Submitted: 22 July 2000 No Kind Thank You to a Generous Cleric? by Rosanlind (The Provinces: 5 Akroeg 362)A young Human woman walks into the bar and stops for a moment to shake the dust off of her cloak. She draws back the hood and smiles at Baresh. "One of your finest Elven Wynes my good Baresh." Baresh pours out a glass and smiles back at the woman. "Tell me something my good friend, you have been in the realms for a time, you should know..." She takes a quick sip from the glass. "Why is it that the younin's who fall have little respect for those who try to help? I mean I've walked the roads for over five years, and it seems that this problem worsens as the time passes." She shifts in her chair and takes another sip. "Let me tell you something that happened to me not too long ago...I was walking the Northern Trade Road on my way back from a hunting trip and I passed a certain unfamiliar person, nothing unusual, I just walked right by. A few seconds later I see his name among the fallen. I wasn't too far in front so I came to him. Being a Pally I decided to drag him back to crossing, get his mems back in order, have his wounds tended to, then I could trace the ward around him." A smirk comes across the woman's face and she shakes her head. "This youngin hardly utters a sound to me as I drag to the Clerics. His mems are restored and then he decides to speak: He has no favors, and on top of that, he was going to level to the 4th circle!." Baresh shakes his head and continues to listen. "Well, upon the advice of a Cleric, I run him to Dirge in hopes of getting him raised, and I run into a Moon Mage. He was kind enough to Gate us to Haven. I finally find some very generous Empaths and Clerics to help him even though he didn't have a favor." The woman takes a large sip from the glass." "During the usual conversation with this young one, we asked why he didn't carry a favor. And he wanted to know why he needed one if there were Clerics around." She shakes her head again. "Can you believe it Baresh? Going to the 4th circle with no favors, and he wanted to know why he needed them when he thought there were Clerics laying around to give up their own." The woman finishes off the wine, fishes out a gold kronar and gives it to Baresh. "I don't know good Baresh, some of these newbies should be taught the ropes *somewhere*, I'm just sorry I had to drag his ungrateful carcass into the caring hands of someone like Gui, and his friends. They wouldn't even accept a tip from me that's how gracious these people are, and yet there are still people like that young one to go around to pawn off of Clerics." |
