Welcome to the Fantasy, Futuristic & Paranormal sub-genre chapter of RWA. (FF&P for short.) I am the eccentric leader, the woman of many names. Margaret Benson. Maggie Shayne. Mort. (It's a long story.)
FF&P is a dynamic, constantly evolving chapter, and a fabulous resource for writers of...shall we say...unusual romances, be they already published or still aspiring.
Approximately 200 members strong, FF&P is growing daily. Members seem to multiply like Tribbles. And since there is strength in numbers, we're becoming a powerful advocate for FF&P romance within RWA. One of our main goals is to make sure the FF&P RITA and Golden Heart categories are never done away with. Our board members remain in contact with the RWA board on this and other issues, and we keep our membership abreast of any proposed changes before they happen.
Our bimonthly newsletter, OUT OF THIS WORLD, is the best to be found anywhere. It's fat--jam packed not only with market news and industry info, but with articles on any and everything paranormal, all written by members who know their subjects. Ghosts, Wicca, Astrology, Tarot--you name it, you'll find it discussed in OOTW.
Editor Whitney Walters gets all the credit for putting together what I consider to be the best newsletter in RWA. And I've seen a lot of them.

FF&P sponsors two annual contests. The PRISM Awards, for published FF&P romances, and ON THE FAR SIDE, for the work of aspiring authors. If The Force Is With You, you just might win! In addition we sponsor a gathering each year in conjunction with RWA's National Convention. This year, FF&P, THE GATHERING, will be held on Wednesday July 31st from 8 to 11 PM in Orlando. In addition, special FF&P workshops hand chosen by our chapter board of directors will be presented throughout the National convention.

Write an article on it for the newsletter, see your name in print! Or, if there is something you'd like to see an article about, let us know. We'll find an expert (a member, more likely than not--all the weirdos are members, you know) to write about it for an upcoming issue.
