I May Be Young, But I Am Not A Novice by Riaoko Ivie (Crossing, Zoluren: Moliko 363)A young Elven Empath slowly makes her way through the door, surveying all around her. Quietly she sits upon the bar stool, "a cup of tea please", she said almost in a whisper. Baresh sat her cup on the bar in front of her, "I have nae seen you here before lass, you carry an Empath title, but are to clean for that. Say are you one of those sneaky type with the false title?" He looked at her closely. "Nae good sir, I am an Empath. It seems that because I am young, I am not needed." A frown crossed her face. "Not needed, people always need Empaths, even more now it seems" Baresh said loudly. "It would seem that way wouldn't it?" She slowly sipped her tea. "I am young, but not so young I can nae take all wounds, I can even heal ones vitality, but I am young none the less, only in the seventh level of my guild. It seems, when ever I start to heal someone, and older Empath will begin to heal the same person, and of course out heal me, and I am expected to shut up and take it. If I were to do that to an older Empath, you would think it were the end of all exisitence. Now in this time of war, I start to help a fallen hero, another Empath will start to heal them as well, they do not ask, they just do. Again, I have to bite my tongue, and again, if I were to do that, I would get yelled at. How are we suppose to gain experience if no one lets us do what we are trained to do. I feel useless, I guess thats how the older set view us youngin's, useless and unable to do anything right." She paused for a moment and finished her tea. "I know another young Empath recently came here to tell you his tale. I want him to know, he is not alone." Slowly she rose from her seat, and began to leave, "what do we need to do to show everyone that just because we are young doesn't mean we do not know our work?" With that said, she left as quietly as she arrived. |
