Bahlobo y los Gringos:
"South of the Border"
(Copper Canyon, Mexico) 13 - 22 April 2007

CASCADA DE BASASEACHI (BASASEACHI FALLS): No trip to the Copper Canyon area would be complete without visiting Basaseachi Falls -- even if the locals can't decide whether it's spelled Basaseachi or Basaseachic. From Creel to the falls and back is pretty much a full day's ride, about 50/50 pavement and dirt.

The falls as seen from an overlook on the far side of the canyon.

The pool at the base of the falls.

They haven't had much rain in the area, so
the flow was somewhat less than dramatic.

Danny (being careful not to drop any money from here).

After viewing the falls from the overlook, we rode around to the falls' side of the canyon and
hiked to the top of the falls. You can also hike to the base of the falls, but none of us wanted to do
the hike back to the top in all our motorcycle gear. This is me on the hike (about a kilometer).

From this vantage point, you can see that the falls
actually pass under an arch before...

...plunging over the brink.

An attempt to capture the waterfalls' rainbow on film....

...see it?

As you might expect, the view from up there was magnificent.

Danny.

Another shot of the arch.
