Tribute to a Heroine

by Girru

(Crossing, Zoluren: 277 Moliko 357)

I lay dead outside the temple ruins pondering how long will it be till this over and help will come to my rescue. Just then 3 more people arrive I get a small gleam of hope that help is finally here. When all of a sudden the 3 Darvargers that had killed me dropped 2 of the 3 people I thought were going to rescue me. The creatures chant dark and mysterious words, pointed their fingers and in the next moment, the new companions were just like me, laying there dead.

The 3rd person ran fearful of his own life. When out of nowhere comes this crossbow bolt lodging itself firmly into the chest of one of the Darvargers. This young looking S'kar Mur was on one of the Darvargers before they even knew she was here. She wore her crossbow and drew a Ivory-hilted Katar. With two slices from her katar she had dropped one of the 3 Darvargers. My saviour had arrived. The remaning 2 Darvargers began chanting their dark magic and pointed at Dazia! She laughed at them as she sidestepped their bolts of lightning.

She began to advance another one of the Darvargers when one fired another bolt of lightning at her. It just about took off her leg as she flew to the ground. All of a sudden she just disappeared. I didn't see her body so I did't believe that they got her. Then the Darvargers began searching the area.

The next thing I knew Dazia came charging out of hiding towards one of the Darvargers. Her katar slicing away, within a few seconds she had dropped the second Darvarger. The last Darvarger began chanting more dark words and struck her again in the left arm. Dazia looked in bad shape as if she might go down herself. But in a flash she was gone again, the Darvarger searched the shadows, but it was to late for the fell looking beast. Dazia was on top of the last one shortly after it searched. She began slicing again making short time of the last Darvarger.

I felt this sweet relief, knowing that I've finally been saved. Dazia began dragging the three of us away from combat and restoring our memories. She was very kind and spoke soft. I still wonder how one with such a fury to fight could be so kind. As quickly as she killed the Darvargers she had all three of us up. We thanked her for her kindness and offered gifts for the greatest gift she bestowed upon us, Life.

She declined and said, "If you want to repay me, Take the bodies of the fallen to the clerics guild. I'm gonna go back to the line of combat and finish what the Cyclops and Darvargers started."

Without another word she disappeared into the shadows.

I'll never forget the easing and comforting smile she gave me before she was gone.

I hope one day I can be as great as Dazia.
