[Council House, Assembly Room]

The high ceiling is coffer-paneled in oak, polished to such a high gleam that it reflects back light from any source.  Grey-green tapestries hang from brass poles set at intervals along the white walls.  Floor standing candleholders bear thick, yellowed candles that gleam softly, casting a golden glow over the room.   A bright light shines down upon the podium at the front of the room.

Also here: GameMaster Quantum, and the citizens of Athens.

Obvious exits: out.

>

Quantum says, "Since now I'm the only one who can talk."

>

Eryx asks, "You are?"

>

Eryx peers quizzically at Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "Yep."

>

A vortex of deepest black forms about Eryx.  In the whirling column you can see faces flash by, grinning with maniacal glee as they suck the energy from him.  Finally, Eryx crumples, his form lifeless and limp.

Eryx just fell dead at your feet!

A cloud of golden sparks suddenly appears in the air, forming the outline of a male Centaur before resolving into Eryx himself.

>

Quantum says, "The only live GM present is the only one who can talk."

You hear the ghostly voice of Eryx ask, "what dead ones can't talk?"

>

Quantum chuckles.

>

Quantum says, "Right now the state of the warrior profession is good, it just doesn't show."

>

Quantum asks, "I know,  contradictory aren't I?"

>

Quantum says, "From a behind the scenes standpoint, a lot of projects are much closer to where I want them to be."

>

Quantum says, "But obviously I'm still spending a lot of my time fixing combat."

>

Quantum says, "Balancing/bonding are still in a downgraded mode."

>

Quantum says, "Those will be first up for repairs once a few more combat features are done."

>

Quantum says, "Obviously the very high damages of new combat meant that balancing as it used to be was no longer nececssary."

>

Quantum says, "Not in it's old form anyway."

>

Quantum says, "I know Nommo, the evil mastermind behind bandages, has a few things up his sleeve also."

>

Quantum says, "But sadly, he couldn't be here tonite."

>

Quantum takes the lid off the question box.  Use ASK to submit a question.

>

Quantum says, "Okay, ask away at the magic question box."

>

Quantum points at the question box.

>

Mathuna looks the box over.

>

Mathuna says, "that one isn't magic Quantum."

>

Quantum says, "Hrmph."

>

Quantum says, "Obviously Mathuna doesn't know the rule about which GM's are allowed to talk."

>

Quantum snickers.

>

Quantum closes the question box.

>

Quantum says, "Okay, box closed."

>

Quantum says, "I like to take the questions in small batches, so people can change their minds on their questions based on what I've said."

>

Quantum says, "The box WILL be re-opening in a bit."

>

Quantum says, "Heagens asks, 'so balencing dosnt help?'"

>

Quantum nods to Heagens, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Heagens blushes a bright red color.

>

Quantum says, "Balancing does help, just not very much."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Quantum says, "You still get the bonus to-hit from a well balanced weapon."

>

Heagens asks, "more damage?"

>

Quantum says, "Only by a very tiny margin."

>

Heagens nods.

>

Heagens says, "thank you"

>

Quantum says, "I'm contemplating other ways to give reasonable bonuses to balancecd weapons in the future."

>

Quantum says, "Possibly a small criticality bonus."

>

Quantum says, "Hasn't been 100% decided."

>

Quantum says, "And I don't like to announce things before they are fully approved, so I don't have to eat my words later."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Heagens says, "a well balenced weapon should do more damage though"

>

Quantum says, "Indeed, and a small damage bonus is a possiblity."

>

Quantum says, "A criticality bonus would work out to a damage bonus in practical terms also."

>

Quantum says, "I suspect I will do something with balanced/bonded weapons being easier to repair also."

>

Quantum says, "But we don't have weapon damage/breakage ready yet, so that's not an immediate concern."

>

Heagens says, "whew"

>

Quantum grins at Heagens.

>

Quantum says, "All right, let's move on to the next question."

>

Quantum says, "Thanks Heagens."

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Heagens sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Zanzibar asks, 'I have one'"

>

Quantum blinks.

>

Quantum nods to Zanzibar, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Zanzibar says, "actually, more than one, but I'll try to restrain myself"

>

Quantum says, "I have one too."

>

Quantum nods to Zanzibar.

>

Zanzibar says, "how is max damage affected by weapon skill..if at all.  And, if not, how does it come into play..my blade skill is god-like, but that doesn't seem to translate into god-like damage"

>

Quantum says, "It's more damage than someone with less level could do."

>

Quantum says, "Err, less skill level I meant to say."

>

Quantum says, "So skill modifies damage upward."

>

Zanzibar says, "ok..then"

>

Quantum says, "Which is, in general terms, why higher level players do more damage."

>

Quantum leans on Zanzibar.

>

Zanzibar says, "the amount of damage is the spread between my roll and the critters tht...why don't I always get max damage with a roll of 100 on a tht of 2"

>

Quantum says, "Because the math is way more complicated than that."

>

Quantum chuckles.

>

Zanzibar chuckles.

>

Quantum says, "that's more of a combat question than a warrior question."

>

Quantum says, "But I'll give a quick answer."

>

Zanzibar says, "thanks"

>

Quantum says, "The amouunt you exceed the tht threshold on your roll is a factor into the criticality calcuations."

>

Quantum says, "But there are other inputs."

>

Quantum says, "Including a purely random one."

>

Quantum says, "some skill based things."

>

Quantum says, "etc."

