway a few examples of what i think is proper as far as picking and pickers in general go."

Mustafo says, "For one, regardless of how cute you might think it is, there has never been and never will be a 'boxie' in the lands. It does not exist."

>Mustafo says, "Along that line there has never been and never will be a set of critters known as 'frosties', 'hillies', 'cavies', 'pookies' , 'archies' and so on."

>Mustafo asks, "Ok Musty, come on now, its slang. Everyone does it now. Get used to it and deal with it. Guess what my good friends?"

Mustafo says, "Everyone does not do it and people should not have to get used to it. For many young people in the lands, the rogues are generally one of the first groups they meet, save empaths of course."

Mustafo says, "Younguns go out and get their first boxes and need to get them opened so its off to the East Tower they go looking for someone to pick their boxes."

Mustafo says, "You younger pickers are often the first real socialization that some see and how they see you act is often the way they turn out."

Mustafo says, "They see you asking for 'boxies' from non existant critters, to them those critters suddenly become existant and it grows from there."

Mustafo says, "It takes more effort to say 'boxie' than it does 'box' dont it? Then again it takes more effort to say 'arch wight' than 'archie' but thats just laziness."

Mustafo says, "Rogues are not lazy. With all the things in the lands rogues can do, we dont have time to be known as lazy and by that i dont mean you have to hunt 24 hours a day but thats another forum."

>Mustafo says, "How you treat your customers is also an issue you should think about from time to time. Put yourself in their shoes and treat them as you wish to be treated."

>Mustafo says, "Young adventurers are not often famaliar with proper tipping ammounts and sometimes give less than you think you deserve. It happens but how you deal with it says a lot about you."

Mustafo asks, "Do you try and steal back what you think you deserve? Do you announce in guild speek that so and so are lousy tippers and not to work for them again?"

Mustafo asks, "Lemme ask ya, you ever think empaths and clerics think the same of you when you go to them for services? Do you tip what they deserved or just enough to slide by for the time being?"

Mustafo asks, "When you go looking for someone to imbedd pick or disarm enchancement in an item for you, do you tip them for their services or a quick 'thanks!' and back to the tower for more 'boxies'?"

Mustafo says, "Regardless of how small a tip is at times just remember, its more than you had before you worked for the customer. All tips, no matter what, should be appreciated."

Mustafo says, "Afterall, we are learning from our work as well as getting paid right? Long as you earn enough for dinner at Helga's, be happy with it. Long as it aint meatloaf night."

Mustafo says, "Another line of etiquette is what do you do with your time when you are waiting for a box to work on and others around you are working for others."

>Mustafo says, "By this i mean you considering that it would be fun to start stealing from the people waiting for an open picker."

>Mustafo asks, "Ah the joy of knowing how to pickpocket and people with coins fresh from a hunt just standing from you an arms length away. Hey! Why not?"

>Mustafo asks, "Ill tell ya why. As you get older and become more known, you think people are gona seek you out to work for them if you are a well known teef? Go to you so you can steal from them?"

Mustafo says, "Dont think i need to answer that do i? Sure we are teefs but the best teef in the lands is one you have never heard of."

Mustafo points at Greyslayer.

Mustafo whistles tunelessly to himself.

Mustafo says, "Other areas to steal in i wont go into. Thats your choice but keep it from picking areas. It will only benefit you more."

You see Greyslayer Ap'Davion the Half-Elf.

He appears to be in his 30's, has shoulder length, wavy black hair, green eyes, and tanned skin.

He is in good shape.

He is wearing some padded black leather boots, some fitted black leather breeks, a matte black kelyn lockpick case, a smoke grey spidersilk satchel, a shadowy black leather tool belt, some crossed black leather back-sheaths, some dark tanned hunting leathers, a smoke grey spidersilk cloak, some soft black leather gloves, a vultite key hanging from a thin vultite chain, a tiny glaes main gauche earring, and an elegant black cavalier hat.

>Mustafo asks, "Now as i pause to think of what to say next, i do trust everyone still has the same ammount of coins with them that they came in with?"

>Mustafo says, "Now before you sit there and roll ya eyes and think to yaself..what in Elanthia can he say about scarabs...im not here to tell you what to do with them."

Mustafo says, "I will, however, point out some things that you may or may not know. You can decide from there but im not here to demand you follow my ways on how to deal with scarabs."

Mustafo says, "These are just some thoughts that maybe you already knew and had forgotten or never knew. Maybe you dont really care, that you are gona do what you wish with them regardless of what i say."

>Mustafo says, "All that is fine actually. What you do with the scarabs you find matters not to me. Im just here to point certain things out you might not know."

Mustafo says, "When we had a picking forum last summer from our previous guru Sayzor, and for those that dont know, we do have a new one...Aldrek...Sayzor said a few words about scarabs."

Mustafo says, "He is the one who created them afterall but he had very clear ideas on the scarabs."

>Mustafo says, "He said that he made the scarabs with the idea in his mind that they would be a reward for the picker, that he intended for the pickers to get them all."

>Mustafo says, "That was the initial intent of them. Mainly to help offset the low tips that some pickers might get, the scarab would help offset that."

Mustafo says, "Wether or not you remember this or was around then, when scarabs first came out, and we disarmed them, they stuck to our hands. They were cursed to us."

Mustafo says, "This was an error. It was not meant to be like that but not one person complained about it other than the picker. Customers didnt care about them then."

>Mustafo says, "It was not till the bugs were changed and they dropped on the floor that the customers started caring and even then not to much. When it was learned scarabs had a value, then the screams started."

Mustafo says, "Ill say that again, once it was seen that the bugs had a value, the customers started screaming. Not when they were stuck to us and we had to go find a cleric to uncurse them."

>Mustafo says, "Finding that the scarabs had a value to them started this whole debate and that we all saw coming."

>Mustafo says, "Now, all of that being said leads me to this. There is but 1 way to get a scarab out of the box and we all know that is from a manual disarm."

Mustafo says, "No wizard of 100 trains can magic the bug out of the box. No sorcerer, no bard, empath, ranger, warrior..none of them can get the bug out of the box less they manually disarm it."

Mustafo says, "If you magic the box or bash it, the bug is lost forever and will not come out no matter how much you beseach the gods for guidance and mercy on it."

