Well, I must say I had a very exciting weekend this past weekend (Dec 4-6/98). I'm not sure what this Christmas holiday thing is everyone is talking about but I think I like it. My mommy has been doing a lot of shopping and stuff and then when she comes home she wraps up the shopping in pretty paper and sticks bows on them. I like that because I can play with the paper when she's not looking. But she won't let me play with foil paper, whatever that is. She says it's not good for me. No problem, there's lots of other kinds of papers and my favourite is tissue paper. It rips up real good!
Anyhow, on Friday, when my mommy came home from work, she told me that we had to pack a small overnight bag because we were going to go spend the night at Uncle Darrel and Aunty Judi's house. I was ready to pack all my toys but mommy said I couldn't. She reminded me that Uncle Darrel and Auntie Judy have lots of toys at their house for me so we don't have to take any from home. But she did pack my "blankie" because I like having my blankie with us when we go to bed. It's a soft receiving blanket for human babies, but my mommy said it's for me because it has pictures of all the 101 Dalmations on it. Sometimes I put it on top of my mommy when she is sleeping. So she packed my blankie and food for my meals. We needed to take some breakfast and dinner with us for Saturday. She also packed the camera. She's always taking pictures of me with that little blue camera.
Once we were all packed we took our bag to the car. Mommy put me in my Sleep Box (this is a neat crate that stays in the car for when we go for car rides) and off we went. I love going to Uncle Darrel and Aunty Judi's house! They have a BIG house and they let me run around in it. One of my favourite games is to chase Uncle Darrel around the house. Sometimes he hides, but I always find him. Everyone laughs and I bark and then we start the game all over again. Aunty Judi taught me a neat trick! You see, when we used to visit them in the summer, the kitchen glass sliding door was always open and I could go down into the garden whenever I wanted. But now that it's winter, the door is shut. So Aunty Judi taught me how to bark at the door whenever I wanted to go out and then to bark at the door when I wanted to come back in. It was pretty funny watching Aunty Judi bark at the door. Hahahaha! All she had to do was tell me that's what she wanted, but I let her bark at the door a few times because it makes me laugh.
Friday night I barked at the door a lot. This is neat. Whenever I bark at the door, someone gets up and comes over to open the door for me. Hahaha. I bark at the door even if I don't really need to go outside. I like watching people jump up when I tell them to. Sometimes I like going outside even if I don't have to because the garden has so many neat things for me to play with. I like bringing leaves and sticks back into the house to show everyone and I brought lots of them in on Friday.
But then something weird happened. I went out this one time and everything was blowing around and water was falling from the sky. I didn't like that one little bit! It was cold! So I came right back in. How can they expect a girl to go down to the garden to do her business if everything is blowing around and water is falling from the sky? When I wouldn't go down to the garden, Aunty Judi put a doggy coat on me and sent me back outside. Well, this was ok, except the water was still falling on my head. I've decided I don't like water on my head or ears, so I came back in. By now, Mommy and Aunty Judi were laughing at me
When I came back in, Mommy and Aunty Judi were still laughing. They said I looked like a Christmas elf in my green coat and red hat. Sure enough, out came the camera and they took pictures of me. Mommy says she sure hopes these pictures turn out, but personally, I think they are being a little silly.
Then it was really neat! Uncle Darrel played a new game with me. He would tell me I had to stay in the kitchen with Mommy and Aunty Judi and he would go hide one of my toys. Once he hid it, he told me to go find it. The first time, I wasn't sure what he meant. So I'd just look at him. He said "Oh, I guess she can't learn this game, after all, she is a GIRL." A girl??? He thinks us girls can't learn things boys do?? So I sure showed him! I went and got the toy and brought it back. He went and hid it again and I found it right away. We played this over and over and no matter where he hid it, I always found it! SO THERE! That'll teach him for making fun of me being a girl! And now we have another neat game to play when I'm over there!
Mommy and Aunty Judi stayed up very late Friday night, just talking. Well, I figured I should stay up with them, but I sure was tired. When I get tired, I get silly and won't lie down. I run around the house or else pounce on my toys. And even though my eyes just want to close, I fight that! Finally, at 3:30am Mommy said it was time to go to bed. Phew! I didn't want to admit to them that I was tired or anything. So Mommy and I went to our bedroom and before she turned the light out, I was asleep.
I woke Mommy up at 7:30am to take me outside, but then we went back to bed. I woke her up later because I heard a noise. Sure enough, it was Uncle Darrel! I got really excited when I saw him! It's not often that when I wake up we have guests, but since we were at Uncle Darrel and Aunty Judi's house, he was there! Hehehe..Uncle Darrel opened their bedroom door and told me to go wake Aunty Judi. This is great fun!! I leapt up onto the bed and jumped on top of her and licked her all over her face! If she thought she was going to go back to sleep, she was in for a big surprise, because I wouldn't let her!
Then Uncle Darrel made breakfast! Ooooh, did it ever smell good. Mommy had given me my breakfast (beef, basmati rice, carrots, onions, red pepper and garlic) but Uncle Darrel's smelled so good. He was making bacon Belgian waffles! I've never had those before but they sure smelled good. Aunty Judi gave me some. At first I wasn't sure what they were, but once I tried a piece, well, I just wolfed them down. I like Belgian waffles! I just wished they had given me a whole one for myself, but the pieces they gave me were excellent.
Then we had to pack up our bag again because we had to leave to go over to Stephanie, Tony and Reagan's house. Reagan is my boyfriend, he's a little Australian Silky Terrier. Ya, he's pretty cute, but I have to yell at him all the time. Boys! He teases me with his toys but won't let me play with them, so I yell at him all the time. Mommy tells me not to yell and Aunty Stephanie just laughs. But I have to yell at him! Sometimes he makes me so mad! He has these neat balls, a blue one and a tennis ball, but he won't let me play with them.
But they have a neat house too. Reagan never barks to be let outside, so I had to bark for both of us. The two of us run around the backyard. They have a pool too, but since it's winter, it's now covered up. That's ok with me. Last summer Mommy took me in the pool, but I didn't like it one little bit.
Reagan and I had our dinner over there. Then after dinner, we chased each other around and I still yelled at him. Around 7pm we were both pretty tired. So he had a snooze with his Mommy on her chair and I had a snooze with my Mommy on the couch. Mommy said that was the only time I had been quiet all day. Meanwhile, Uncle Tony had been working on our car. He got it all ready for winter. That Uncle Tony's is a pretty clever guy!
When Mommy and I were driving home, I was sound asleep in my Sleep Box. By this time I was too tired to keep my eyes open any longer. Mommy said that there were certain parts of the city that had a dusting of snow. I've never seen snow so I'm not sure what she's talking about. She tried to explain to me the snow was frozen water from the sky and it was white. But I have no idea what she's going on about. I just wagged my little peanut of a tail and licked her face. She told me not to worry, I'd see some snow another day. So when we got home I just curled up on the bed and fell into a deep sleep. Those were two exhausting days for me, so exhausting that I've been sleeping all day Sunday.
Well, this is quite a bit of writing for me so I'm going to stop now. I will write more stories later.