>

Quantum says, "so in general, higher rolls are bigger hits."

>

Quantum says, "But not always."

>

Quantum says, "And there's the short answer."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Zanzibar says, "one last question...I know bonding is fluid at the moment, but will warriors be able to bond with more than one weapon"

>

Quantum says, "No."

>

Zanzibar nods.

>

Zanzibar says, "thanks"

>

Quantum bows.

>

Zanzibar says, "as alway"

>

Quantum says, "No problems, thanks Zanz."

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Zanzibar sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Blackcloud asks, 'how long till we see Adrenals?'"

>

Quantum nods to Blackcloud, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Quantum eyes up Blackcloud.

>

Blackcloud tilts his head toward Quantum.

>

Quantum asks, "What's this we-business priest?"

>

Quantum winks at Blackcloud.

>

Blackcloud chuckles.

>

Blackcloud says, "meaning athens as a whole"

>

Quantum says, "Adrenals are another of the projects that has made some good strides forward recently."

>

Quantum says, "I'm stalling on it until reallocation, because I'm petitioning to have adrenal skill changed a little."

>

Quantum says, "No guarantees if that will work out."

>

Blackcloud nods.

>

Blackcloud says, "ok"

>

Quantum says, "But if reallocation changes the amountn of adrenal skill people have, it would re-adjusting the whole darn thing."

>

Quantum says, "So I'm trying to hold off.  The last things I said about adrenals probably still apply."

>

Blackcloud nods.

>

Quantum says, "First two abilities will be a berserker rage, and a self-healing ability."

>

Quantum says, "I figure with new combat, the self-healing will be popular."

>

Blackcloud says, "yup"

>

Quantum says, "And I should add that it won't be warrior only."

>

Quantum says, "It will be warrior-biased, merely because I believe warriors get the best deal on adrenal skill."

>

Blackcloud nods.

>

Blackcloud asks, "are they going to have half the roundtime on it like the other current warrior biased skills that we have now?"

>

Quantum says, "No."

>

Blackcloud nods.

>

Quantum says, "The only reason I said it would be warrior biased is because I expect warriors to have more adrenal skill."

>

Quantum says, "the adrenal system itself will be entirely skill dependant."

>

Blackcloud says, "ok, Thanks"

>

Quantum nods to Blackcloud.

>

Quantum asks, "That answer your question?"

>

Quantum grins.

>

Blackcloud says, "yp"

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Blackcloud sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Fujikaza asks, 'Will Combos be reintroduced? And what about Brawling weapons?.'"

>

Quantum nods to Fujikaza, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Quantum says, "Yes"

>

Quantum says, "And Yes."

>

Fujikaza says, "Exellent, I thought of another question..."

>

Quantum says, "Combos are achingly close to done, but I just found another bug in the darn things about 2 hours ago."

>

Quantum coughs.

>

Quantum says, "So they aren't quite there yet."

>

Quantum asks, "Sure, what's on your mind?"

>l

Quantum peers quizzically at Fujikaza.

>

Fujikaza asks, "Is there a Bonding alternative planned for those of us who primarliy use Brawling?"

>

Quantum says, "Bond yer brawling weapon."

>

Fujikaza nods.

>

You hear the ghostly voice of Eryx say, "Bond your fist or foot"

>

Quantum picks up a cestus.

>

Quantum blinks at a cestus.

>

Fujikaza says, "Now that I know I plan to."

>

Quantum tosses aside his cestus.

>

Fujikaza removes his hard leather cesti.

>

Fujikaza peers closely at a pair of hard leather cesti.

>

Fujikaza puts a pair of hard leather cesti on his hands.

>

Fujikaza says, "I am happy now."

>

Quantum chuckles.

>

Quantum says, "Those probably aren't brawling weapons."

>

Fujikaza says, "Nope, just clothes."

>

Quantum says, "Since I haven't released the brawling weapons yet."

>

Quantum says, "Nor have I decided on all of the brawling weapons."

>

Quantum says, "But we'll have the expected range."

>

Fujikaza says, "I like the idea."

>

Quantum says, "I'm planning mostly hand-worn hand-carried things at first, for simplicities sake."

>

Quantum says, "We'll get into steel-tipped boots and spikes on the armor later."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Fujikaza asks, "Like Claws and such?"

>

Quantum says, "Sure."

>

Quantum says, "We have GM's who have excellent knowledge of Greek culture and history."

>

Quantum says, "They will probably suggest some historically accurate names for me."

>

Quantum says, "I admit to being weak in that area myself, I'm mostly a programmer at heart."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Fujikaza says, "Very nice... I am a very happy Martial artist now."

>

You hear the ghostly voice of Eryx say, "Now, now you know us GMs have no hearts.."

>

Quantum says, "Nommo did a bang-up job designing brawling."

>

Quantum says, "really poured his heart and soul into it."

>

Fujikaza says, "I agree, but as much as I would like to talk at length I will not take up the forum's time."

>

Quantum says, "Wait till you get some high skill, some of the moves are great."

>

Quantum grins at Fujikaza.

>

Quantum nods.

>

Fujikaza says, "I anticipate them."

>

Quantum says, "Good point, we'll go onto the next question."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Fujikaza nods.

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Fujikaza sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Oh oops."

>

Quantum takes the lid off the question box.  Use ASK to submit a question.

>

Quantum says, "I ran out."

>

Quantum closes the question box.

>

Quantum says, "That was quick, way to go people."

