Submitted: 2 June 1999 Lanival Could Be Unwelcome by Gallvaine Sccreeder (Crossing, Zoluren: 2 Akroeg 358)A worried Elven warrior mage perks his ear up as he hears Baresh repeating some knowledge given to him by Magus of the Gnomish seer. "Baresh," he says, "Did you say a warrior king... will come and lead the people? And many think him to be Lanival? I'd say that that's a funny coincidence, but there's nothing humorous about it. It seems to me that he fits directly the description of the second Deceiver. Gallvaine rummages around until he finds a ruddy scroll inside his journey pack. It is written in tiny Elven script, and as Baresh squints to try to read it, the Elf recites: Gallvaine smiles as Baresh settles in for a long analysis. "No, Baresh, I haven't anything much to say. But I thought that you might need to hear the words that I speak of again for my story to make sense. Lanival is said to be the only man to be able to harness the powers of the Paladins with the powers of the Warrior Mage. He at one time is a saint, and though he's a Paladin, he has been able to journey through the ways of the Warrior Mage and aethyr. Lanival was believed to be in a state of deep sleep, transcending time." With that, Gallvaine rolls up the scroll and stands up. He turns to leave, but thinks of something else. "Baresh, if this Vael character is indeed Lanival, I shudder to think of what we have let into town. We just might find ourselves fighting a diversenary war while the real evil is inside..." With that the Warrior Mage steps back outside, leaving you to wonder, who can be trusted?
Baresh will listen to your well-presented viewpoint on this, too.
