Rahmus's eulogy by Rahmus (Crossing, Zoluren: Dolefaren 363)Today, we have gathered to mourn the loss of one of our kin, Lythianna. It saddens me greatly to be the person performing this eulogy, but I accept it as both a duty, as well as a privilege, to tell the tale of this wonderful woman... and thus, keep her alive in our hearts. The story of her youth is a simple one, really. She was not the first healer in her family. She came from a family of them, all very talented in their art. However, she did not always want that fate, instead choosing to join Lady Grisgonda as an apprentice in her shop. Eventually, though, she got the call, as do we all- and, drawn to the Empath's Guild, entered as a Novice in our ranks. I met her shortly after that. Her entire personality was endearing to both myself, and a great many others. She was naive, yet full of knowledge. She was a tad weary from all of her journeys, but yet, so full of life. She lacked the wisdom of a long life, but made up for it with a burning desire to learn, and achieve. I fell in love, almost instantly. In almost forty years of life, never did I feel such a strong attachment to someone. Her eyes were lit up with joy, never showing a hint of sadness, Her entire personality a bundle of happiness, which she showered upon everyone, making them happy in turn. It was that entire portrait of beauty that made me begin to court her, and eventually, I intended to ask her hand in marriage- however, my hopes and dreams were cut short, as were hers, by nature's rebellion against those who would wish to conquer it. For you see, even the greatest of Rangers cannot hope to conquer all of nature- let along a seventeen-year-old Empath, lacking all the experiences of years of life as a Ranger. But that naivete, and that burning ambition were two of the reasons that I loved her so much. Let us learn a few lessons from the events that have transpired. Always know when the risks are too great, and when they are worth taking. Always know to grasp onto your hopes, and your dreams, and never let them go. And let us always follow the Rangers, the conquerors of nature, and never stand alone against our risks, and against that which would take away our hopes and dreams. With this, I release some of the pain in my soul. May you all feel the same release, and may your tears be quick to pass. But may your heart never forget, and cherish, the young spirit which all of us should endeavor to possess- all which made Lythianna so dear to my heart. |