>Mustafo says, "Manual disarm is the only absolute way to get the bug to drop to the ground. It is how it is and how it will stay."

>Mustafo says, "A hunter can bring you back 10 boxes from a hunt. All 10 having scarab traps and he will never see one of them unless you as the picker disarms them. Without the manual disarm, scarabs dont exist."

Mustafo says, "Now, the only reason anyone cares about scarabs is because there is a coin value to them. More of an extra shot in the bank account from a box."

>Mustafo says, "A person could bring back a box with 20 coins in it, and otherwise empty but have a scarab in the trap and they say its theirs to keep."

>Mustafo says, "There are a few things you can do when you get a box with a scarab in it to avoid problems after you pick the box and the scarab falls to the floor."

Mustafo says, "You can announce to the customer that there is a scarab and ask if he would be wanting it back after you disarm the box."

Mustafo says, "Side note, questions will come after my rantings and if you whisper to me now, i can not answer"

Mustafo says, "Right then you get an answer and you can decide what to do next. If you feel they deserve the bug, do the box and give the box back to em, point to the scarab and tell em its theirs."

Mustafo says, "You can tell the customer that there is a scarab, that you keep all scarabs, and ask if they wish to continue. They agree then fine. You work the box and keep the scarab."

Mustafo says, "They dont agree, then you can give them back the box and tell them they need to find someone else who can get the box for them, with no hard feelings."

Mustafo says, "You can also just not say a word when you see the bug. Disarm it, give box back and take the scarab after they have left."

>Mustafo asks, "They might ask if it is theirs if they see it fall. How you handle that is up to you. You tell em yep it is, or eh...what scarab?"

Mustafo asks, "Now if its on the floor and they ask, no one says you have to disarm it for them so they can take it do they?"

>Mustafo says, "It is a rule on my porch, one of about 100 rules there, that scarabs belong to the picker there regardless of how someone might

>Mustafo says, "Rumors aside, i never run off any picker there long as they are at least 15 trainings which is the minumum age i require to work there for safety reasons."

>Mustafo says, "There is a common misconception about what it takes to disarm a scarab once its on the ground. In teef lingo, a -80 bug in the box is not a -80 bug on the ground."

Mustafo says, "Once on the ground, they are much harder to manually disarm than in the box, less in teef lingo its a -260 in the box which can happen easily."

>Mustafo says, "Its the general consensus that it takes about 50 ranks in disarm to get the bug on the ground while using disarm enchancement."

>Mustafo says, "Takes about 75 ranks in disarm to get the bug without using disarm enchancement. All of this depends on other factors as well but its a decent guide to go by."

Mustafo says, "I am not here to try and tell you what you have to do with the your scarabs. Im just telling you the history of the scarabs and its origional intent by the rogue guru at the time they were made."

>Mustafo says, "What you do with them is totally your own bidness but i think its overall better for the customer to know what your intent is before you start working for them."

Mustafo says, "For myself, my customers know i keep em as well as other pickers on me porch. East tower its different. You decide what to do and how you will deal with them."

Mustafo says, "There are currently 13 ways to safely handle a scarab. Most people know of a few. I dont know all 13 and no one i know does."

Mustafo says, "Be fun one night for you maybe to get people from each profession and test out your ideas on them and see if they work."

Mustafo says, "Also a good idea to have some of the healing profession there in case some of your ideas dont work."

Mustafo says, "One last area i want to cover before we open for questions is about lockpicks in general."

>Mustafo says, "There are a lot more types of picks in the lands than their used to be and questions about each one of them."

>Mustafo says, "How good is it? Is it better than Alum? You hear it all the time when someone shows ya a new pick."

Mustafo says, "Most times they tell you to get a bard to sing to it so they can tell you the quality of it and then you know if its better than alum."

Mustafo says, "A bard, no matter how good they are, can ever tell you how good a pick performs. Pick performance is different than pick quality."

Mustafo says, "A bard can tell you the time and care that was taken when the pick was made, not how good it will acutally work."

Mustafo says, "Quality does not reflect perfomance. While it is a general guide, a master quality pick can pick worse than a good quality pick."

>Mustafo says, "Its not like that all the time but it can happen. There is but one true method to determine how good a pick actually works."

>Mustafo says, "And thats use it. Here is what i reccomend to do while young, till you are older and have more experience with picks."

Mustafo says, "Sit one night in your favorite picking spot, get out a blank scroll and quill and ink and start picking."

>Mustafo says, "Use whatever pick you like and do 20 or 30 boxes. Write down how hard the lock was ,how long it took to open, how good of an attempt you made on it."

Mustafo says, "Do this one night for a picking session. Next night use alum and do it all over again."

>Mustafo says, "Compare your scrolls and you will be able to determine which pick is better, if there is a difference."

>Mustafo says, "I can tell you this though. You can not buy a pick better than alum anywhere in the lands save possibly a traveling merchant."

>Mustafo says, "And even then, i dont think any of them have ever made a pick better than alum."

Mustafo says, "Ok then, this ends my prepared rantings. We will open the question box for questions about what i have spoken about first, and then for more general questions afterwards."

Mustafo says, "So please feel free to stick around and see what else will be discussed."

>Jinesse says, "Please keep the initial questions picking related."

>Jinesse smiles.

>Jinesse smiles at Faradyn.

Mustafo asks, "how come it doesnt say the Mustafo list?"

>Jinesse just closed the question list.

Faradyn asks, "The question: A double traineed picker can pick his/her own age in boxes, aye?"

Faradyn says, "If they doubled, they can get critters their own age, or is that a myth."

Mustafo says, "In most cases yes Faradyn, that is what all locks in general are based on, the double trainer"

Mustafo says, "there are exceptions, but that is rare"

Mustafo says, "invasion critters come to mind. sometimes their locks even i cant get"

Mustafo says, "course, i dont tell anyone that"

Faradyn says, "There are some non-rogues out there who can see traps on boxes. If they see a scarab and come to you, they're more than likely gonna want it off. (or else they'd pop through it)"

Mustafo says, "if i disarm the box, its mine if i am on my porch. otherwise i leave it"

Brynnah says, "Back when Lord Sayzor gave his talk to rogues, this spring..."

Mustafo nods.

Brynnah says, "He said that--people had not yet gotten the point of what the scarabs were for..."

Mustafo grins.

Mustafo nods.