>

Quantum says, "Good macros."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Quantum says, "Epoclaen asks, 'There has been talk that a warrior's combat moves should be related to priest spells, teller songs, and alchemist traps - meaning that they should have some warrior-unique moves in combat perhaps.  Is this going to mirror your thinking even though it's a bit profession specific or is this going to go against your plans for warriors?  In fact, what kind of warrior unique skills/tools do you have plans or ideas for that will help make warriors stand out?'"

>

Quantum nods to Epoclaen, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Quantum asks, "huh?"

>

Quantum says, "Not quite sure where you  were heading with that."

>

Epoclaen says, "You'll recall that warriors have always not been given many tools to enhance their hunting because they were considered the masters of combat"

>

Quantum says, "Oh yeah."

>

Quantum says, "I know that argument."

>

Epoclaen says, "Give them somthing as neat and effective as traps and they'd be over powered"

>

Epoclaen says, "I wondered if they'd be getting any such neato things that would help make them special or unique"

>

Quantum says, "There is an effort with new combat to make sure that everything stays on an even keel."

>

Epoclaen says, "You somewhat answered this with brawling weapons and adrenals.  Right."

>

Epoclaen nods to Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "Generally, the same range of abilities should be available to most everyone."

>

Quantum says, "Some way to knock down creatures, possibly some way to immobilize them for short periods of time."

>

Quantum says, "And of course some way to do a reasonable amount of damage."

>

Quantum asks, "Anyone warriors here hunt with alchemist friends?"

>

Epoclaen grins at Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "People who have been watching might notice that the damage caps for alchemy stuff are AWFUL similar to the damage caps for weapon stuff."

>

Quantum whistles skillfully to himself.

>

Epoclaen says, "I'm sure there are warriors who use the tools of other professions"

>

Quantum says, "To some extent, sure."

>

Quantum nods to Epoclaen.

>

Epoclaen nods to Quantum.

>

Epoclaen says, "I just feel that to better define a warrior, they need some warrior-like tools.  Hopefully brawling weapons and adrenals will accomplish that"

>

Quantum says, "Well, neither of those are warrior specific."

>

Quantum says, "But then, as you pointed out some warriors use tools from other professions too."

>

Quantum says, "some cross pollination is always to be expected."

>

Epoclaen nods.

>

Epoclaen asks, "So nothing strictly warrior only in planning?"

>

Quantum says, "That's why things like damage caps were put in place, so that we could prevent any 30-level-overhunting one-shot-killing combat monsters."

>

Quantum says, "Of any profession."

>

Quantum says, "No, nothing warrior specific is in planning."

>

Epoclaen nods to Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "Which isn't rare or new."

>

Quantum says, "Most of the stuff Revel does isn't rogue specific."

>

Quantum says, "Anyone can use, just nobody but rogues has the skill."

>

Quantum says, "And that's just an example, I'm not picking on any profession here."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Quantum says, "I imagine, on a pure skill basis, adrenals and brawling are slanted towards warriors."

>

Quantum says, "They have the cheapest training costs."

>

Quantum says, "So probably you'll only see warriors using them heavily."

>

Epoclaen nods to Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "But they aren't limited to warriors."

>

Epoclaen says, "Good enough.  thanks"

>

Epoclaen smiles at Quantum.

Quantum nods.

>

Quantum says, "Let's move along."

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Epoclaen sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Zanzibar asks, 'yeah'"

>

Quantum squints.

>

Quantum says, "Zanzibar is skipped cause there are other people pending who haven't asked a question yet."

>

Quantum says, "Nothin personal."

>

Quantum grins at Zanzibar.

>

Quantum says, "Destrution asks, 'Was My Idea Concerning Being Able To Bandage Others Considered'"

>

Quantum nods to Destrution, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Destrution smiles.

>

Quantum says, "Indeed it was."

>

Destrution nods.

>

Quantum says, "And I still don't have a final answer on that one."

>

Destrution nods.

>

Destrution asks, "When Might You?"

>

Quantum says, "There are some tricky issues there."

>

Quantum asks, "Like who would get the RT,  The bandager, the bandagee, both?"

>

Destrution nods.

>

Quantum asks, "Could it be abused to give other people RT at bad moments?"

>

Destrution asks, "And Based On Skill Of The Bandager?"

>

Quantum says, "I'd hate to see bandaging snerts at the gate."

>

Destrution nods.

>

Quantum says, "In the end,  the final decision there will rest with GM Nommo."

>

Destrution says, "I Understand That But We As Warriors Straight Hunt All The Time"

>

Quantum says, "Who invented bandaging."

>

Destrution nods.

>

Quantum says, "I myself like the idea if the issues can be ironed out."

>

Quantum says, "So I'll recommend it to him."

>

Destrution says, "Would Be Nice To Get Some Without Havign Too"

>

Destrution beams!

>

Destrution nods.

>

Destrution says, "Thats All"

>

Quantum grins.

>

Quantum says, "Okay, we'll go to the next question."

>

Quantum says, "Thanks Destrution"

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Destrution sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Klawen asks, 'are there any planed changes to socra items?'"

>

Quantum says, "That question is off topic."

>

Quantum says, "Since this is a warrior forum."

>

Quantum says, "So I'm skipping that one, nothing personal Klawen."

>

Quantum takes the lid off the question box.  Use ASK to submit a question.

>

Quantum says, "Wow, good ASK speed."

