Shiro's Forever Home Adventure

I was pretty scared because I overheard someone saying that there was no home for me so they were going to have to put me to sleep. I'm not sure what they meant by this since I had already had a long nap, but from the tone of this person's voice, it didn't sound like it was something I wanted. Then, the next thing I knew, I was being whisked away to the kind Dr. who was going to do surgery on my bad eye. I don't remember too much of that because when I woke up it was all over.

Well, before I knew it, I was being put on a plane to go up north! My guardian angel, Eleni, picked me up and took me to her home. She told me that she was going to work really hard to find me my own Forever Home. Wow! I couldn't believe it, someone was actually going to try and find me a Forever Home. Even though I had just met Eleni, I knew that if anyone could do it, she could.

I really liked it at Eleni's house. She has lots of dogs and we would all sneak up on the people's bed and sleep with them. One day, Eleni was sitting at this big table with a thing that looks like a TV screen on it. She said she was going to type on this box and tell the world that she was looking for a Forever Home for me. That's pretty neat, although, I was a little concerned about finding a Forever Home in this TV-like box that she called a computer. I couldn't see a door on it where I could go to my new Forever Home or how that TV-like box would be able to say it found a home.

Well, it worked!! On Saturday, February 12, 2000, Eleni told me that the TV-like box sent her a message and there might be a Forever Home ready for me! Eleni and a friend took me in the big car and we drove to CANADA to meet my two new mommies, Raven and Nicole! We had to go through the US/Canadian border and everything! This was so exciting, I was going to meet my new mommies! I was a little bit nervous because, what if they didn't like me? Eleni said that they also have two other fur-critters - Kindra, who is an old German Shepherd and ArnieCat who is a big, black cat. I had to be on my bestest behaviour because if Kindra or ArnieCat didn't like me, then we'd have to continue looking for a new Forever Home. But I guess I worried for nothing because when we got to their home in Vancouver, B.C., Mommy Raven greeted us at the door and I fell in love! We went to the park next door and Mommy Nicole brought Kindra to the park to meet me. Kindra gave me the good old sniff over and marked her sign of approval. So we all went back to their home for a nice visit. I checked over the whole place and it was so kewl! I even chased ArnieCat! This is a great Forever Home! My two new Mommies and Eleni and her friend talked and talked and talked (blah, blah, blah, blah) and everyone was so happy. Even though Kindra is pretty darn old and arthritic, she got into the play pose (bum in the air, head on the floor) and wanted to play with me! The people all ooh'd and ahhh'd at this and Mommy Nicole said Kindra has never done this with a little dog before. Kindra and I didn't understand why they got so excited...after all, how else can a dog play unless their bum is in the air? I had to go back to Blaine, WA with Eleni because we have a Dr.'s appointment Monday morning. I will be finished at the Dr.'s at 12 noon on Monday and my two Mommies said they will be there at 12:01pm to pick me up and take me home!

I'm sooooo excited!! I move into my Forever Home on Monday, February 14th...Valentine's Day!! This definitely is a day of love and I am the happiest little shih-tzu there ever was! Do come back to my homepage on this TV-like box. My Mommies and the neighbour next door will be updating this page with pictures of my new friends and my adventures!
