Gayle's Alter Ego

I just uploaded the cover and excerpt for my May book, In Pursuit of a Scandalous Lady, the first in my new Victorian trilogy. I received a wonderful quote from Publisher's Weekly, and an excerpt will be published in Avon's May anthology, Three Times a Bride.

I just put up the cover and excerpt of my January Julia Latham book, Wicked, Sinful Nights. Check out the bookshelf for my Julia Latham website!

My new book, Never Marry a Stranger, hits the bookshelves today!  I've also uploaded a few more photos as well. I've even joined Facebook!

Never Marry a Stranger is coming out in less than three weeks! Check out the beautiful cover. I've uploaded an excerpt as well. Hope you like it!

On the writing front, I just finished In Pursuit of a Scandalous Lady, the first book in my "Scandalous Lady" trilogy. Whew! Now I'm about to start writing the second book--no title yet! And I'm writing a Julia Latham medieval. No rest for the wicked...

(May 30, 2009)

Welcome! I've updated my website--and as you can see from the date below, it's been a while. I put up all the events I'll be attending this year, and wrote about the movies I've seen and books I've read, not to mention my favorite TV shows. On the writing front, I'm working on the first book of my newest Victorian trilogy, which I used to call "Daughters of Scandal," because these women are the cousins/sisters of the heroes from my most recent trilogy, "Sons of Scandal." But the plot I came up with, about a painting of a nude woman, and the puzzle of who the model is, inspired a different trilogy title, "Scandalous Lady." So far, I'm calling the first book, In Pursuit of the Scandalous Lady, but who knows what my editor will say!

As the depth of winter hits, I'm slogging toward a March 1st deadline for a medieval I'm writing for Avon as Julia Latham. I'd tell you the title, but my editor and I haven't finalized one yet! But I do know that it doesn't hit the shelves until January of next year. But if you're dying for a medieval "fix," Taken and Seduced  will be published in April of this year. I'll put up an excerpt in March.

My next project is the beginning of a new trilogy, "Daughters of Scandal", about the female cousins from "Sons of Scandal." I'm really having fun with this extended family, and I'm looking forward to seeing what trouble the ladies can get into!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Thanks to all of you for buying my book! My publisher is very happy with how well it's selling--and that makes me happy! The second half of my stalking Susan Elizabeth Phillips video is up, and you can watch it here. Also, Avon had me record some of my favorite holiday memories, gifts, stories, etc., and if you'd like to listen to it, you go to their Holiday Page, check out the blue column in the center and look for my name! Also, the Avon authors have been doing a Holiday Recipe Ring. Start at the beginning, and you'll eventually reach my delicious Chocolate Bark recipe!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Never Dare a Duke is now on bookstore shelves! I'm so excited for you to read the next in my "Sons of Scandal" trilogy. Check out the excerpts I've uploaded. Also, there's a video of me at the Avon Romance website. This summer I stalked Susan Elizabeth Phillips at the Romance Writers of American convention in San Francisco. Along the way, I talked to other Avon authors. The first half of the video is online now, and the second half (where I actually catch up with Susan) is coming soon. You can check it out here. December 18, I'll be doing a radio/web interview with several other Avon authors. More details to follow!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

With less than a month to go before Never Dare a Duke hits a bookstore near you, I decided to tease you with another excerpt! So check out how Abigail tempts the perfect duke to spend time with her...

Gayle

(October 1, 2008)

I just finished writing a book, so I'm in deadline fatigue. This was Never Marry a Stranger, which will be published in September 2009. Right now I'm waiting on revisions from my editor, and I'm about to begin writing my next Julia Latham medieval, Pursued and Pleasured. But until then, I took the opportunity to upload the cover and excerpt of my next book, Never Dare a Duke, coming in December. Avon has given me another gorgeous cover as the duke and Abigail recline on a chaise lounge. My editor calls this the "lying down" trilogy, since in the first book, Never Trust a Scoundrel, they're lying in a tub. Can't wait to see where they're lying in the next book... The excerpt is where the duke first realizes that Abigail (the undercover journalist) is eavesdropping on him.

I had a great time at the Romance Writers of America convention in San Francisco last week. We had beautiful weather in the 60s, bright sunshine, great for touring. I'd never been there before, and I love exploring a new city. I did a radio call-in show with four other Avon historical authors. If you'd like to listen to the show, here's the link.

