IRC, which is an Internet Standard Chat, is supported. This means you can use your favorite chat client that you use anywhere else on the internet in an IRC. You'll need to know where to point your client. If you don't have a client, you'll need to obtain one. These are three I have used, in order of my preference:
IRC settings are simply the address of the chat and the room. Here's the information your chat client will want:Server: irc.dm.net
Port: 6667 (or from AOL: Port: 3000)
Room: #Wrens_Nest
When you first start the Java applet, you need to tell it to connect with that
little tool up on the top line.
Why doesn't the Wren's Nest fit in my screen?
Well, maximize your screen. I have tried to make things fit
more or less in a default sized browser on a 600x800
screen resolution system. But your system fonts, your browser
fonts, as well as your screen resolution can all affect this.
If it looks REALLY really bad with your setup, please drop me a line
and tell me the details, I will see if I can find a way to
make it work better for you and everyone. How the Wren's Nest
looks to all visitors is important to me.
Where do I find help with living and adventuring in the Realms?
The Wren's Nest Tavern does not try to duplicate the very
many works of guides, maps, hints, tips, and help for
adventurers in DragonRealms. There is a vast amount of help
on the various other websites,
as well as the official documentation pages
from Simutronics. Please refer to these. We may archive some
tips and such from the message boards, but concentrated
help guides are available from other sources, and I do not
want to duplicate these other excellent resources.
How come I do not see the new stories?
Some pages are updated every day or two, others are updated
as many times a day as people interact with them. (Like the guestbook,
the Scroll of Remembrance, etc.) If your browser is set to
not check for a newer page each time you visit, then it will
very likely just pull the old one out of your cache locally.
You can either set your Netscape or MSIE to check for a
newer page each time you go there, or each time you fire
up the browser, or just hit the reload/refresh button if
you like your settings the way they are.
How did you build this site?
Many people ask what tools I use for the Wren's Nest.
I use the finest and most flexible web page editor I've
ever seen, it is called HomeSite, by Allaire.(Win 95 only)
No, before you ask, this is not some WYSIWYG toothless wonder
from the boys in Redmond. If you have not learned HTML, this
is not the application for you.
For editing
the perl scripts, I use an awesome text editor called UltraEdit.
There are a number of credits for the various scripts,
applets, and things which make the Wren's Nest possible
in this format. Please take a moment to look at them, too.