Brynnah says, "I am giving the most rough of paraphrases..."

Brynnah asks, "Do you have any idea what he meant by that?"

Mustafo says, "good question"

Mustafo says, "scarabs are not just meant to be sold for coins like a common gem"

Brynnah rubs her chin thoughtfully.

Mustafo says, "there are still properties to the scarab that no one has found out yet"

>Mustafo says, "have you ever tried to imbed it? or cast at it? these are just examples"

>Mustafo says, "Tis what Sayzor told me one night anyway"

>Mustafo says, "he never told me what the other properties were"

>Brynnah asks, "Cast Detection at it?"

>Brynnah rubs her chin thoughtfully.

>Mustafo says, "just an idea"

>Egregia says, "Thank ya. Mustafo, ya were sayin' earlier how many disarm ranks it would take t'disarm a scarab on ground, outa boxie... I never have tried t'disarm oen."

Egregia blushes a nice shade of off-pink.

>Mustafo says, "thats all i can tell you about other things on the scarabs, Sayzor never told me everything"

You see Egregia Effluvia the Dark Elf.

She appears to be in her 30's, has long, straight sandy blond hair, green eyes, and dark skin.

She is in good shape.

She is wearing a crystal amulet, a black vultite shield, a crown of Blaeston blossoms, a skillfully carved tart locket, a threadbare grey ribbon, a dark monir shield pin, a gold ring, a tattered grey sash, a jam-spattered tart satchel, a small quilted linen shoulder pouch, a leather purse, a dull black cloak, a heavy black back sheath, a gold bound wight skin sheath, some double leather, and a clear zircon amulet.

>Egregia says, "But question was, are ya sayin' that... n'matter what th'difficulty of th'trap was..."

>Egregia says, "Th'scarabs are usualy prettie same? an' quite hard."

>Mustafo says, "from my experience, a -80 scarab in the box is not a -80 on the ground. they are harder on the ground than they are in the box"

>Mustafo says, "now a -260 bug in the box is not a -260 bug on the ground"

Mustafo says, "there is a range there that the bug is set once it hits the ground"

Egregia nods.

Egregia says, "Thank ya kindly."

>Egregia sits down.

>Mustafo says, "if you do the thinking about it, if it takes 50 ranks with lore ,75 without lore, you would figure out what it is on the ground"

Rapscallion asks, "How does one know the rules for picking on the porch? Are these on a sign there? second part of my question is how can you make rules for an area?"

Mustafo grins.

Mustafo says, "the rules for picking on the porch were set long before it was mine"

>Mustafo says, "Lord Metaboculous, the lands first warrior set the rules and i was never one to argue with him"

>Mustafo says, "since his blade was bigger than me"

>Mustafo says, "the rules are not posted, but most all who spend time there know the rules and can tell you easily"

Rapscallion nods to Mustafo.

Mustafo says, "its a matter of i earned the porch ownership after Meta left, who then left it to Aanalar. Upon his leaving, it was left to me for care"

Mustafo says, "and of course, anyone who wishes ownership can do a request to claim it"

>Mustafo says, "all you gota do is beat me in a brawl, its yours"

Mustafo nods to Allura.

>Allura stands up.

Allura says, "OKies.."

>Allura says, "I was recently informed that pickin' an' disarmin' are affected by armor ya wear."

Allura blushes a nice shade of off-pink.

>Mustafo nods.

Allura says, "Havin' been around fer some time, I was rather alarmed at my lack of knowledge"

Allura mumbles something that you don't quite catch.

>Mustafo smiles.

>Mustafo says, "i can tell ya with almost 100 percent certainy, that aromr has no effect on picking and disarm"

>Allura says, "Could ya elaborate on that fer a rather silly thief."

>Allura smiles sweetly at Mustafo,

You see Lady Allura Slyboots the Half-Elf.

She appears to be in her 70's, has unkempt, long dark brown hair, multihued eyes, and tanned skin.

She has a small lockpick tattoo on her forearm.

She is in good shape.

She is holding a gold-dusted laen broadsword in her right hand and a sea-blue vultite shield bound by silvery imflass and emblazoned with a golden owl perched on an ancient modwir in her left hand.

She is wearing a small Silvergate pin, a myklian scale lockpick case, a flowing blue and silver cloak, a delicate gold dolphin anklet, a silver charm bracelet, some glittering scaled boots, a gold sea horse pin, a sharktooth necklace, a flashy fire-opal love charm, a silver-dusted deep blue silk pack, a skittering spider pin, a small leather toolkit, a vaalin-edged scale lockpick kit, a silvery frost-rimmed sheath, some silver shark fin earrings, a tiny clear glaes spider, a silver-edged emerald cloak pin, a sky blue glaes spider charm, a slightly tarnished brass halo, a sprig of Imaera's Lace, a silver owl charm bracelet, a small rose, a crystal amulet, a dragonsbreath sapphire amulet, a diamond band, a teal blue hauberk, a green-tartan veniom-threaded kilt, and a gold ring.

>Allura asks, "None at all, then?"

Mustafo says, "it would be quite a case if it did, but im sure it doesnt. not yet anyway"

>Mustafo says, "none at all at this time"

Mustafo says, "though you never know what will happen months down the road"

>Allura sits down.

Mysche asks, "hiyas Mustafo, could you talk about soul golem locks a bit?"

You see Lady Mysche Dreamlove the Dark Elf Rogue.

She appears to be in her 90's, has shoulder length, wavy black hair, violet eyes, and pale skin.

She has a coiled serpent tattoo on her neck, and a stalking panther tattoo on her thigh.

She is in good shape.

She is wearing a pair of black opal earrings, some sinister black parchment wings, a gleaming onyx nose ring, a glass amulet, a gold lockpick-shaped locket, a midnight blue velvet gem pouch, a black tower shield emblazoned with the image of a broken white skull on a field of black, some black patent leather boots with sharp rolaren high heels, a two-headed serpent cloak clasp, some delicate black leather thieving gloves fastened with dragonfire emeralds, an assassin's weapon case crafted of the darkest vaalin and etched with shadowy runes of chaos and death, a sinister black spidersilk assassin's cloak embroidered with the image of a lone rogue burying her axe into the head of a charging roa'ter, a jet black eyepatch, a vruul skin locksmith's toolkit bound with a dark spidersilk thread, a ruby amulet, a fiery red opal ring, some reinforced leather-tassed brigandine, and a gold ring.