Thanks so much for reading Never Trust a Scoundrel and letting me know that you liked it! I always enjoy working on the first book of a new trilogy. The second book, Never Dare a Duke, is all done and due to be published in December. I've seen the preliminary artwork for the cover, and the couple is reclining on a gorgeous chaise lounge--and in bed on the back cover! Very sexy. I'll be uploading it to my site this fall. Right now I'm working on my next Julia Latham book, Taken and Seduced. Great title for a medieval, huh? When that's done this summer, I'll be working as Gayle again, on the third book of the "Sons of Scandal" trilogy. Right now we're calling it Never Betray an Officer, but I don't think that will stay the title. We'll see...

Gayle

(February 25, 2008)

I just uploaded my new cover for Never Trust a Scoundrel, which will be published in April. And an excerpt! I meant to put these up a month ago, but I had a deadline this week, and I was going crazy meeting it. Now I have a little time before revisions get here, so I'm working on the websites, as well as the Harpercollins websites. Whew!

Gayle

I have a new book out this month--writing as Julia Latham! One Knight Only is my second medieval all about members of the League of the Blade. And the heroine is a swordswoman! Gotta love women who can defend themselves. Romance Reviews Today says, "A story of passion, mystery, and adventure...an excellent read."

Gayle

(October 19, 2007)

I just found out I sold two more books to Czechoslovakia--A Knight's Vow, and His Scandal. I have a Czech copy of My Lady's Guardian, and it's so neat to see my words in another language.

This past weekend, I spent two days at the For Women Only Expo in Erie, PA, signing books at the Borders booth. I met lots of wonderful people, spoke about books and writing both days, and sold a lot of books. My mom sat at my side, my best PR expert and manager. I spent the rest of the week at my mom's house, working away undisturbed so I could get a lot of pages done. I have a Julia Latham book due in November. Only 150 pages left--I'm beginning to feel confident!

Gayle

(September 23, 2007)

I just found out that my next book, Never Trust a Scoundrel, is coming out in April 2008 instead of May. That makes me happy! The synopsis for the next book in the trilogy, Never Dare a Duke (tentatively published in January 2009) was just accepted, so I can start writing the book--after I finish the next Julia Latham medieval, which is due in November. Whew!

First of all, I added a whole new page of photos, so go check out the Photo Gallery. I just returned from a week vacation in VA Beach. My husband's entire family (32 of us) rented a huge house to celebrate his mom's 70th birthday. We had a blast! You'd think that many people in one house might feel crowded, but with eight bedrooms and six baths, we were fine. The inground pool right on the beach made it perfect, especially since so many of his siblings have little kids who couldn't take the huge waves. My big kids, on the other hand, rented a surfboard and lived for the really huge waves. My husband was right out there with them, body-surfing, too. And then there was me, sitting under my umbrella, happily reading--until I got hot enough to go out for a swim. What a life! Then I came back to galley edits on one book, and revisions on another. Sigh...

I just learned a new website trick that I downloaded from my publisher, HarperCollins. They're called widgets, and if you look at the web pages of my recent releases here, you'll see them. They're a Browse Inside box, that connects you to scanned selected pages of my books. So it's as if you've browsed through the book in your hands. I know Amazon has been doing this for a while, but it's neat that I can put it on my website.

Hello! The big news is that my husband and I just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversay! I feel like the wedding was only yesterday...

I wanted to thank all of you for buying The Viscount In Her Bedroom. Because of you, I hit higher on the USA Today list than ever has before, and it even stayed on a second week, which is a first for me. I'm so glad you've taken Simon and Louisa to heart.

A month ago we watched our daughter graduate from college, and last Sunday we just helped her move into her NYC apartment--a fifth floor walkup. It's been three days, and finally my thighs are feeling normal again! My son also just moved, from CO to PA, which brings him so much closer to home. I'm so happy! We've been watching his dog for a month while he settles in and finds an apartment. My dog Apollo showed Uma who ruled the roost, but they're very cute together. We'll all miss her! My youngest daughter just passed her driver's test. World, look out!

Gayle

(May 6, 2007)

I've been hard at work on various books, but then I realized I had not uploaded an excerpt for my June book, The Viscount In Her Bedroom. Whoops! So now it's up. I'm really looking forward to its publication, because Simon Wade has to be one of my favorite heroes. Other than that, I'm working hard on my next book, which won't be published until next spring, although it is due in June. It's hard to write when your daughter is about to graduate college and move to New York City! I'm very distracted. ;)

Also, I put up a Romantic Times Magazine article about how I write under two names. Click here to read it!

