Taramaine is the Guildmaster Prime of the Moon Mage Guild. Meaning, he leads the High Council, and commands each of the Guildmasters. He is descended from Jaras Braun, the first Guildmaster Prime of the Guild, the man who also formed the Moon Mage Guild. When Penelope the lich was killed, Taramaine paid his respects to her at her memorial in Ankis Dir. He is not to be underestimated, however. He is a master of politics.
When Councillor Erzebet began her investigation of Andraethu and Penelope in the Crossing, Grandmaster Taramaine arrived soon after with a small army of Y'Shai. During this visit, an attempt was made on his life by Andraethu, claiming to be for the honor of Grell. Grandmaster Taramaine survived, and left the city soon after, raising an investigation of Grell and Guildmistress Gylwyn of Shard.
