Submitted: 28 May 1999 Thief Guild? by Ranmadar (Crossing, Zoluren: Nissa 357)I think people are trying to get too much from what I said, I'm not speaking as adventurerers, I'm speaking from the masses. Remember, even though we are the only ones who speak to each other for the most part, in a role, we are the minority. There are tons of farmers, nobles, shop keepers, and other such people, they are whom I speak of mostly, I dont mean unknown, and I believe I did clarify this, but perhaps not enough. To see it as a guild is fine, and that quote that was posted was true, but, also, if you have 5 people who know about a secret vault, and a million more whom have no idea there is a vault, then, for the most part, it is unknown. Thief guild items I personaly saw as a mistke, shadowy crests and such would fit much better, the main idea is to not blurt it out, keep it secret, as its supposed to be. I knew a thug(term as descriptive not title), Flawliss was his name, who would NEVER EVER say anything that had to do with theft around a town guard or a room that implied guards, town officals, or paladins. I was impressed, and, though just my opinion, the way to do it. I am a Paladin, I don't have to worry of such, but it's always harder to role play when what seems, to me, one of the easier things to role play is ignored. to me its the same as telling the end of a puzzle, just as bad, because in my opinion the thief guild can be the most interesting role play there is.
Baresh will listen to your well-presented viewpoint on this, too.
