the land of
fools
or The Emperor orders the death of the Punch & Judy man for an unfortunate
choice of salts of copper....
ferrelli's latest masterwork
(Performance 6) shows a day in the Foolish Country, with Prince Cross
of Sacramento as the naked Emperor (tiny shriveled prick and all)
while the officers of his court are the foolish courtiers, crying
out in horror at the devil handpuppet that the Gypsy puppeteer (the late O.D.
of Ravnos) has on his left hand, juggling balls of green flaming tissue-paper.
One of
Cross's guards is stabbing the surprised O.D. through the heart with a spear
in response to the Emperor's imperious gesture (obvious parallels to religious
portraits of Pontius Pilate, Longinus and Jesus Christ), making the Punchinello
in O.D.'s right hand wilt in presentiment of the puppeteer's own death. An
organ-grinder's monkey is in the act of pulling a sheaf of parchment from
O.D.'s back pocket, the figures showing
the alchemical shorthand for how to
create flashpaper, and how to tint it so as to
produce different colored flames--sea salt for yellow, tartaric acid for
purple, and the fateful salts of copper used to create a devilish green
glow. The monkey points to the formula for green
and grins. Blood, Fire & Sunlight check, Difficulty 2. |
