Rejj's Tome of the Gods

Damaris' Domain
Welcome to the domain of Damaris! Damaris is the god of night and dreams. He is also recognized as the god of assassins, thieves, spies, and cutthroats. He is the assassin of the gods. He will kill if someone's life is no longer a necessity in the scheme of things, even if he makes no profit on the kill. Damaris is not often seen, but is pictured as having "black hair that is strewn with silver and large black eyes without pupils or whites and ebon skin" (The Immortals, chapter 1 Page 7) but as can all the gods, he can change shape. Because he is an assassin and thief he can do it better than the rest of the other gods (comes with practice I suppose).

Strangely enough Damaris has a soft spot in his seemingly black heart for small children. As a last resort (when the other gods have deserted them) parents will ask Damaris to protect their child. Children seem to be the only ones exempt from death at his hand. He will have them fall asleep and give them a kiss not remembered and drift off to attend to his other duties. Damaris' symbol is the panther.

Phelim is Damaris' Light aspect. He is the god of good dreams, the opposite of nightmares. It is said that Moon Mages often worship Phelim and choose to gain favor with him. It is also said that "Phelim strew the stars in the sky by gathering some of Tamsine's tears and setting them against the velvet black of the heavens, then bid Kertigen hammer for him four moons, which he then nestled along with the stars in the heavens, and set to turning." (The Immortals Chapter 1 Page 8) When the fourth moon hatched the World Dragon, Phelim was the one who ambushed the creature and set it to sleeping in the center of Elanthia.

Phelim is also the god of rightful vengeance and honorable thieves and assassins. Those who seek vengeance for a worthy reason may receive support from Phelim, and those who are granted a promise from him should know it is a promise kept, as Phelim never breaks his word. Phelim's symbol is the nightingale.

Dergati is the goddess of nightmares and Damaris' Dark aspect. She is the sister of Kerenhappuch and, though looking nothing like her, helps her very frequently. She is assumed to have black hair and, despite her only flaw--a third eye in the center of her forehead--is of exotic beauty. It's rumored that she may have created vampires and werewolves and never walks during the day. It's also rumored that she may have had a hand in creating the World Dragon, and is often plotting to destroy the sun which she hates so much.

Her vengeance is a terrible wonder to behold and she kills with a slow and painful efficiency. She will do anything for Kerenhappuch whom she admires for her motives, schemes, and plots. She also considers Kerenhappuch an equal mentally of which she considers few in the same regard. People are also afraid to speak her name, even at high noon, because she is always watching and kills those who speak her name in vain. Dergati's symbol is shrike.