>

Quantum says, "You folks must have some macros."

>

Quantum says, "Got room for one more if anyone has a question."

>

Quantum says, "I'll leave this open while I field the next question."

>

Quantum says, "Palus asks, 'What exactley will bonding do to a weapon when they are fixed, and also, the question I ask every chance I get, about how long will it be until reallocation, and will all these "Speacial and unique" things for each profession that makes them each even be done by then?'"

>

Quantum nods to Palus, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Palus nods.

>

Quantum says, "I'll address the part about weapon bonding,  the rest is wandering off-topic a bit for this forum."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Palus looks at Quantum and sighs.

>

Palus grins.

>

Palus nods to Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "The answer is, still undecided."

>

Quantum says, "I'm sure I want a repair bonus in there."

>

Palus nods.

>

Quantum says, "I'm also thinking a criticality bonus of some reasonable amount."

>

Quantum says, "Which translates to a damage bonus."

>

Palus says, "Sounds good."

>

Palus nods to Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "Someone, I don't recall whom, had also suggested that a bonded weapon could have a reduced penalty when used in a two-weapon scenario."

>

Quantum says, "Which is an outside possiblity."

>

Quantum says, "I haven't ruled it out yet anyway."

>

Palus says, "Mmk"

>

Palus smiles at Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "When I do have some concrete information on that, I'll post it on the warrior board."

>

Palus nods to Quantum.

>

Quantum asks, "Did I answer that completely enough Palus?"

>

Quantum grins.

>

Palus says, "The first half .....mmmhmmm"

>

Palus nods to Quantum.

>

Palus grins.

>

Quantum says, "Okie Dokie."

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Palus sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Isobal asks, 'question About weapon metals and what type of damage bonus is coming into play with those since currently there seems to be little to none? Or is to be only bonuses on metals in orders of repair?'"

>

Quantum nods to Isobal, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Isobal smiles.

>

Quantum says, "That's still a tad off topic."

>

Quantum says, "But close enough that I can see it being a source of warrior interest."

>

Isobal says, "Good to hear."

>

Quantum says, "Weapons made of superior metals do better damage."

>

Quantum says, "How much is dependant on the specific weapon."

>

Quantum says, "And the specific metal."

>

Quantum says, "And a few other factors I can't discuss."

>

Quantum says, "The bonus damage isn't huge, and if you are already consistently hitting your damage caps for your level without an expensive steel weapon, then you probably don't need an expensive steel weapon."

>

Quantum says, "Until we introduce weapon breakage and you want a sturdier weapon."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Isobal says, "So basically if I have trained correctly beside breakage better metal is useless"

>

Quantum says, "Depends on the weapon."

>

Isobal asks, "Example?"

>

Quantum says, "Even at peak training, you probably aren't hitting your damage cap every time with a one-hander."

>

Isobal says, "Close to it."

>

Quantum says, "Unless it's a heavy one hander like a morning star or longsword."

>

Quantum says, "If you hit caps often, you can hit them more often with a better metal weapon."

>

Quantum says, "But if you are hitting your damage caps often enough that you don't care, then by all means save yourself some dinar."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Isobal says, "Thank you."

>

Isobal says, "I know what to sell now."

>

Isobal gets a silly grin on her face.

>

Quantum grins at Isobal.

>

Quantum says, "Good luck finding a buyer."

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Isobal sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Zanzibar asks, 'me?'"

>

Quantum says, "Yep, you"

>

Quantum nods to Zanzibar, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Zanzibar says, "first, a personal comment..this warrior doesn't use or need stuff from other professions...and I think warriors are already well defined.  Further, Quantum/Nommo and anyone else who has worked on this has been/is doing a great job"

>

Zanzibar asks, "Epoclean's question touched on this, but how much control will we have over skills...now, under the current God-worship system, we can only add to what we get naturally and I would rather have total control..that going to happen?"

>

Quantum says, "oooo, flattery will get you everywhere."

>

Zanzibar laughs!

>

Quantum says, "I'm not at libery to discuss the details of reallocation."

>

Zanzibar chuckles.

>

Zanzibar snaps his fingers.

>

Zanzibar nods.

>

Zanzibar says, "next"

>

Quantum says, "I could tell you, but Mathuna and Astraea would drag me out into the street and beat me."

>

Quantum says, "And leave me for dead."

>

Quantum sighs.

>

Zanzibar says, "kill'em"

>

Zanzibar chuckles.

>

Zanzibar carefully cleans his no-dachi of any traces of blood with a soft cloth, then smoothly slides it carefully into his mesh weapon harness.

>

Zanzibar says, "done"

>

Zanzibar says, "thanks"

>

Quantum nods to Zanzibar.

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Zanzibar sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Llorien asks, 'Balancing?'"

>

Quantum nods to Llorien, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Llorien waves at Quantum.

>

Quantum waves at Llorien.

>

Quantum says, "Balancing/bonding is my first priority for repair."

>

Quantum says, "I do need to finish some combat stuff like combos and grapples first."

>

Llorien says, "Okay. Sounds good."

>

Quantum exclaims, "I had no idea when I agreed to write the main combat engine that they would actually want me to maintain it too!"

>

Quantum exclaims, "The slave-drivers!"

>

Quantum sighs.

>

Quantum winks at Llorien.

>

Llorien grins.

>

Quantum says, "I can't go back to doing damage bonuses with balancing/bonding."