>Mustafo says, "Soul golems are the most unique lock in all of the lands"

Mustafo says, "they are not normal, far from it"

Mustafo says, "they change"

Mustafo says, "and what i mean by that, when you first attempt a pick, the lock could be a -1000"

Mustafo says, "you get no read, no anything from it"

>Mustafo says, "thinking it might be a bad attempt, you try again and it clicks as a -400"

>Mustafo says, "the lock changes each time you attempt it"

>Mustafo says, "a single trainer will most certainly never get a soul golem box"

Mustafo says, "it is based on the doubler"

Mustafo says, "soul golem boxes are never trapped, though that could change one day"

Mysche grins.

Mustafo says, "and one must use lore to get them, less you are very lucky"

Mysche asks, "is the change random?"

Mustafo says, "they are never trapped and the lock changes each try you make on it"

>Remulos says, "OK my question is.....how do ya feel about chargin other guild brothers and sisters for aidin in lockpickin or disarmin? It galls me to see a brother or sister charged for some simple help. PS This has been a great session but a little restrainin and anyone wantin a drink & talk join me and we'll get some whiskey from Hearthstone."

Remulos pants.

Mustafo asks, "you mean demanding tips from other rogues for your aid in their boxes?"

>Mustafo says, "one should never demand a tip to start with"

You see Remulos De'sante the Giantman.

He appears to be in his 40's, has long, braided silver hair, multihued eyes, and black skin.

He is in good shape.

>Remulos says, "Some people within our organization do"

>Remulos says, "It is unjust"

Mustafo says, "i will admit if i get boxes from younger rogues to work, ill accept a tip from them. not proud"

Remulos shakes his head.

Mustafo says, "but i dont demand it"

>Mustafo says, "if someone demands a tip, tip em. just dont tip them what they want"

>Mustafo says, "there are others who will help you free of charge"

>Mustafo says, "i never demand a tip for a lore spell to someone"

Mustafo says, "almost as bad as those who demand tips for spells"

Lennbeck asks, "Ok, First. You said you keep the scarabs that you disarm, Lets use your example and say someone did come up with 10 boxes with 10 scarabs, do you keep ALL Scarabs?"

Mustafo says, "on my porch, yes"

>Mustafo says, "i pick elsewhere, i dont keep any of them"

Lennbeck nods.

>Mustafo says, "and at times i do pick elsewhere"

>Lennbeck says, "Ok, second. You also said a Single trainer will never get soul golem boxes..."

>You see Lennbeck Starglet the Halfling.

He appears to be in his 40's, has long, straight black hair, multihued eyes, and fair skin.

He is in good shape.

He is wearing a gold ring, a skillfully carved tart locket, some deep black mithril alloy brigandine, a black tanik amulet, a shadowy black stalking cloak, a jam-spattered tart satchel, a crystal amulet, a dusty blue bandana, a dark vultite shield, a black leather weapon sling, some tattered black leather boots, a shadowy black hood, a shadowy black alloy lockpick case, a black diamond studded mithril earcuff, some fingerless leather gloves, and a pair of jeweller's spectacles.

>Mustafo says, "now there are times i dont keep scarabs, but those are for exceptions which are clearly stated on my porch ownership sign"

Lennbeck nods to Mustafo.

Mustafo says, "didnt say never, said will most likely never get them, there are flukes"

Lennbeck asks, "What about one that trains in Traplore, and Disarm enhancement?"

>Lennbeck says, "That's the only type of picker that I see headin outa the trainin building as of late."

Lennbeck says, "a picker that trains Single in LOCKPICK and DISARM, but also trains in Spells."

Mustafo says, "all this refering to soul golem boxes or in general"

Mustafo says, "the single trainer will be able to get boxes. not the majority of his own though"

>Mustafo says, "those who rely on magic to get boxes are limited by their own magic"

>Mustafo says, "magic will never replace skill"

Mustafo says, "least not for boxes"

>Lennbeck nods to Mustafo.

Mustafo says, "lets say a single trainer legend picker"

>Lennbeck says, "I keep getting people tellin me that I'll never make it without spells"

>Mustafo says, "your single legend picker will get boxes up to about 30 trainings, maybe 35"

>Lennbeck says, "Bah is what I tell em"

>Mustafo says, "heh, ive made it without spells"

Mustafo says, "but your single trainer will never pick over his head, baring fluke locks"

Lennbeck nods to Mustafo.

>Mustafo says, "like a legend picking pyro boxes and getting a -5, it happens but thats the fluke"

>Malthax asks, "Here me queston; Is der any need in continuin' perception skill beyond a fair amount? Dat is, once ya gots round 140 trainin in it, shoulds ya keep goin, er is it perty fair ta say dat da skill is enuff trained?"

>Mustafo asks, "remember my saying that traps could go harder than -260?"

>Mustafo says, "i have every confidence they will go much higher"

>Mustafo says, "there will be a time as well that more perception will aid more in pickpocketing"

Mustafo says, "so yes, i would keep training in it, though once at 140 skill, not as often as normal"

>Mustafo says, "1 or 2 trains every 2 years would be fine i think"

>Mustafo nods to Malthax.

>Mustafo smiles.

>Mustafo says, "course, last time preached that traps would go higher than -160, no one listened"

Mustafo grins.

Roget says, "M'lord Mustafo, first let me tank ye for sharing yur wisdom wit us tonight"

>Mustafo smiles at Roget.

>Mustafo says, "thanks"

Roget says, "I has a two-part question"

Mustafo nods to Roget.

>Roget asks, "I am an 11-year-old who triple trains each year. What year will I be able to disarm scarabs?"

>Mustafo says, "thats easy for you to figure, count how you train now and see how long it will take to get to 50 ranks, using lore"

>Roget asks, "second part is, I recently tried one and died, how do ye know when it's disarmed?"

>Mustafo says, "im assuming you mean once they are on the floor"

>Roget nods.

Mustafo says, "you don't know for sure, you have to have faith in your skill. but once you hit the 50 rank mark with lore, 75 without, you soon learn you can get them when you need to"

Roget says, "tank ye m'lord"

Mustafo says, "all that 50 and 75 rank is a guide. its very close to accurate, there are some other small factors involved"

Thuunk asks, "I'm young and break a lot of picks. Edwina doesn't always charge the same price for repairing the same type of pick. Why do I pay more for one alum lockpick repair than for another alum repair?"

