My Life... by Ezikeil Morou (Crossing, Zoluren: Skullcleaver 363)A man sat in the bar drinking some ale, looking rather confused. The more he drank, it seemed, the less confused he became. Suddenly, after about 10 or so drinks he suddenly looked at Baresh. "Hey friend. How goes?" "Pretty well. I haven't seen you around here before. Ye new?" "I guess so. I came here from the islands not too long ago." Baresh looked at him. "Why on Earth did you want to come here anyway?" Baresh grinned. "I didn't have much choice friend. It is a long tale really. Not really want to bore you with it." He sighed and took another drink of his ale. Baresh just grinned and leaned back. "I like stories friend. You can tell me if you want to." The man chuckled. "You know, your only the second kind ear that I've met since I moved here." He smiled. "Well I guess I'll start 2 years ago. Me and my family were coming here to visit some relatives when the boat we were on was invaded by some pirates. My mother and father were strong so I didn't think much of it. They fought with the pirates, taking them down quickly. I was watching this from the mast when a chain suddenly hit me in the head and knocked me out. The next thing I remember is that I was floating on the open sea on a barrel. Neither of the ships were seen, as it was dark. When I awoke the next morning I was a dirty beach..." He choked down another ale. Baresh looked at him. "What happened to your parents?" "I don't know. All I do know is that this Moon Mage named Ezaro dragged me away from the beach and took me in, taught me a few things about survival and life and how to make due with what I have. He has adopted me as a brother and he says that soon I will be able to begin hunting. I so look forward to that day. The day I can begin to gain strength and ability. One day, I hope to be strong enough to hopefully find my family..." He choked down another ale. Baresh was puzzled. "How old are ye son?" "Not old enough I guess." He grinned. Baresh chuckled. "Have ya decided what life your going to lead?" "Actually I have. I have been working with a longbow recently and have decided that the skills provided by the Ranger's Guild will suit my goals well. Lady Kalika says that I will soon be old enough to join the guild." Baresh smiled. "What's your name lad?" "Ezikeil Morou. Ye?" "I am Baresh, an that's all ya need'n know bout me." He grinned. The boy chuckled. "I hope someday to find my mother and father. I pray for their safety. But until the day I can find them, I'll work to find friends and maybe even a life here. Make my new found family proud of me." He smiled. "Wish me well friend. My journey soon begins. I will stop in every now and again to see how you're doing." He tossed a gold coin on the bar and Baresh gawked. "Ye can't spend this in here lad." He tossed the coin back to him. "You sure friend?" "Yeah sure. But I'm making you a tab now." Baresh grinned. The boy laughed a bit and nodded. "I see ya around." He exited the tavern, wondering about what was to come. |