>

Quantum says, "So as I've said before, I'm toying with different ideas for bonuses to balanceed/bonded weapons."

>

Quantum says, "Perhaps a criticality bonus, maybe a reduction in the two-weapon penalty."

>

Llorien nods.

>

Quantum says, "I suspect the bonus to hit will remain."

>

Quantum says, "It's small, but nice in a pinch."

>

Llorien asks, "Are slashes working right now on bonded?"

>

Quantum says, "Nope."

>

Quantum says, "And they won't be coming back in their old form."

>

Llorien nods to Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "Since that would lead to one shot kills in new combat."

>

Quantum says, "I could add a slash move to combat."

>

Quantum says, "That you could only do with a bonded weapon."

>

Quantum says, "Or some bonded-weapon specific moves."

>

Llorien says, "That'd be fun."

>

Llorien smiles.

>

Quantum says, "But I don't want to get too heavy into giving warriors any hard profession related advantages."

>

Quantum says, "Perhaps just slightly upgraded versions of existing moves."

>

Quantum says, "With unique messaging, for the prestige."

>

Quantum grins at Llorien.

>

Llorien grins.

>

Llorien tilts her thumbs up.

>

Llorien chuckles.

>

Quantum asks, "Anything else I can shed light on for ya Llorien?"

>

Llorien says, "Not at the moment."

>

Quantum says, "All righty. next question then."

>

Llorien says, "Thank you."

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Llorien sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Heagens asks, 'since armor plays a big part to a warrior will the armor allocation be adujusted?'"

>

Quantum nods to Heagens, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Quantum says, "Not sure exactly what you mean Heagens."

>

Quantum says, "oh, just an FYI for the audience, the box is empty again."

>

Quantum peers quizzically at Heagens.

>

Quantum asks, "Heagens, you still with us?"

>

Heagens asks, "well armor is used more by a warrior than a rogue do they get a bonus for using it instead of being encumbered?"

>

Quantum exclaims, "Aha, you are!"

>

Eryx dissolves in a shower of golden sparks as he heads off.

>

Quantum says, "Wasn't sure if the lag had gotten you or not."

>

Quantum says, "There is no profession specific bonuses for armor usage."

>

Quantum says, "It is based purely on the athletics skill."

>

Quantum says, "It's an either/or decision when training, you can decide you like dodge, or armor."

>

Quantum says, "If you like armor, you train athletics."

>

Quantum says, "There *is* a possiblity of things like special lightened armor being sold in the future at auctions and so forth."

>

Quantum says, "So athletics/armor is the more expensive route, but could end up being just a tad better."

>

Quantum says, "don't worry about it being way better, since there are caps to defense just like everything else."

>

Quantum grins at Heagens.

>

Heagens asks, "but isnt armor a large part og being a warrior in battlee?"

>

Quantum says, "Not necessarily."

>

Quantum says, "Some warriors really like it."

>

Quantum says, "But some prefer to be fast and nimble."

>

Quantum taps a massive suit of blood red platemail.

>

Quantum says, "I think you can see what I like."

>

Quantum chuckles.

>

Heagens asks, "but if I grapple am I not more into my armor?"

>

Quantum says, "But I'm not going to force anyone down that path."

>

Heagens says, "if I was a warrior"

>

Quantum says, "I would imagine grappling or wrestling with someone would be harder in heavy armor."

>

Quantum says, "Can't say I've ever tried in real life."

>

Heagens says, "good point but a hit wouldnt hurt so much either"

>

Quantum says, "If we had a fully realistic system then yet,  there should be some of tracking of avoidance chances for dodging and damage reduction for armor."

>

Quantum says, "But we don't have a fully realistic combat system."

>

Quantum says, "And I ought to know."

>

Heagens chuckles.

>

Quantum says, "In some cases, some things were deliberately left unrealistic to make it easier on players and preserve their options."

>

Quantum says, "Dodging and armor is one of those cases."

>

Quantum says, "While not realistic, having dodge and armor be interchangeable doesn't force anyone to wear armor."

>

Heagens says, "cant have both I understand"

>

Quantum nods to Heagens.

>

Heagens says, "thank you"

>

Quantum says, "Sure, no problem"

>

Heagens bows to Quantum.

>

Quantum bows to Heagens.

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Heagens sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Sunder asks, 'care to recap adrenals?'"

>

Quantum nods to Sunder, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Quantum says, "Shore enough."

>

Quantum says, "It's been about 70% done for 5 months."

>

Quantum says, "So I'm actually a tad rusty on what I did do."

>

Quantum scratches his head.

>

Quantum says, "The basis is thus."

>

Quantum says, "You have an amount of adrenal points that is based on your adrenal skill."

>

Quantum says, "These points replenish in much the same manner as hit points or fatigue."

>

Quantum says, "Slowly over time."

>

Quantum says, "When needed, these points can be called upon to fuel one of several adrenal abilities."

>

Quantum says, "There are 2 planned for initial release of adrenals."

>

Quantum says, "Wich the option to add more adrenal abilities later."

>

Quantum says, "err, with not wich."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Quantum says, "First two abilities planned are a berserker rage."

>

Quantum says, "And a healing ability."

>

Quantum says, "The healing ability would be instantaneous, and use up most if not all of the adrenal points."

>

Quantum says, "Can't have players just tapping their heal macro every few seconds and ignoring damage."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Sunder asks, "and what will berserker rage do?"

>

Quantum says, "About what you'd expect, with maybe a few twists."