>Mustafo says, "there was an error in pick repair a while back that was suppsoed to have been fixed"

Mustafo says, "picks from teras cost more to repair than ones locally"

Mustafo says, "im not a great authority on repair since i never repair them"

Mustafo says, "when they bend or break, i toss em"

>Mustafo says, "but the number of times a pick is repaired might have something to do with it">Mustafo says, "course, Edwina might just be squeezing more money out of Larton when he aint looking, im not sure"

>You see Thuunk LikerRock the Dwarf.

He appears to be in his 40's, has unkempt, long black hair, dark eyes, and tanned skin.

He has old battle scars on his left arm, old battle scars on his right leg, and old battle scars on his right arm.

>Brombal asks, "Tank yaz fer yer time here taday...1) Wha be de possibility o Sancting de established pickin areas? 2)Are Veil Iron picks de best and rarest?"

Mustafo says, "permanent sactifying, i dont see happening. Veil iron, no and no"

>Mustafo says, "ask Miphnik about his picks, they are the rarest"

Brombal says, "Tank yaz"

>Mustafo says, "Veil iron became quite popular a few years ago when we had a pick merhcant in the alleyway in town"

Kalleena says, "Well I guess my question kinda got answered with Thuunks"

Kalleena says, "but"

>Kalleena asks, "is it true that the pick, once broken several times, that it isn't as good and not worth paying the silver for the repair?"

Mustafo says, "a repaired pick is never as good as a new one"

Mustafo says, "stands to reason you break a board and glue it back together, its not as strong as new"

>Mustafo says, "do that 10 times, you see what you have"

Kalleena asks, "so basically a traveling merchant pick to fix is a joke?"

Mustafo says, "the effectiveness of the pick does drop when repaired"

>Mustafo nods to Kallican.

>Mustafo says, "i do not recommend repair"

Chamici says, "G'eve M'Lord Mustafo. Two quick questions if you would."

Mustafo smiles.

>Mustafo says, "sure"

Chamici asks, "Can you manually disarm all types of scarabs once they are grounded?"

>Mustafo says, "me? yes"

>Chamici giggles.

Mustafo says, "or was that for anyone"

Chamici says, "So all can be disarm once one has skill enough."

Mustafo says, "yep, 1 disarm if the skill is there is all that is needed"

Mustafo says, "funny thing if you disarm it 10 or 20 times, but you have to figure that out"

Chamici asks, "OKay, on edigqette. IS it more proper to say the age i.e. 11th year or name of a critter when advertis'in?"

Mustafo says, "if you can name all 11 year critters by name"

Mustafo says, "but i prefer to find a certain critter and say you are open for those and below"

>Chamici asks, "But is name or age better?"

Chamici says, "Ah, thank ya M'Lord."

Mustafo says, "name i think is more professional. not everyone knows all 11 year old critters"

You see Chamici Moussi the Halfling.

She appears to be in her 30's, has long, braided black hair, blue eyes, and fair skin.

She is in good shape.

She is holding an steel lockpick in her right hand.

She is wearing a tin amulet, a crystal amulet, a tin ring, a pink pearl hairpin, a pale pink rose, a pearl-trimmed black silk bodice, a grey silk sheath, a silver-eyed black cat pendant, a wide-brimmed black felt hat, some fitted lizard skin trousers, a tiny black glaes spider, a stunning pair of emerald earrings, some arctic leather, a leather knapsack, and a dark vultite shield.

Oxelween asks, "good evening, high lord mustafo...i got a few questions. the first is, i was informed today that pickpocketing a fellow rogue violates some sort of code...any truth to this?"

Mustafo says, "as far as teefs go, there are few codes"

>Oxelween says, "that what i said"

>Mustafo says, "but as i mentioned earlier, its prefered you do not steal when others are picking"

Mustafo says, "thats what i consider to be a slap in the face to the pickers working"

Oxelween says, "no i mean out in the open"

Mustafo says, "it always comes back to haunt you. "

>Oxelween says, "personally, i don't check profession first"

Oxelween says, "my other question is does this new guru share the same goals as the late, great Sayzor? at the last lockpicking forum he outlined his plans to 'make us sweat" when disarming instead of the now very routine drudgery currently experienced. will the new guru carry the torch? also when will this annoying pickpocketing RT be removed, i think the joke is kinda old now :P (also how come people have stuff with rogue guild stamped on it if there's no guild yet?)"

>Mustafo says, "out in the open, all rogues are fair game"

>Oxelween says, "my other question is does this new guru share the same goals as the late, great Sayzor? at the last lockpicking forum he outlined his plans to 'make us sweat" when disarming instead of the now very routine drudgery currently experienced. will the new guru carry the torch? also when will this annoying pickpocketing RT be removed, i think the joke is kinda old now :P (also how come people have stuff with rogue guild stamped on it if there's no guild yet?)"

Mustafo chuckles.

Mustafo says, "ok let me do this one in parts"

Oxelween chuckles.

Mustafo says, "no, Aldrek is different than Sayzor. the same goals are there, to promte the rogues. how we will get there will be different"

>Oxelween snaps his fingers.

Mustafo says, "the teefing RT wont ever be removed, for obvious reasons"

Mustafo says, "well obvious if you were here when there was no RT"

Oxelween says, "i was"

You see Lord Oxelween Tempestull the Dark Elf Rogue.

He appears to be in his 60's, has long, braided silver hair, dark eyes, and pale skin.

He is in good shape.

He is wearing a gold ring, a colorful pillow hat, a crystal amulet, a black tower shield, a dark spidersilk backpack, a weathered leather tobacco pouch, a dark russet surcoat, a black spidersilk vest, a golden phoenix pin, a golden key cloak clasp, some steel-rimmed spectacles, an enruned dark alloy lockpick earring, some soft dark leather trousers, a pair of soft brown stalking boots, a scorched dark leather belt, a pair of golden phoenix-shaped cufflinks, a carved monir Voln symbol, a pudgy packrat purse, a shimmering black leather cloak emblazoned with the glowing crimson image of a phoenix rising over vanquished hordes of spectral undead, a blinking fisheye ring, a fiery ruby phoenix figurine, a tightly woven spidersilk sack, some supple dark leather gloves, a mithril alloy mesh weapons harness, a skull-shaped black ruby cloakpin, some brigandine armor, and a gold-threaded dark leather satchel.

