Submitted: 15 May 2000 Lonelyte's Final Departure by Ryeka Wolfsdaughter (Aesry Surlaenis'a, Qi'Reshalia: Uthmor 361)Baresh looked up to see a familiar but long-absent figure in his door- that of a certain young cleric. The faintest glimmer of moisture on her cheeks betrayed the news she bore. "Baresh- Another light has gone out for the lands. Lonelyte. Cleric. A dedicated one who had endured much before he finally returned to the gods. "If those who had the power had done that which was right, not robbed him of hard-earned skill and then prevented him from even dealing with a well-known grave-robber, he might still be with us. But we'll never know now, will we?" A bitter laugh that was more than half a choked sob escaped before she continued. "Lonelyte and I did not always agree- but I respected him. And it's safe to say that many others of us did the same. I learned much from him, as did several of my children. Those who follow now will miss out on a chance to do the same. "Forgive me if I seem incoherent, Baresh. I know I should be happy that he is where he cannot be hurt again. But it will be long before I can be." With that, the cleric trudges back out the door. Only then does Baresh look down and see a tear glimmering on the bar. And the light reflecting from it looks like a meteor flashing across the sky.
