There's not a whole lot to learn about me, because I'm not a very public person. However, if you look through this seldom updated page, you'll probably still learn more than you really wanted to know.
Randall At Work
I've had a number of jobs in my life from part-owner of one of San Antonio's first retail comic and game stores to programming for the Texas education system. (I never knew that there were so many things that went into tracking school attendance.) Currently, I run my own small computer consulting company.
President, Gridspace
Gridspace, formerly known as Dragonfire Productions, has been providing affordable personal computer consulting services to individuals and small businesses in the San Antonio, Texas area since 1987. We specialize in program installation, general hand holding and question answering, Internet communications solutions, and small specialized databases. We'll also help you design your web page. Gridspace is a small business and we aim our services at other small businesses and individuals. If you want fancy suits and the rest of the corporate look, please don't call us. But if you want the same friendly service you give the people who visit your shop or office, drop us a line.
Randall Online
As you no doubt noticed from the long list of email addresses at the top of this page, I'm online a lot. While I like the Internet, I really enjoyed the more structured (not to mention moderated and spam-free) environment provided by the old online services. Perhaps this comes from my days as a BBS sysop and a Fidonet echo moderator. I was an Assistant Sysop of Genie's Science Fiction Fandom Roundtable under April Legate from 1993 to Genie's death at the end of 1999. I also managed the Science Fiction Fandom Forum on Delphi in 1996-97. (I gave up the BBS stuff due to lack of time in the early 90s.)
Randall In Fandom
In addition to my "fannish jobs" as (former) a assistant sysop on Genie and forum manager on Delphi, I've been involved in a number of different fandoms and different aspects of fandom over the years: everything from anime to zines. Among other things, I'm currently involved in Argon of Cantee.
Vice President, Argon Science Fiction Society
Argon is a small, international non-profit science fiction club founded in 1968. We publish a newsletter, an irregular fanzine, and sponsor an apa. I was OE of current incarnation of the club apa (APA Argon), which published its 56th issue and last issue in September 1997 and I'm the former editor of the club's fanzine, Dragonwings.
[I know. I really need to expand this section, don't I?]
Randall At Play
Play? What's that?
If you know, visit my newsgroup on Dueling Modems and clue me in. You'll receive an extra heaping helping of appreciation if you can find the time and money for me to become involved in this "play."
Randall's Web Pages
While I do not maintain as many web pages as I used to, I do maintain three sets of fannish web pages:
DragonWeb's Guide to Pern Fandom
DragonWeb's Guide to Pern Fandom contains information and links for Pern Fandom. Although I'm no longer active in any Pern clubs, I still maintain my almost two decade long link to Pern Fandom through this web site.
Fandom Domain
I maintained the Fandom Domain site, a large index to science fiction and fantasy related places on the web from 1995 to early 2000. However, maintaining a "YAHOO-like" listing of SF/F sites become impossible to do on a spare time basis. After a couple of years of allowing the site to wither away, I closed it on June 10, 2000.
Randall's Friends
Here's a list of a few of my friends' and co-workers' web pages:
