Morganae is the Queen of the Mountain Elves. To understand her and her people, one must understand where they come from and how she came to power. Many thousands of years ago, a group of Wind Elves were captured by the Dwarves of Rendstone. Many were slaughtered, the rest were enslaved. For hundreds of years, these Elves lived as slaves to the Rendstone Dwarves. Then Morganae led an uprising, and all the Dwarves still remaining were killed. Morganae killed the king of those Dwarves herself, and proclaimed herself the Queen of the Mountains.

The Mountain Elves are the most politically involved group of Elves. They attempted to form an alliance with the Forest Elves, by wedding the Mountain's Prince Rivyn with the Forest's Princess Sorril. The wedding went awry, however, and eventually led into the large scale War of Tears, more commonly called the Elven- Human War. With Rivyn's death, Morganae became saddened and withdrew from the conflict.

It was Queen Morganae that constructed the city of Shard, with the Elothean Ferdahl, Corik, and Morganae also built the gondola that crossed the Obsidian Pass. Sidhlot murdered Morganae's daughter, Princess Anlorahle, while she was using the gondola, and enraged, Morganae closed down the gondola for one hundred years.
