London Sights
Friday was our last day in London. I hated to think of leaving. But, first things first. I still had souvenirs and gifts I wanted to get. Paul and David went off to St. Paul's (Paul and I had seen it yesterday, but David wanted to see it as well) and then to St. Mary's. It's said that to be a true Cockney you have to be born within the sound of the bells of St. Mary's.

I went to Sloane Square to do some shopping. First I was in search of an antique mall, hoping that I might be lucky enough to find a reamer. I found the mall, but no reamers anywhere. They had jewelry, china, and suchlike. But, that wasn't the end of the world. The Sloane Square area has a lot of nice stores. Looking down the streets revealed charming residential neighborhoods. I popped into various stores, and finally ended up in a department store whose housewares department did have reamers. I bought a couple of English reamers to take home. I also bought some jewelry that appealed to me.

I went back to the hotel to meet up with Paul and David, and we went off to lunch. We headed back to Picadilly and tracked down a Pizza Hut where Paul could take advantage of a salad bar.

This was our last chance to pose for pictures with Eros.

Then we went to Trafalgar Square and saw Nelson's Column. Then to Hyde Park/Green Park where we wandered a bit. And found ourselves back at Buckingham Palace. We stopped to check a map and figure out how to get to Kensington Gardens.

By the time we got back to Kensington Gardens, the fog was rolling in. We saw the statue of Prince Albert, but didn't have a chance to see Peter Pan or Kensington Palace.

We went back to the hotel to relax a bit, then went back to our favorite pub, the Rat and Parrot, for a final meal and drink in London.

Since Paul and David had an early flight, they spent the night at the airport. I'm not sure they still looked this nice when they got on their plane.

Paul and David gathered up their belongings and took off. My flight was later the next day. Unfortunately, the flight back wasn't in business class, but it was uneventful and I was soon back in Los Angeles.

When can I go back?
