The Dream World

by Aslana Rivonogen

(Crossing, Zoluren: Skullcleaver 362)

Going about his normal duties, Baresh took a moment to glance up and noitce a familiar form darkened his doorway yet once again. "Greetings to ye Aslana, what will ye have?" This was said even before she could sit upon the seat.

"I will only have water this day. I come to ye with a sad and heavy heart, I need my wits about me now. Have ye ever heard anyone speak of what I like to call the "Dream World"? It tis the place we go when we go to sleep here in the realms."

Baresh looked her with a bit of a question in his eyes.

"Well, some call it "the far off land", Aslana paused for a moment and took a slow sip of her water. "I feel I am the only one here in the realms that can keep the two seperate", this was said with a heavy sigh.

"I met someone", the Prydaen smiled slightly. "I really liked him alot, and I hoped he liked me. Things went wonderfully for a while, until I told him of my dream world that is. I spoke to him about the events that happen in my other world, and now, knowing these things, he doesn't want to be with me anymore." A tear slowly rolled from her hazel eyes.

Baresh looked at Aslana with a bit of concern, it was plain to see the light of her being was shrouded by this sadness.

"Maybe, just maybe I should nae speak of this dream world anymore. But I suppose this will only cause other problems later on. Seems to be a lose lose situation for me anymore." Aslana covered her eyes with her hands and wept for a moment.

She slowly took a drink from her glass, and looked up at Baresh. "Tell me good barkeep, am I the only one who does not let the two worlds blend together? What difference does what happens in my dream world make here in the lands? They are two different places after all. I suppose someday I will find one like me, another who knows the difference between the two worlds."

Aslana wiped her tears, and began to place her coin on the bar, "This one is one me M'Lady," Baresh said quietly. She smiled the best smile she could, stood from her seat and quietly left.
