Rejj's Tome of the Gods
|
Welcome to the domain of Glythtide! Glythtide is the god of joy, merriment, wine, song, and good fellowship. He also supports bards, musicians, poets, loafers, and drunks. Many of the Dark gods cannot even stand Glythtide's presence due to his unstoppable happiness. It is recorded in a Halfling story that the only time Glythtide ever wept and frowned was the time that night was created. Arthe Dale has the constant favor of Glythtide and, when the liquor and treats start rapidly disappearing, he has come back for one of his semi-regular visits. He is the chief deity of the Halflings, to no one's surprise. Glythtide's symbol is a ram.

Saemaus is Glythtide's Light aspect. Saemaus is the god of love and is also the god of festivities. A toast is almost always made in his name at weddings or parties so that the marriage, or party, may be filled with happiness and joy. A god of happiness, Saemaus' anger is hard to get into the open, but terrible to behold. He curses enemies with love-sickness towards their greatest of enemies, or one of Saemaus' enemies. Saemaus supports lovers, expectant fathers, and pregnant women. He is also known as being an unmatchable chef (inventing the tart) but a bit off-balance or tipsy. Saemaus' symbol is a donkey.

Be'ort is Glythtide's Dark aspect. He is the god of bitter partings, lost love, madness, and wasted oppurtunities. It is said that Be'ort is the wine that turns to vinegar before a party and the rain on a wedding day. Be'ort is a great sulking figure that wallows in melancholy.
Wars of attrition (such as the Elven-Human war) are a specialty of his. He always appears as "a wild-eyed and mussed-hair man who is usually giggling a bit oddly." (The Immortals Chapter 1 Page 17) Should Be'ort wish to utterly destroy someone he will go about by first destroying any relationships they have. He then destroys their social standing and profession, and when they have hit their lowest, he makes sure that their mind snaps. Be'ort's symbol is a coyote.
