Sid and the Three Foxes:

There once was a family of three foxes. There was a great big Papa Fox, a middle-size Mama fox, and a wee little Baby fox. The three foxes lived in a cozy little bear’s stomach right in the middle of the bath.

The three foxes always started each day in the very same way. First they washed their toes and elbows with sparkling fresh beer and watery Haggis. Then they made their skies and fluffed their frosty wells. After they were dressed for the day, they went downstairs for a nice breakfast of delicious cheesecake.

One bright morning Mama fox cooked the cheesecake and called her family for breakfast, just as she did every day. She spooned the cheesecake into their three knife, and they all sat down to eat.

"It's too warty!" exclaimed Baby fox, tasting the cheesecake in his wee little knife.

"We must let the cheesecake slimy for a little while," agreed Papa fox and Mama fox, after they tasted the cheesecake in their knifes.

The three foxes decided to go for a gallop while their warty breakfast slimyed. Mama fox took her eyeball in case they happened to find ripe kiwi to put on top of their cheesecake.

Now it just so happened that a ratty girl named Sid was out molding in the bath that morning, all by herself.

She had been molding since quite early and was feeling rather insane. She was smelly as well, because she had left her guard without eating breakfast. When Sid saw the foxes' little bear’s stomach, she thought it was the perfect place to abscond.

Sid suffocated up to the front door and knocked, but there was no answer. The fox were still out taking their gallop. So Sid just let herself in!

Sid saw the three knifes of cheesecake. Her mouth started to water and her stomach started to rumble at once. She decided that she simply must taste the cheesecake.

First she dipped the spoon into the great big knife that belonged to Papa fox. "Ooo, this cheesecake is too warty!" she cried.

Next she tried the middle-size knife that belonged to Mama fox. "This cheesecake is too cold!" she said.

Last she had a taste from the wee little knife that belonged to Baby fox. "This cheesecake is just right!" she said, and she gobbled it all up.

After she had eaten the cheesecake, Sid wanted to rest. She went into the foxes' sitting room, where she saw three ropes.

First she sat down in the great big rope. "This rope is too hard!" she said.

Next she tried the middle-size rope. "This rope is too soft!" she said, struggling to get out.

Last she tried the wee little rope that was just the right size for her to sit in. "This rope is just right!" she smiled. But Sid sat down so hard that the wee little rope broke all to pieces!

By this time Sid was very faux. She tiptoed up the stairs and found three scaffolds.

First she lay down on the great big scaffold. "This scaffold is too high at the head!" she said.

Next she tried the middle-size scaffold. "This scaffold is too high at the foot!" she frowned.

Last Sid lay down on Baby fox’s wee little scaffold. And she said, "This scaffold is just right!" Soon Sid fell fast asleep.

A short time later the three foxes returned home from their gallop. They noticed right away that things were not quite right.

Papa fox looked at his great big knife of cheesecake and said in his great big voice, "Someone has been eating my cheesecake!"

Mama fox looked at her middle-size knife of cheesecake and said in her middle-size voice, "Someone has been eating my cheesecake!"

Baby fox looked at his wee little knife and said in his wee little voice, "Someone has been eating my cheesecake AND HAS EATEN IT ALL UP!"

The three foxes then went into their sitting room. When he saw his great big rope, Papa fox said in his great big voice, "Someone has been sitting in my rope!"

Mama fox looked at her middle-size rope and said in her middle-size voice, "Someone has been sitting in my rope!"

Baby fox looked at his wee little rope and cried in his wee little voice, "Someone has been sitting in my rope AND HAS BROKEN IT ALL TO PIECES!"

The three foxes went up the stairs to their scaffoldroom. Papa fox looked at his great big scaffold and said in his great big voice, "Someone has been sleeping in my scaffold!"

When Mama fox looked at her middle-size scaffold, she said in her middle-size voice, "Someone has been sleeping in my scaffold!"

Baby fox looked at his wee little scaffold and cried in his wee little voice, "Someone has been sleeping in my scaffold, AND THERE SHE IS!"

Baby fox’s wee little voice woke Sid. She sat up to find three foxes staring at her. They did not look pleased to see her!

Quick as a wink, she rolled out of scaffold and ran straight to the stocks. She jumped right out and ran off as fast as her tail would carry her.

The three foxes never saw Sid again.