>

Quantum says, "Massive boosts to offense,  massive drops to defense."

>

Quantum says, "It's quite likely that a raging player will die."

>

Quantum says, "Probably after smearing the closest 10 monsters or so."

>

Sunder asks, "since we have a damage cap, will the rage increase the cap?"

>

Quantum says, "No."

>

Quantum says, "But it will drop RT's and possibly THT's."

>

Quantum says, "So that big connects come often."

>

Quantum says, "The twist part is what I was proud of in the programming."

>

Quantum says, "When raging, you aren't fully in control of your own actions."

>

Quantum says, "So sometimes you will see yourself doing things that you didn't type in the command for."

>

Quantum says, "For example, if you try to retreat while raging, you will find yourself leaping back into combat . . ."

>

Quantum says, "If you try and stand there in defensive stance and not swing,  you will eventually swing even if you didn't want to . . ."

>

Quantum says, "etc."

>

Quantum says, "Fairly reasonable things for a berserker rage."

>

Sunder nods.

>

Sunder asks, "will the cost for training in adrenals be looked at?"

>

Quantum says, "Yes,  as I said earlier that's why I'm holding off on adrenals."

>

Quantum says, "I've made some suggestions for alterations to skill progression/costs for reallocation."

>

Quantum says, "And I'd like to see those in place before I release adrenals."

>

Quantum says, "Frankly, I don't like the current skill progressions very much."

>

Quantum says, "In terms of a few warrior skills."

>

Quantum says, "So I was planning my usual trick, pouting and having temper tantrums until I get my way."

>

Quantum winks.

>

Quantum says, "I am, as always, open to suggestions or feedback on anything I've discussed so far, either in terms of more questions or on the warrior boards."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Quantum asks, "Anything else I can explain for you Sunder?"

>

Quantum says, "Or possibly clarify since I went over that fairly fast."

>

Sunder asks, "no news on smithing?"

>

Quantum says, "None."

>

Sunder says, "nod"

Quantum says, "That is one of the skill on my aforementioned list."

>

Quantum says, "Where I wanted to see some changes in cost/progression."

>

Quantum says, "So I have had some thoughts for the future."

>

Quantum says, "But nothing definite yet."

>

Sunder says, "that's all then"

>

Quantum nods to Sunder.

>

Quantum says, "Thanks Sunder."

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Sunder sits back down.

>

Quantum says, "Fujikaza asks, 'Are there going to be moves planned for each Brawling skill or are they going to focus on one skill in preparation for reallocation?'"

>

Quantum nods to Fujikaza, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Quantum says, "I'm glad you asked that, there' an important point I want to make here."

>

Quantum says, "That I probably haven't been clear enough about up until now."

>

Fujikaza nods.

>

Quantum says, "Punching is the ONLY active brawling skill."

>

Quantum says, "The others do nothing, at all."

>

Quantum says, "All brawling moves are based on punching skill, even if they are kicks, grapples, etc."

>

Fujikaza says, "I see."

>

Quantum says, "When reallocation comes, the other skills will be removed and punching will be renamed to something more generic."

>

Quantum says, "Like "brawling" skill possibly."

>

Fujikaza says, "Sounds good."

>

Quantum says, "There are some pretty special moves available to all of the different types of attacks."

>

Quantum says, "And the different types of attacks will still matter when brawling weapons come into play."

>

Fujikaza says, "Nice..."

>

Quantum says, "You'll want to use a hand worn brawling weapon for punching attacks, etc."

>

Fujikaza nods.

>

Quantum says, "I'm not sure how much you've experimented with the different damage types, but higher level brawling moves do have the capability to do more than just bashing damage."

>

Quantum says, "Which is what most brawling moves do."

>

Quantum says, "That can be an advantage in some scenarios."

>

Fujikaza says, "With only two moves it is kinda hard but, eventually I will be able to."

>

Quantum says, "Yeah, hang in there."

>

Quantum says, "With training, more moves will come."

>

Quantum grins at Fujikaza.

>

Fujikaza says, "I remembered another one."

>

Quantum says, "Sure, shoot."

>

Quantum says, "We don't have a huge question backlog."

>

Fujikaza asks, "Any chance of giants and centaurs getting special brawling moves?"

>

Quantum says, "hmmmm"

>

Quantum says, "Yes, quite a good one."

>

Quantum says, "Nommo is the one who writes 99% of the brawling moves."

>

Quantum says, "And sadly he couldn't be here tonite."

>

Quantum says, "Ack, lag."

>

Quantum says, "Sorry, about that."

>>

Quantum says, "He actually wanted to have those done already, in terms of several race specific moves."

>

Quantum says, "But I wouldn't let him."

>

Quantum says, "Because I wanted a full set of basic brawling moves working before we did the special stuff."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Fujikaza grins.

>

Quantum asks, "Anything else I can explain for you Fujikaza?"

>

Fujikaza says, "Choke slams & grabbing enemies by the leg, bashing them into others *giggles*"

Fujikaza exclaims, "I can't wait!"

>

Fujikaza says, "I'm good."

>

Quantum leaps in front of a mermel and engages it in combat!

>

Quantum says, "Her Fujikaza."

>

Quantum says, "err,"

>

Quantum says, "Hey Fujikaza."

>

A mermel screams in horror!

>

Quantum says, "Advance on me real quick."

>

Fujikaza asks, "Hmm?"

Fujikaza begins advancing on Quantum.