Mustafo says, "well when you could steal 10 thousand coins in 30 seconds, well you can see why the RT aint going anywhere"

Mustafo asks, "as far as the rogue guild insignea, how do you know its the real insignea?"

Mustafo grins.

Oxelween says, "but if they made it more dependant on skill"

>Mustafo says, "that is a beef of mine, since skill really matters not anymore"

>Oxelween says, "it's kinda bogus when a level 2 rogue can pick a lengend sorc"

>Mustafo says, "and im doing all i can to get that changed"

Mustafo says, "sure it is, and the powers that be know this"

Mustafo says, "but for the reasons of the gods and the way godly things work out, teefing changes were put on hold"

Rucilex asks, "Are the Silver Keyln-tiped Vaalin Picks and the other picks sold at the Spitfire this year accually better quality then Alum with reguard to there Modifier? And when will there be more picks sold the last few Merchants have been Weapon and armor related only.Oh and Any Comment about the Guild Training Facility that is in the warehouse across the bridge?"

>Mustafo says, "ok do this in parts too"

>Mustafo says, "there were no pick sold that have a higher modifer than alum. those picks in question are different than normal picks though"

>Mustafo says, "there will be new picks coming soon, when the new guru has time to work on them"

You see Lord Rucilex Orinber the Elf Rogue.

He appears to be in his 50's, has shoulder length, wavy silver hair, grey eyes, and fair skin.

He has developed slurred speech.

He is wearing a pair of soft doeskin gloves, a heavy backpack, a gleaming eonake tower shield, a crystal amulet, a lockpick case made of the finest black leather stitched with pure gold threads and inlaid with tiny emeralds arranged in the shape of a miniture lockpick, a gold filigree ankle bracelet, a shadowy black hood, an onyx-studded shadowy black hip-satchel, a soft white doeskin satchel, some fitted myklian scale gloves, some large eel skin boots, a key-shaped Lorminstra earring, a storm grey glaes spider charm, an elegantly crafted twisted gold wedding band inset with the finest emeralds intricately designed to form the symbol of Lorminstra, a shadowy black stalking cloak, and a gold ring.

Mustafo says, "how many, if any, will have a higher modifer than alum, i dont think so but never know"

Mustafo says, "as far as quality, that means nothing but a general guide"

Mustafo says, "the guild training facality..."

Mustafo says, "Im not at liberty to discuss anything of that nature at this time."

>Ventero says, "First, how is it a bard can tell more obut picks then rogues can, if a warrior can assess a weapon why cant we assess a pick or at least be able to tell the quality or how much its been used. Would make sense rogues would be thr lockpick experts"

Mustafo says, "rogues are the experts. as i said, a bard can not tell you how good a pick performs. only how it was crafted"

Mustafo says, "bards do not sit and pick for hours with a pick to see how good it work"

>Mustafo says, "bards tell quality, not performance"

Ventero says, "Secondly on etiquette, what is one to do when a fellow rogue be driving off customers by constant pickpocketin"

Mustafo asks, "want my personal view or what would be best?"

>Suddenly you have the strangest feeling that you are being watched.

>Ventero says, "both"

Mustafo says, "personally, drag em out of town and beat em senseless"

Mustafo says, "what is best and this is something im thinking of trying to do here...."

Mustafo says, "is make pickers announce to the customers there that when a known teef comes in, that all picking will be stopped"

Mustafo says, "and frankly i would prefer all picking down out of town and not inside, just for that very reason"

Ventero nods to Mustafo.

>Ventero says, "thankee"

>Mustafo says, "but till then, if you have a known teef, best you can do is tell others there and let them decide"

Mustafo says, "whether they want to say and get robbed, or wait till teef leaves"

>Recin asks, "Which of the 13 ways do you know for disarming scarabs once on the ground?"

Mustafo says, "or have someone who can sleep said teef all night"

Recin says, "sorry if this is a stupid question but i want to find them all"

Mustafo says, "i know of about eh, 6 or 7"

Recin asks, "will you name them?"

>Amerlise says, "I can only think of seven."

Mustafo says, "oh sure make me name em"

>Mustafo asks, "ok, manual disarm, 2 kinds of magic, remove poison and remove curse?"

>Mustafo says, "um i think the clear vials you get from teras work"

>You hear the faint thoughts of Claidh echo in your mind:

Mustafo asks, "how many is that, 10 so far?"

Mustafo says, "um"

Mustafo says, "cleric can uncurse i believe"

>Amerlise says, "I come up with manual, word of disarm (408), dispel, remove curse, neutralize curse, unpoison and undisease."

Mustafo says, "though that doesnt last long"

Mustafo says, "and all the ones Amerlise just said, next"

Mustafo says, "blessing does not work"

Mustafo says, "not a voln bless anyway"

Mustafo says, "and of course, licking em while on the ground, is never favored"

>Mustafo grins.

>Roxanne asks, "I heard a rumor that a number of other spells, besides traplore, help with disarming traps... among them elemental presence and self-control. Would you be able to enlighten us on this subject?"

>Mustafo says, "ugh, magic and picking"

Mustafo says, "ok"

>Mustafo says, "as Sayzor said in his last forum, there are certain spells to aid in disarm and picking"

Mustafo says, "while i dont know the spells, ill try and remember"

>Mustafo says, "as you said, self control helps. how much, Sayzor never said"

>Mustafo says, "it is a hinderance, however ,to be on any type net while disarming and picking"

Mustafo says, "the rest of all spells that would help, i really cant say for certain"

Mustafo says, "aye, voln net included"

Jinesse says, "I've heard calm sometimes."

Mustafo says, "calm aids, yes"

Amerlise says, "Being Calmed helps..having someone cast Light in the room also helps."

Mustafo says, "even voln net yes hurts. tis why ya need a sea shell"

Amerlise says, "Presence only helps with detection of traps...not with the actual disarming."

Mustafo says, "basically any spell that makes you things more clear, like the light mentioned"

>Colpin says, "Two questions please"

Mustafo nods to Colpin.

Colpin asks, "One, I heard a rumor disarming a scarab with a lockpick in yer hand helps. Any truth?"

