“INKLINGS” game : The Theft of the Red Diamond

A collection of rare gems was being kept in a secret room in the manor. Several of the mentors were assisting in the surreptitious transport of the collection from the manor to the museum and each of them was given one or two treasure containers to carry. There was, however, a special gem -- a very rare and valuable Red Diamond, which contains powers beyond comprehension. Some time during the night the secret room where the Red Diamond was being kept was broken into and the gem was stolen. When the sun rose in the morning the mentors went to the secret room to get the gems and transport them to the museum. When they arrived they discovered that the room containing the collection had been broken into. Gasp! There, lying on the floor unconscious was the guard of the secret room. Beside him were splinters of the door that concealed the secret room and protected the sack containing the Red Diamond. Among the splinters was found a weapon, obviously the one used to break down the door; and lying next to the weapon was a pin from one of our fine Elanthian houses to which the Suspect most likely belonged to, at the time. The constable was called in; the evidence carefully picked up from the floor and put into an evidence bag. The guard, having been majiked to sleep, awoke unharmed but remembered nothing of the break in. The constable used his legal magic to seal the evidence bag so it could not to be tampered with and took it with him. He told the mentors that he had many pressing matters to take care of and suggested that they find some help to investigate the matter. He went on to say that after discovering who was the Culprit he could be found at the jail with the evidence bag. Then he handed the Complainant some Legal Parchments and Poof! the Constable was gone.

THE RULES

This game is similar to a popular game that many of us are familiar with.  There are 4 different types of weapons, 4 gems and 4 pins from the Elanthian houses in sacks that are exactly the same.

The mentors will carry either one or two sacks and will be considered Suspects while the one holding the Red Diamond represents the "Culprit."  The Suspects will be carrying the sacks and will be running from the law around town.

So, by Order of the Mayor, several people will be chosen to help discover who has the Red Diamond, and which weapon and pin the constable has in his evidence bag.  In other words, you have to discover which items are missing from the sacks that you inspect.

Those doing the investigation and will be considered Inspectors and will be issued a Warrant giving them authority to stop and question Suspects.  Your job, as an Investigator, is to find the Suspects who are walking around town, stop them by presenting the Warrant, and demand that they show you one of their sacks.

The Suspects will acknowledge the Warrant in whatever manner suits them.  After acknowledgement of the Warrant, the Inspectors will request/demand the Suspects to show them one of their sacks, either the one in their right hand or the one in their left hand keeping in mind that the Suspects may SWITCH the sacks from time to time.

An example would be:  “Sistermarie, I am an Inspector.”  <SHOW WARRANT>;  “Show me the sack in your left hand.”

You must find the Suspect carrying the Red Diamond and also figure out which weapon is missing and which pin is missing.  The missing pin and weapon are the ones that were found near the guard and are in the evidence bag with the constable.

Inspectors will not be able search both containers being held by the same Suspect without leaving the room.  In other words, Inspectors can’t show the Warrant to the Suspect and search both containers if the Suspect is carrying two.

At any time the Suspects may SWAP containers.

By finding who has the Red Diamond and figuring out which pin and weapon are missing, Inspectors should be able to make an accusation.

Once you have an inkling of who, with what, and which house, return to the jail and inform the host Mentor of your findings.  The Culprit will be arrested and appropriately dealt with.

Be most sure that you aren't making a false arrest, or there will be punishment for thee.  Possibly even public humiliation.