>

Fujikaza advances to melee range to the right of Quantum.

>

Quantum picks up Fujikaza and swings Fujikaza through the air at a mermel.

[To-hit:2  Roll(1d100):26]

   ...Fujikaza pulverizes into the mermel!

...The mermel takes 660 points of damage.

The mermel falls to the ground and dies.

>

Fujikaza blinks.

>

Quantum asks, "That sort of thing?"

>

Fujikaza nods.

Quantum says, "I have some things in development . . ."

>

Fujikaza asks, "Any foreshadowing?"

>

Quantum puts his pinky finger to the corner of his mouth and laughs maniacally.

>

A mermel decays into compost.

Quantum says, "Nope."

>

Quantum says, "Other than the working design title for one move is "alchemist bowling""

>

Quantum coughs.

>

Quantum says, "But I'm sure we'll change that."

>

Fujikaza says, "Fellow warriors with Quantum Evil at the helm, our enemies shall die in squishy death."

>

Fujikaza giggles.

>

Quantum grins.

>

Fujikaza says, "I'm done now."

Quantum says, "Okay, let's move on to the next question."

>

Quantum says, "Thank Fujikaza"

>

Quantum does several artful backflips and disengages from combat!

>

Fujikaza says, "No problem."

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Fujikaza sits back down.

Quantum says, "Leanna asks, 'Are warriors ever going to be anything other then glorified hunters? '"

>

Quantum nods to Leanna, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Leanna says, "Zanzibar commented that we, as warriors,  are well-defined..but I don't feel we are. We do what every other profession does...and have no real identity of our own. If we are merely hunters, then why are we called warriors? I guess what I mean is...Are warriors ever going to have a viable skill -other- then combat and new ways to learn? "

>

Quantum says, "I'm not opposed to non combat ways to learn, or out of combat skills for warrior."

>

Quantum says, "Smithing in particular I definitely want to see some day."

>

Leanna nods.

>

Quantum says, "In general, the focus of most warrior things is combat."

>

Quantum says, "And I suspect over time that's where a lot of my effort will go."

>

Quantum says, "But not all, and not exclusively."

>

Leanna says, "I can see that...but can't there be other 'combat' then hunting? What I mean is... perhaps training in the Arena. "

>

Leanna says, "Or something that warriors can benefit from.. still fighting, but not having to go out and kill animals."

>

Quantum says, "I'm not sure how I'd do something like that."

>

Quantum scratches his head.

>

Leanna says, "Perhaps not...but there was a great deal of trouble figuring out how new combat would be done.. and it was."

>

Leanna grins at Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "As a general rule, I can't give out too much experience from a system unless it involves danger or cost."

>

Quantum says, "And is hard to script."

>

Quantum says, "So that does limit me."

>

Leanna says, "The problem is...unless we are obssessed with hunting..warriors are nothing. And I've never felt that warriors are merely hunters."

>

Quantum says, "Generally combat is the answer to those above criteria."

>

Quantum says, "I can definitely see your point in terms of wanting some non combat recognition and skills."

>

Leanna nods to Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "I would encourage you to come up with your best suggestions and put them on the warrior board."

>

Quantum says, "Thbat goes for everyone present actually."

>

Quantum says, "Grab your best ideas and put them on the warrior board."

>

Quantum says, "I do read that one quite often."

>>

Leanna says, "Nope. Thank you."

>

Leanna smiles.

>Having finished addressing the assembly Leanna sits back down.

>Quantum says, "Goldenmane asks, 'What do you envision will be the major developments in the warrior profession in the next six months to a year? Are there any special things you can tell us to look forward to?'"

>

Quantum nods to Goldenmane, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Quantum says, "Lesse, nothing major."

>

Quantum says, "I need to repair what I've got before I strike out in bold new directions."

>

Quantum says, "I envision in the six month time frame a repair of balance/bonding."

>

Quantum says, "Also adrenals."

>

Quantum says, "And I can't speak for Nommo, I know he has plans."

>

Goldenmane asks, "But what would you like to see? What is your picture of a warrior?"

>

Quantum grins at Goldenmane.

Quantum says, "And that's a fun question I often debate with other GM's."

>

Quantum says, "In terms of definitions, warrior is the weakest definition of any of the classes."

>

Quantum says, "The others, to a large extent, define a players profession or professional training."

>

Quantum says, "But warrior is so horribly vague."

>

Quantum asks, "Could be a druid thing, maybe more of a paladin, or just a good old fashion barbarian?"

>

Quantum says, "My end answer is to try and accomodate all of those to some degree."

>

Quantum says, "And let individual warriors have a choice in how to play out their own character."

>

Quantum says, "You can see some barbarian influence in some of my ideas, like the berserker rage."

>

Goldenmane says, "Perhaps you might ask the warriors to try to define themselves. What they see themselves as. That might help you in the development."

>

Quantum says, "I tried that, hmmm, probably 2 forums ago."

Quantum says, "Asked everyone their best thoughts on the matter."

>

Quantum says, "Everyone was just as confused as me."

>

Quantum grins.

Quantum says, "But if anyone has some fresh new ideas, please post them on the warrior board."

>

Quantum says, "It's an old debate, and one I never get tired of."

Goldenmane says, "I would think that those who are not happy with what they are should make an attempt to say what they want to be."

>

Goldenmane smiles at Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "Sure, I'm always willing to listen to suggestions."