I just uploaded the cover for my June book, The Viscount In Her Bedroom. I love the blue color, and the look of the outdoors. I should have an excerpt up by May. As for my alter ego, my first book as Julia, Thrill of the Knight, just hit the bookshelves! Hope you get a chance to check it out. I've been busy working on a couple projects. I just finished the next Julia book, One Knight Only, and signed for two more. Also, I'm still working on my next Victorian trilogy, so I better get to it!

Gayle

(January 3, 2007)

Welcome to 2007!  Happy New Year! Hope your holidays were wonderful. I didn't get a chance to see my oldest son, because the holidays are a busy season in Aspen, but thank goodness for cell phones. He mailed us a delicious vat of liquid fudge/brownie mix that is meant to make hot cocoa--gourmet hot cocoa! Delicious! My older daughter is home from college, just before her last semester. And after graduation, who knows where she'll be living?? She's hoping NYC, but you never know. My youngest, 16, spent a lot of time with her boyfriend and other friends over the holidays. I can't believe how fast she's growing up!

Me, I finished writing my next Julia Latham book, which is tentatively coming out in December 2007. But the first Julia book, Thrill of the Knight, comes out in March.  My next Victorian, The Viscount In Her Bedroom, comes out in June. Whew, lots of books this year! I've begun planning both the next Julia and Gayle books, so I'll keep busy during 2007. I hope to get an excerpt of Thrill of the Knight up on my Julia website in the next month, so check back soon!

Gayle

(November 14, 2006)

Welcome to my new website!  Isn't this design pretty?  I decided it was time.  Also, don't forget to visit during December, when the Avon authors are doing another holiday Recipe Ring.  I'm putting up a recipe that's perfect for Christmas morning--French Toast Casserole.  Yummy!

Gayle

(October 27, 2006)

Just heard that my next book, The Viscount In Her Bedroom, is now coming out in June 2007.  It moved up a month!  That makes me happy.  Can't wait to show you the beautiful cover set on a balcony.

Gayle

(September 24, 2006)

I finally have the website up for my new medieval pseudonym, Julia Latham.  Since "Julia" is such a new author, the site is a little...lean right now, but I'll add more, especially an excerpt, as we get closer to the March 2007 pub date for Thrill of the Knight.  But you can see the cover on the website!  Check it out!  I'm just starting work on the second medieval, due in December, and then I can finally get back to my next Victorian, due in April 2007.  Busy, busy, and just as the holidays are approaching.  Sigh...

Gayle

(August 8, 2006)

Thanks so much for helping The Duke In Disguise make the "USA Today" bestsellers list!  I was thrilled!

My really big news is that I'll be writing medievals again for Avon, but under the name Julia Latham.  Gayle will write Victorians; Julia will write medievals.  Easy to remember, right?  My first Julia book, Thrill of the Knight, will be published in March 2007.  I'm beginning to work on the website now, as well as the next medieval book.  Then I'll write another Victorian book.  I need a chart to keep track!

I'm off for a week's vacation.  Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Gayle

(June 7, 2006)

I've updated the website with the cover and excerpt of my new book, The Duke In Disguise. Hard to believe it comes out in just a few weeks.  I'm starting on a new project that I'll be able to tell you about soon!

Gayle

(April 29, 2006)

Yikes, it's been a whole two months since I've written.  And last time I was crowing because I'd met a deadline.  Well, I just met an April 1st deadline. Whew!  Any day now I'll be revising The Viscount In Her Bedroom, my July 2007 book, the third in the "Sisters of Willow Pond" trilogy.  The hero is Simon Wade, the best friend in The Lord Next Door.  Except in the beginning of this book, through an accident, Simon becomes blind.  Talk about a challenging story to write!  Yet interesting, too. Hope my editor likes it...

Gayle

(January 19, 2006)

Well I made it through the holidays with a January 15th deadline.  Whew!  I realized in the middle of December that I just couldn't write, what with all the holiday shopping, baking, decorating--and a new book out! And my daughter was home from her semester in London! So after New Year's, I stayed at my mom's in PA for the week.  She has a little cottage in the country.  I stayed by myself and wrote 130 pages, and revised the entire book in that week.  I was exhausted!  But it worked.  It's amazing how much you get done when you're not in your own house, lured away from the computer by laundry and carpooling and board meetings. I mailed the book, and headed off to the National Figure Skating Championship, the first time I'd ever gone.  I had a great time hanging out in a rink 14 hours a day with my mom, sister, and my agent.  But now I'm home trying to catch up with everything I let go.  Yikes.  Here's hoping we all succeed at our New Year's resolutions!