Mustafo asks, "you mean does it help?"

>Colpin says, "Aye"

>Mustafo says, "no, no truth in that"

Mustafo says, "look at it similar to stealing. you do better when both hands are empty"

>Mustafo says, "but i have had both hands full and still disarm them ok"

Colpin says, "Second, why are the scarabs so hard? I am 11 trainings, and I triple train, and yet the boxes I get tend to trap me when I hunt and pick"

>Mustafo says, "that is part of the mysterious nature of the bug. as i said, Sayzor told me there are properties to the bug still not known"

Mustafo says, "that is one of them"

Mustafo says, "but a -80 scarab in the box is no different disarming than a -80 dark crystal"

Colpin says, "Soes carry an aged pickir in yer back pocket"

Mustafo says, "its once they hit the ground is when they change"

>Mustafo says, "or a magiker to zap em once on the ground"

>Mustafo says, "or learn one of the 13 ways that dont require age or skill"

Mustafo smiles at Colpin.

Sheztalla says, "ok, sorry to keep going back to this...but you say that alum is the best, I've had several black alloy grandmaster lockpicks..."

Sheztalla smiles at Mustafo.

Mustafo nods to Sheztalla.

Sheztalla says, "I seem to be able to get much higher locks when using them"

>Mustafo says, "what im saying about alum is this"

Mustafo says, "alum has a modifer on it that no other pick has"

Sheztalla nods to Mustafo.

Mustafo says, "there are no modifiers higher that you can buy that are more than alum"

Sheztalla rubs her chin thoughtfully.

>Mustafo says, "there are still ice age picks left that are better in modifier than alum"

Sheztalla says, "right, modifiers, but the ultimate end is better with the grandmasters I found"

Mustafo says, "there was a legend pick made years and years ago that had a modifier of 3.0"

>Sheztalla drools.

Mustafo says, "and a lore pick that i believe was 2.6"

Mustafo says, "there are stronger picks than alum, sure"

>Sheztalla says, "but like I said, I picked way higher with the grandmasters"

>Mustafo says, "but when you say you get larger locks with other picks, there are other factors that go into picking that you have to consider"

Sheztalla says, "ahh"

Mustafo asks, "did you try same lock with alum? or have you ever gotten the same lock with alum?"

Mustafo asks, "just maybe took more tries?"

Mustafo says, "i for one have never picked higher with any pick than i have with alum, least that i can recall"

Mustafo says, "now that being said, there are 2 types of grandmasters"

Mustafo just opened a belt pouch.

Sheztalla says, "well, when I was younger I used alum and the black alloy grandmaster, always got higher with the black alloy"

>Mustafo removes a grandmaster's antique lockpick from inside his belt pouch.

>Mustafo says, "ther are the grandmaster whatever, and then the watever grandmaster"

Mustafo says, "2 totally different picks"

>Mustafo put a grandmaster's antique lockpick inside his belt pouch.

Mustafo just closed a belt pouch.

Mustafo says, "all i can tell ya for certain, there are no higher modifier picks you can buy, better than alum"

>Sheztalla says, "thank ye Musty"

Mustafo says, "strenght is a factor, sure, and how that factors, who really knows for sure"

You see Lady Sheztalla Hellburne the Dark Elf Rogue.

She appears to be in her 40's, has long, braided dark brown hair, grey eyes, and tanned skin.

Vulkun asks, "the forum stated that there would be a new scale on picks, is that still going to happen ? second what is the current scale ?"

>Mustafo says, "yes it will still happen"

Mustafo says, "but with the new guru changes, not sure when sactly"

Vulkun nods.

>Mustafo says, "the current scale of them, or what they will be when they come out, i think is still the same as when Sayzor mentioned htem"

Mustafo says, "i have the chart listed on my scrolls if you can find them"

Vulkun nods.

Mustafo says, "i have that whole forum scribed and the chart of new picks is there"

Mustafo says, "when they will come out, Aldrek has to get together with Sayzor and find the status of them"

Vulkun asks, "On scarabs I have been disarming them manually for a long time...why can I without lore and only 56 ranks ?"

Mustafo says, "good wisdom i would think"

Vulkun shakes his head.

>Vulkun says, "it's not that high"

>Vulkun blushes a nice shade of off-pink.

Mustafo says, "there are other factors as i said that go into account for disarming scarabs"

>Vulkun says, "only about 75"

Mustafo says, "its not so much the wisdom but your bonus"

Vulkun says, "I died alot to test this...I was finally able to get them at 42 ranks , don't do that at home kids"

>Mustafo says, "i don't know the exact formula for disarming them on the ground but there are more than 1 factor involved"

Mustafo chuckles.

>Mustafo says, "as I said earlier, the 50 and 75 ranks are a guide. not for everyone but that's overall"

>Alexiv says, "Ello Lord Mustafo"

>Alexiv bows to Mustafo.

Mustafo bows to Alexiv.

Alexiv says, "I had two questions for ye"

You see Alexiv Kai-el the Human Rogue.

He appears to be in his 30's, has short, straight black hair, grey eyes, and pale skin.

He has minor cuts and bruises on his back.

He has old battle scars on his left hand, and old battle scars on his right leg.

He is wearing a dark grey leather tool satchel, some dark leather gloves, a smooth featureless mask, a shadowy black alloy lockpick case, a shadowy black leather tool belt, a enruned dark imflass scabbard, a glaes spider charm, a heavy backpack, a reinforced shield, some double leather, a crystal amulet, a shadowy black stalking cloak, some padded black leather boots, and some red pants.

>Mustafo nods.

Alexiv asks, "One about tips...is there any accepted scale for em?"

>Mustafo says, "personal scale is about it"

>Alexiv says, "having a few magiker relatives, I get asked about it alot.."

>Alexiv nods.

>Mustafo says, "you can live with 100 coins per box, then you will alwas be happy"

Alexiv says, "Second was dealin wit magic and pickin"

Mustafo says, "general rule of thumb is 10 percent of the box"

Alexiv asks, "Is it gettin nessacery to be able to lore yerself or to need lore at all?"

Mustafo says, "ill say this. if it were not for soul golems, i never would have learned spell one"

Alexiv nods.