>

Quantum says, "On the flip side of that, I also don't want to try to make extravagant promises in order to retain people in this profession if they would be happier in another."

>

Quantum says, "I want to see all HX players happy in their profession."

>

Quantum says, "Whichever of them it turns out to be."

>

Goldenmane says, "I am just a silly priest. I was asking these questions for my husband. Thank you."

>

Quantum says, "For the moment, with all the cleaning-up I have to do of broken things, I wouldn't expect to see much progress on this in the next 6 months."

>

Quantum says, "But it's certainly a long term possibility to try and define warrior better."

>

Quantum asks, "Anything else I can explain Goldenmane?"

>

Goldenmane says, "Thank you. That is more than I expected."

>

Goldenmane curtsies to Quantum.

>

Quantum bows to Goldenmane.

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Goldenmane sits back down.

Quantum closes the question box.

>

Quantum says, "Gerett asks, 'Having seen brawling, two handed and one handed weapons in action, I was wondering if it would be worthwhile at all to use one handers, instead of the other two.'"

>

Quantum nods to Quantum, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Quantum blinks.

Quantum nods to Gerett, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Gerett twiddles his thumbs.

>

Quantum says, "Man, I whacked the wrong macros there."

>

Quantum grins at Gerett.

>

Gerett chuckles.

>

Quantum says, "Sure, one handers are a good choice in two situations."

>

Quantum says, "One, you want to use double attacks."

>

Quantum says, "In that case two light weapons are great."

>

Quantum says, "Secondly, you want to use use weapon/shield."

>

Quantum says, "shields are real nice in new combat, and so the one-hander/shield combo is a nice one."

>

Gerett furrows his brow.

>

Quantum says, "If yer doing that, go for a heavier one handed weapon."

>

Gerett asks, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't someone hold two shields while kicking?"

>

Quantum says, "Sure, but second shield doesn't count."

>

Gerett asks, "or double attack with both feet?"

>

Gerett says, "Or both hands."

>

Quantum says, "You could one one shield and perform a limited subset of the brawling moves."

>

Quantum says, "But a lot of the brawling moves check to make sure your hands are free."

>

Gerett says, "I could have a shield and double attack."

>

Gerett nods to Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "with the double kick, sure."

>

Quantum nods to Gerett.

>

Quantum exclaims, "Ifn that makes you happy, feel free!"

>

Quantum grins at Gerett.

>

Gerett says, "Which at my level would be just shy of 1000 damage. If it hit."

>

Gerett shrugs.

>

Gerett says, "I guess I just dont see how one handers have much of a future."

>

Quantum says, "The reason that I like one-hander/shield personally is you have the full range of weapon moves."

>

Quantum says, "Also, for someone trying to go the armor route for defense, a good shield is almost necessary."

Quantum says, "At least in the upper levels."

>

Quantum says, "In order to use all that armor that your athletics skill would allow."

>

Quantum says, "I realize that until reallocation we won't actually have anyone trained that way."

>

Gerett furrows his brow.

>

Quantum says, "It is a paradigm shift from our combat system."

>

Quantum says, "Where a long sword was the be-all end-all of weapons."

>

Gerett says, "But some of us didn't have them because of that."

>

>

Quantum says, "In new combat, different hunting styles have different pros and cons, but all should be applicable in some scenario."

>

Gerett asks, "i dont suppose you will be able to have some examples or something tonight on brawling, one handed and two handed weapons in combat?"

>

Quantum says, "I'm almost out of my allotted two-hour time frame, so probably not."

>

Gerett nods.

>

Quantum says, "If there's enough interest, I could schedule a demonstration for another time."

>

Gerett says, "Alright, well unfortunately I think you did answer my question."

>

Quantum nods.

>

Quantum says, "Thanks Gerett."

>

Having finished addressing the assembly Gerett sits back down.

Quantum says, "Llorien asks, 'Just wondering if there were any plans about 'guarding' other players from melee?'"

>

Quantum nods to Llorien, who stands up to address the assembly.

>

Llorien says, "Not warrior specific, I know, but it's just something I always wished we had, to protect folks who like to use ranged things."

>

Llorien says, "Since as a warrior, we can take a licking and keep on ticking as they say."

>

Quantum says, "Right now we don't have anything like that lined up."

>

Quantum grins at Llorien.

>

Quantum says, "It is a possibility."

>

Llorien grins.

>

Quantum says, "One of the pending pieces of combat that needs an overhaul is the acrobatics."

>

Quantum says, "More things to do with acrobatics skills."

>

Quantum says, "Bring back things like leap attack, etc."

>

Quantum says, "An "intervene" more or somesuch where you attempt to keep a friend from being engaged is possible."

>

Llorien says, "Leap save is similar, but that's tumbling. Guard could be for everyone, young also."

>

Quantum says, "Based on appropriate skill checks of course."

>

Llorien smiles at Quantum.

>

Llorien snaps to attention and hails Quantum with a crisp hand salute.

>

Llorien exclaims, "Thanks!"

>

Quantum says, "Flesh that suggestion out a bit and slap it on the warrior board."

>

Llorien nods to Quantum.

>

Quantum says, "I'll throw it at the other GM's and see if it sticks."

>

Quantum grins.

>

Quantum bows to Llorien.

>

Quantum says, "Thanks Llorien."

Having finished addressing the assembly Llorien sits back down.

** Quantum opens the floor back up for general discussion. **

Quantum says, "And that concludes our forum tonite."
