Contest Rules
- All Entrants must be RWA members and must be unpublished in book length fiction or not have sold a book in the past 3 years.
- Entrants must enter in one of the following categories:
- Fantasy/Futuristic Romance
- Time Travel Romance
- Single-Title Paranormal Romance
- Series Paranormal Romance
If you are uncertain which category to enter, please contact our contest coordinator.
- Entries must represent the author's own, original and unpublished, book-length work.
- Entries must be double spaced and printed in readable, non-proportional type (Courier 12 pt. is suggested). A header with the title and page number should appear on every page. The AUTHOR'S NAME SHOULD NOT APPEAR on the manuscript.
- The entry must consist of the first chapter and/or prologue of the manuscript (not to exceed 30 pages) and a NON-JUDGED synopsis (not to exceed 10 pages).
- Submit 4 copies of the manuscript and synopsis.
- Include a LARGE manila or Priority SASE for return of scoresheets and any pages on which the judges have made comment -- pages w/o comments will NOT be returned to you.
- On a SEPARATE title page include:
- Your name, address & phone # (w/area code)
- The title & total word count of your novel
- Entrants may enter up to 2 categories with DIFFERENT manuscripts (not the same book in two categories). Each entry must be accompanied by $20 entry fee & a separate signed Contestant's Agreement.
- Judges may not enter in the category they are judging.
- Rewritten, non-winning entries from last year's contest are welcome.
- The contest is limited to 35 entries per category.
