The Heart of a Fool by Zantiel Viskal (Crossing, Zoluren: Skullcleaver 364)'As I sit here thinking about my life as it was once, I am overcome with the wishes that I had done different. Perhaps there was something else. Maybe if I hadn't become afraid of myself...' Baresh nudged at Zantiel. "Wake up friend. Bout time fer ya to go home." Zantiel looked euphoric as he looked back. "Aye. Sorry Friend." "Don't worry about it. What's on your mind." "Everything. I guess you can say nothing too." He grinned. "I finally got my 2 cents in to my former love. But the conversation turned bitter by my own jealousy. Some things were said that I didn't mean. I finally got to make my peace of that today. But I fear that I have opened a rift that can not be closed." Baresh slapped him. "Ya need ta get over it is what ya need to do." Zan just looked at him. "How do you propose I do that friend? I mean, I have dedicated my whole life to this one person..." Baresh stroked his beard, feeling a piece of meat from earlier in the day and plucked it out. "Heh, just use this as an example." He held the piece of gore in front of Zantiel and tossed it away. "Not so easy friend. I know what I'm going to do. After the fact, I heard that her current love was going to come after me. A challenge that I'll openly welcome because I've wanted to taste his blood for sometime. But I realized that he wasn't worth it to me. To the ideals that I uphold. I have decided to wait quietly and gain both mental, physical, and financial strength, and stay true to her memory until the day she can say that she honestly does not love me anymore." Baresh slapped him again. "You know your just setting yourself up my friend. For heartbreak beyond words." Zantiel stood. "I know, but it can't be any worse that what I feel now friend. I hope you can understand. I have nothing else to hope for." He started to stagger out when Baresh grabbed him. "You get over this friend. Do it for yourself." "When she can say the words, I will move on. But as long as there is hope in our love, I will remain true to it." He walked out, leaving behind 2 gold kronars and a stunned Baresh. "You love her that much?" "Yes, I do." |