>Mustafo says, "there are many ways around spells, imbedds, scrolls and what not"

Alexiv asks, "Guess I'll 'ave to burn that bridge when I come to it eh?"

>Mustafo says, "but look at it this way"

Mustafo asks, "do you wish to be working a box, need lore and have to ask for it? taking many seconds or minutes?"

Mustafo says, "then again, you might get it off a scroll, so you stand, find scroll, put box away, get scroll, invoke how many tiems it takes, put scroll away, take box, disarm"

Mustafo says, "and thats if you get it first try"

Mustafo says, "imbedds are good if you have access to them"

>Mustafo says, "spells are not necessary, but they do help. afterall, the faster you get the box back to the customer, the faster you get paid"

Smithy says, "Lord Mustafo, I'm still a relatively young picker, 6th training. I am Tripled up and wondering how I determine what I can pick"

Mustafo says, "best way to learn what you can pick is this"

You see Smithy D'Pick the Dark Elf Rogue.

He appears to be in his 20's, has short, straight light brown hair, brown eyes, and tanned skin.

He is in good shape.

He is wearing a crystal amulet, a large sack, a leather sheath, a reinforced shield, a heavy backpack, some full leather, an elegant turquoise cape, and a shadowy black alloy lockpick case.

Mustafo says, "you are 6, find a 6th year critter and pick em"

Mustafo says, "you will find you can do them with no problem"

>Mustafo says, "then say 7th, do those"

>Mustafo says, "and so on, at 6th year, trippling i would think up to 10th year critters"

>Mustafo says, "testing is the only way"

Mustafo says, "after a while you learn the hardness of critter locks"

>Mustafo says, "you know their max locks and ranges, it gets easier from there"

Smithy says, "I also ran into I believe a scarab one day"

Mustafo says, "but testing on your own is the only way, less you find someone who has posted a scroll of all critter locks so you can see"

Mustafo says, "scarabs appear everywhere far as i know"

>Smithy nods.

Mustafo says, "but it has been a while since i picked kobols and such"

>Amerlise says, "I heard about an incinerator appearing on a cave gnome

>Mustafo nods to Amerlise.

>Amerlise says, "Might mean the difference between seeing the bank teller or a cleric. :)"

Mustafo grins.

Mustafo says, "very true"

Annilyssa says, "first of all let me thank you... this is the first list I've ever been lucky eneough to get my name on "

Mustafo grins.

>Annilyssa says, "i also have a 2 part question"

Mustafo says, "well now ya cant say ya never made a list"

Annilyssa smiles at Mustafo.

>Annilyssa says, " about room order picking. people of different abilities and ages pick in the same areas. If the next person in line has a stone giant box,"

Annilyssa asks, "'that a young rogue can't handle... do they go to the next and next person till they find something that they can pick. in a case like this how is room order fair to the rogues and the customers ?"

>Annilyssa says, "whew"

>Annilyssa giggles.

>Mustafo grins.

>Annilyssa smiles.

Mustafo says, "room order was the way it was done years ago and it never should have changed"

Mustafo says, "i guess the best way to do it, since full blown room order will prolly never be seen again..."

Mustafo says, "is to just walk in and ask if there is anyone there who can get your critter box"

>Mustafo says, "and get in that line"

>Mustafo says, "there are times sure when what you said happens and usually when the next picker who can get it frees up they do it"

Annilyssa says, "but then it's not a true room order"

>Mustafo says, "least thats how it should be"

Mustafo asks, "room order is when people walk in and form 1 line right?"

>Annilyssa asks, "ok and second... what is this porch you keep talking about and where is it located?"

Annilyssa nods to Mustafo.

Annilyssa says, "one line for many pickers"

>Mustafo says, "hearthstone manor porch"

>Mustafo smiles.

Annilyssa smiles at Mustafo.

Annilyssa says, "aaahhh"

Annilyssa blushes a nice shade of off-pink.

You see Annilyssa Longienstiew the Half-Elf Rogue.

She appears to be in her 40's, has long, braided red hair, grey eyes, and lily white skin.

She is in good shape.

She is wearing a baguette diamond bracelet, a diamond and silver ankle bracelet, a gold diamond-cut bangle, a pair of diamond-studded bracers, a tiny diamond stud earring, an oilskin weapon sling, a gleaming onyx nose ring, a jewelled engagement ring, a blackened laje lockpick case, a winged mithril alloy warhelm, a silver-tooled diamond necklace, some fringed doeskin gloves, a glittering diamond-dusted satchel, a pair of diamond-studded thighguards, a diamond and sea horse pin, a prancing pegasus pin, a delicate gold heart-link belt, a gold pegasus cloak clasp, some elegant diamond-buckled boots, a diamond Lorminstra necklace, some grey wolfskin trousers, a red jasper amulet, a sparkling diamond-dusted sack, an enruned diamond-clasped backpack, some enruned diamond-dusted leathers, a leather baldric, a dark purple cape emblazoned across the back with the image of a craggy mountain peak, and a gold ring.

Mustafo says, "then when you walk in, you ask if the picker there can get your box. if he cant, move upstairs"

Mustafo says, "most times with room order now...."

Annilyssa says, "when there is one line for many pickers of different ages how does it work that is..."

>Mustafo says, "you have 5 pickers working and 1 line, sometime a line for each picker"

Annilyssa says, "i could have explained myself better"

Annilyssa nods to Mustafo.

>Mustafo grins.

Mustafo says, "thats something that will never be definitely defined I espouse now a days"

>Annilyssa says, "and then each picker keeps a list of their own

>Mustafo says, "all you can do is find who is waiting, what they have, and point them to the right place"

Annilyssa nods to Mustafo.

Annilyssa nods to Mustafo.

Mustafo says, "thats just the nature of pickers these days"

>Mustafo says, "there is no clear cut answer without making a lot of people mad"

>Annilyssa says, "that makes sense... got chewed out for announcing that i could handle this and that"

Annilyssa smiles at Mustafo.

Annilyssa says, "thank you for your time M'Lord"

>Mustafo asks, "well those who chew you out for working for them, are not worth working for, no?"

>Jinesse says, "Okay, I'm going to go ahead and open the floor now. If we can keep it to a gentle roar, we'll keep the general Q&A without the hush."

Mustafo says, "people soon learn if you can do their boxes and what not, the will wait for you"

*** Jinesse is allowing everyone to speak now. ***
